When I watched the OP's video. I almost thought it just seemed unreal. It's like the concept behind this game is to spend as little time making it and making maximum profit by labeling it not a game, but as a work of art. I thought the idea of the visuals was quite smart though. It makes the game stand out, using blank space and making it quite bold looks clever, but as the video explains, it's only to cover up it's gaping flaws in the game, like if they were to actually texture anything properly like the gun it would look abysmal. And to conclude, this game could probably run in a browser no problem. It's the sort of quality and the amount of time put into that game which only makes it worthy of being something you could play on an flash game website for 10 minutes before finding something else which is probably enjoyable than this game. Or maybe this is something you would find in an Art Gallary.
Well... it was made in 7 days. That's the point. And they aren't selling it yet. Greenlight is simply getting it in motion to be sold later, Steam won't sell the game the way it is.
The irony is that the game is not pretentious but the critic is.
Well, this just soaked up a good half hour of my time. Interesting as fuck to read. I understand what the video creator was trying to say, but yeah, it's kind of just a tech demo/proof of concept for a 7dFPS. It's not really trying to be pretentious or an ~indie darling~ in any way, in fact I took the whole 'subliminal message' thing more as a self-aware cheesy plot. The whole "Don't Play X" thing is really obnoxious way to title videos though, and that should stop.
the ride never ends
should have
10/10 comeback would cringe at again
to be fair to the reviewer i honestly thought he was adding that overlaid text to make fun of the game for a few minutes [editline]22nd September 2013[/editline] game still looks like it could be cool though
i'm not really sure why everyone is out for blood over this review. yeah the review is pretty confrontational and negative even down to the title, but he's clearly pretty passionate about not liking the game. if he hates a game then he hates it and should express why like he did here. do you guys think redlettermedia stuff like the plinkett reviews or "best of the worst" are immature and awful too
Wow this entire thread
"Should have."
Yeah, I need to start proof reading. I've fixed it though.
And to conclude, this game could probably run in a browser no problem.
It does that genius.
Why is this thread still happening? Ok, the video == garbage. Let's move on with our lives.
Posting in a top lel thread.
this is the thread
Too soon
Not your video yet there were only 29 views on it. Yeah, the concept is apparently ruined since someone managed to get footage of playing through some levels while moving constantly. It would be interesting to hear how many times "he" had to play through it to get that footage. Do you have any concept of how games are developed? Someone making a quick game based on a mechanic won't prioritize graphics.
I have very little coding experience and have only ever coded a few times. It took me less than 5 minutes to fix the gun-clipping error talked about in the video using unity (which I assume this game was made in). In the video he mentioned that the devs seriously needed talented graphic designers, but clearly if they didnt even bother with gun clipping they really just wanted to push the mechanic.
