Age of Consent Debate - General

The age of consent is the exact age that you and your husband/wife get married. Not a day sooner. Everything before that is just spiritual rape.

16 is fine. Teach kids about sex, and having safe sex from an age earlier than 16 (starting to introduce the topic at school from 9-10 would be the optimal, and discussing aspects of reproduction like pregnancy earlier than that still) would quell a lot of problems with teenagers and sex. Raising it to 21 would be mental. Here in the UK we can buy alcohol from 18, and the majority of teenagers are going to become sexually active between the ages of 16-18. Why punish them with a sentence that will stick with them for life for that? Teenagers are gonna fuck regardless of what the law says.

The reason he brought it up was because back when everyone was heavily religious (Christian), people would get married then have Sex. Both were set to the same age as the other.

However, that is up to each state/country/etc to decide since every place is different and educate people properly.

Johhny, Sex and Alcohol are two different things, you can't compare how they work, that's dumb. Also it's not going to stop people. Put it this way, if you made the age of Consent and age of Drinking Alcohol 18, do you really think that will stop high school students? Now if you throw it at 21, do you really think that will stop people? No, rather than raise it, educate people when they are young, like I said before, parents need to do their job of explaining, and schools need to do their job of explaining it but better. Kids need both. Alcohol is not the same as sex, dumbest thing to ever compare. The reason Alcohol is 21, is because of the effects

I honestly think the age of consent should stay 16, maybe lowered to 15, but I am not ENTIRELY against the idea of it being lowered to like 14. Japan's age of consent in some area's is 13, and from what I've read, there hasn't been any fucked up shit like the woman thinks in this video. I might be wrong but we haven't heard much. I think tho it's because Japan is started to die out, with less babies being born and the sorta thing now.

I think there's significant importance for Romeo and Juliet laws, since most schools have 14-18 yr olds in the same highschool, laws that allow sexual relations within that age-range make a lot of sense.
