oh my god, a 5 hour game for 60 dollars? this game is a fucking joke if I'm paying 60 dollars for even an 8 hour game it better be the most compelling experiences of my entire life
that's what halo 3 was, I still remember the thread title "Halo 3 - Finish the fight in 5 fucking hours"
And those games are?
Basically every game published before 2004? Halo 2 was the first game that I know of that had map packs. However, the practice did not become common until the 7th console generation. Map packs, cosmetics, and pay-to-not-grind bullshit has become much more prevalent since publishers realize people will lap that shit up and then thank them for it, but there are still (mostly indie) games that have neither, such as Strike Vector.
how are card packs that only are used in one single gamemode out of five gamemodes where you can obtain enough points to get a pack for free in like 1-2 games (any gamemode builds up points) grind-tastic dlc. you get card packs for leveling up in multiplayer, card packs for completing challenges, card packs everywhere for doing anything. even if you do decide to buy card packs for some inane reason, part of the cost goes directly into the community tournaments and stuff. Your helping the community thrive if you buy a card pack similar to how Dota 2 compendiums work (Buy compendiums/compendium points and get in-game content) but i dont see anyone complaining about the compendium. if you don't like the idea of req, just don't play warzone. they made it a completely different category in the main menu so you can avoid it all together and you can go play the great halo 5 mp arena content Also, they opted to do rec packs so they wouldn't have to charge for future map packs. but y-know, i guess people prefer to fragment the community than to buy stuff that supports the tourney scene and game content creation.

Would you rather have paid DLC/map packs that fragment the community instead of completely optional microtransactions?
Here's an idea, how about neither, we shouldn't have to buy cosmetics in games nor should we pay for map packs, reward your players or go on to the next game or expansion. You're exactly the kind of people companies love to exploit, and you're ruining it for the rest of us.
I spent $6 on the optional packs, way worse than buying a $50 season pass. Clearly I am being exploited.
Would you rather have paid DLC/map packs that fragment the community instead of completely optional microtransactions?
We shouldn't be okay with microtransactions that give players an undeniable advantage or try to entice players into spending $70 for the chance to get a cosmetic they want. Sure, they're optional. I'd rather the optional transactions stuck to things like skins, emotes, or animations. Not spawning into battle with an overshield and a goddamn mech.
got a few gold req packs for free by playing a great game
Not everyone will get a good roll when they open packs.
that stuff only appears in warzone play arena if you dont want that
You're actually telling people not to play an entire gamemode to avoid balance fuckery from microtransactions. Are you serious? How is this not a problem?
"Don't play this part of the game, it's not a big deal!" Seriously, what the fuck. The game is already missing staple gamemodes from previous halo games.
You're actually telling people not to play an entire gamemode to avoid balance fuckery from microtransactions. Are you serious? How is this not a problem?
because theres 4 other gamemodes that give just as much fun if not more. its like complaining about mann vs machine in tf2.
There is no RNG in the earning the packs Wii60 mentioned. They're based on completing challenges.
There is no RNG in the earning the packs Wii60 mentioned. They're based on completing challenges.
The contents of the packs.
i honestly would agree if the req packs are money only but they are not. all you gotta do is play a game you love to get more. it isn't like you gotta spend 10 hours of your life for one pack either. infact during this whole argument i been playing halo 5 and im like 2 games away from a gold pack again.
The contents of the packs.
Those packs give you emblems and warzone weapons that are relevant to that challenge.
because theres 4 other gamemodes that give just as much fun if not more. its like complaining about mann vs machine in tf2.
you can still play mvm without paying for it
you can still play mvm without paying for it
not if you want to do a tour of duty, which is the only way to obtain cosmetics in MVM. the only way to get one is to pay money, unlike req packs which are free.
Those packs give you emblems and warzone weapons that are relevant to that challenge.
You can't specifically work towards getting particular armor pieces or weapon skins, everything you get from the packs are random. How is this not bad
You can't specifically work towards getting something like armor pieces or weapon skins, everything you get from the packs are random. How is this not bad
That post is about the commendation packs, not the regular REQ packs.
You can't specifically work towards getting particular armor pieces or weapon skins, everything you get from the packs are random. How is this not bad
TF2 is random too the only difference is tf2 doesn't do it in a shit way if you want a certain item you can EASILY craft for it, or even just trade
i forgot to mention that the stuff hes talking about with overshield tanks don't pop up until super late into warzone because of REQ level limitations. The Req Video explains it better than i can. edit:
Not everyone will get a good roll when they open packs.
Gold Req Packs are one of the 3 types of req packs you can get bronze is lowest, silver is middle, gold is highest. gold is a ton o cards with no restrictions of rarity, silver lot of cards with the highest rarity being rare, bronze is ok amount of cards with the highest rarity being common.
i don't know if you guys finished the video at all but he admits the req system isn't that intrusive as it is right now, and he doesn't have that many bad things to say about it at all other than it's potential to get bad with later games 6/10 with a possibility for a 7/10 isn't that bad tbh considering they gut the campaign mode, no splitscreen, no masterchief, a mediocre story, cutscene boss battle, arguably good multiplayer no split screen is fucking shit though and most people i know(who are casual halo fans(which was a pretty casual as fuck game from the start)) bought it and returned it, i don't plan on buying it, and some army guys are also upset because split screen halo was literally all they played because of lack of internet(none of these are the majority of people but i know that it's more than just the people i know that are upset about lack of split screen) and the amount of people that are trying to justify the lack of split screen is absolutely disgusting
Remember when Armor Cosmetics were unlocked by playing the game for a while or doing a rare feat with the odd unlock being a pre-order bonus? Fucking hell, 600 hours or thousands of dollars to get all the unlocks.
Remember when Armor Cosmetics were unlocked by committing time or doing a rare feat with the odd unlock being a pre-order bonus? Fucking hell, 600 hours or thousands of dollars to get all the unlocks.
Working with my buddies to unlock all the armor were some of my best memories of Halo 3 :c
Halo Reach's armor system was really cool too. Some of the helmets were unlocked at high ranks so if you saw people with some certain Armor/Helmets you knew for a fact they were long-time players.
I watched a lets play of the story, that's about as close to buying the game I'm gonna get.
because theres 4 other gamemodes that give just as much fun if not more. its like complaining about mann vs machine in tf2.
thats a terrible example because mann vs machine was the straw that broke the camels back for A LOT of the playerbase
that stuff only appears in warzone play arena if you dont want that. they literally put warzone in another section so you don't ever have to look at it.
And miss out on all of the vehicles in the game? Arena is only 5v5 infantry matches on incredibly small maps with poor spawns. Many of the most popular modes in the previous Halo games were ones riddled with vehicles - which you can only use in Warzone, and you can only get randomly from REQ packs. I want Big Team Battle and Action Sack and Team Snipers. Vehicle spawns and proper power weapon spawns and dumb fun. Not getting stomped by a team with 3 tanks that they spawned in and having no one on our team with any power weapon cards to do anything about it
that stuff only appears in warzone play arena if you dont want that. they literally put warzone in another section so you don't ever have to look at it.
This problem that I have with this is that I want to play casual, non-ranked, big team battles so that I way I don't have to feel like I'm weighing my team down as much if "m not doing too well that round. The Req system only introduces random chances for better gear as you go through the game which leads to the snowball effect with the team that has the better RNG winning the rounds while the others are stuck with the default AR and Mag. This doesn't make the game fun, this doesn't add to the game in any meaningful way, it just tells the player "we don't think you've played enough yet, go grind some more."
Honestly with the whole aging community thing, it's totally true. I personally died off halo after 4, i haven't gotten this game on purpose just because im not interested in the fast paced direction that 343 has taken. I'm not picking it up anytime soon. I prefer the slower days of halo, as opposed to the AW approach of speeding things up, doing ground pounds and having a double jump. It might add to a game but there was a simplicity to Halo 3 that made it so much more enjoyable, the same sort of pace up to reach. Halo 4 was similar but it felt like it was too different with the loadout system, almost alienating. Vehicles were useless because i could constantly just switch to a Plasma Pistol and disable it long enough to pound the shit out of a guy.
