regardless of all the blunders of gdq management i think this gdq has had some of my favorite runs in a few years
some seriously legendary runs this week
and i dont care how scripted they are those sent intros are actually great
Maybe if the donations actually went to where they say they are supposed to go, I would consider donating. Got nothing to do with sub-only mode etc
I just watched the "run" of Enviro-Bear 2000 on the VoD and holy shit, that was amazing. So much fun being had, I can't believe this is GDQ.

Catching up on the awful games block and I am laughing my ass off. I love this.
The awful games block is always great. They had a great selection of games this year, and a ton of enthusiastic runners during the block. Mike Uyama being in on the Awful block gave a specific atmosphere that you don't usually have as well. He was surprisingly relaxed the whole block.
That's what you get when you reduce the audience by making chat sub only.
Less viewers = less donations.
Haven't paid attention to GDQ chat this marathon but apparently its a minefield where you can't say certain words or emotes.
Is that true?

PCF may not be an amazing charity, but they're not a TERRIBLE charity either. They make it clear that PCF focuses on early detection and prevention, and that's what they do. MSF is a better charity so I tend to hold my donation for SGDQ, but they aren't as bad as people make them out to be.

(If you look at the full breakdown for June 2016-2017, $2,032,954 of $7,429,109 in expenses goes to salaries)
~74% to stuff BESIDES payroll is pretty damn good compared to many charities.
People tend to forget that charity is still a business and people need to get paid for their time. PCF is primarily an outreach charity. Their goal is to be active on an issue, put information out there, etc. You need people to do this. Research charities on the other hand don't have that many staffers, so they can give more of the money to the research and less to the employees.
Yeah it'd be nice if they were fully transparent about the money on the GDQ side, but the fact of the matter is that if they put that in front of people, people wouldn't donate the same way they do. Yes that'd mean less money for the people taking a cut, but it'd also mean less money for the actual charity work.
hasn't it had a good viewer count tho. i see it at 135k right now.
i think it's due to the lack of enticing bids more than anything else. kill/save the animals alone brought almost 800k last agdq . undertale bids gave more than 300k. that's over a million from 2 games (both which were the grand finale)
neither of those (especially super metroid) are present. considering how much money that makes it's no surprise the lack of it's presence = less money
[editline]12th January 2018[/editline]
and it hit a mil sooner than agdq 2017 in spite of that anyway
I'm with this, there wasn't anything I wanted to donate for.
I was thinking about it around Burnout Paradise time, but then I saw the incentives and 90% of them were choose character's name/gender in some game I don't care about. The only thing remotely interesting was the Duke3D glitch exhibition.

I'm actually interested in the WC3 run because it just seems like a non-speedrun type game to me... but this dude on the couch that won't stop laughing and talking over everyone is annoying the fuck outta me.
This Diablo run is garbage but in an amazingly funny way.
I recall his run 2 years ago was a lot smoother. Still, this is funny bad. :v:
Suddenly, staircases everywhere.
that diablo guy was mesmerizing
the Diablo guys were very enthusiastic
normally i wouldve probably thought that diablo crew was kinda cringy, but it's great to see people just genuinely having a blast at agdq compared to all the emotionally dead runners that just sit there, do their game and say "hey yea check out my discord see ya..."
Loving the banter and commentary on this Baldur's Gate 2 run
"You got it!"
YOU DIED
"oh"
I do feel bad when a runner chokes hard but that was just funny
Wow that guy on the couch is so rude with his constant backseating.
? Are you memeing because of what Twitch chat has been saying?
She said at the start of the run she has to concentrate so the guy on the couch will explain most of the run.
I meant sometimes he sounds really condescending.
That Farron Skip during that Dark Souls 3 run not working was a shame and a pain in the butt but this tweet basically summarises it

Farron skip is a bitch
This Bloodborne run is going to be so much fun
Nice beard to go with his awesome commentary
Don't you dare meme the beardman
This BloodBorne run is great but why is the couch so dead?
This BloodBorne run is great but why is the couch so dead?
maybe they don't want to interrupt the runner who's doing very well by himself
This guy is so banned :v:
