She also, when pressed about her own bitching, said something along the lines of "I don't care about what is right" or something like that
The only thing I can remember was during all this bullshit she said she was doing all of this for her own personal benefit and community growth.
Yeah I can't find the original Tweet, but she tweeted out something on the lines of "Shame I have to private my Twitter. Losing a ton of potential growth" Found one of the tweets. [t]https://i.imgur.com/BPLGV3T.png[/t] Also, many of the trans runners at the event actually dislike how the GDQ staff handles this shit They turned the chat to emote only mode during Orcastraw's BOTW run. She wasn't happy on Twitter when she found out. She also got a ton of flak for the chat being turned to emote only mode, with people blaming her instead of the GDQ mods. To be honest, the incessant negativity surrounding GDQ is far worse than any of the flaws they harp on about. The past two threads here got so bogged down with haters that nobody who actually enjoyed the show could carry on a conversation. If you don't like GDQ, by all means, don't watch it. But I'd like it if they didn't insist on trying to ruin it for everyone else, too.
Or you know, GDQ could stop being such wet blankets. [editline]5th January 2018[/editline] I mean, why should GDQ improve when it's actually the people with complaints that are at fault! My eyes have been opened.

If you shine a bright enough light on the problems, something will eventually be done about them. If you pretend like they don't exist, things will just keep getting worse. I know many runners who also heavily dislike the way it's run. The thing is, complaining about GDQ essentially barrs you from the event and important parts of the larger community. Even though we all like to make fun of how PMG was bitching about "having to lock her twitter so she was losing growth", it is a massive boost to any runners career as a runner to have a run at GDQ and nobody is going to turn down that potential growth to complain about shitty event organizers.
The GDQ hasn't even started yet, nothing wrong with people voicing their complains from the previous one and hoping they fix it. We like this event a lot to the point where we want to see some improvements, calling us haters is a bit much.

If you re-watch some of the clips from HRDQ, Proto actually did pretty well on the mic and the entire event was fairly laid back. That could have just been due to the impromptu nature of the event, but hopefully it'll be cleaner this year.

I'm not trying to pretend there's no problems. But that's not what happens. The thread (at least how I remember the past two going) turns into a circlejerk of haters, harping on the same tired old points, and whenever someone acts even sort of like they're having fun watching it, they all explode into either "back before they ruined it, every run was this good", "that run actually sucked and you're dumb for liking it", or "yeah but the person who ran it is a douchbag/asshole/SJW and you aren't allowed to like it". That's not going to accomplish anything. If anything, I'm less inclined to listen to legitimate grievances against GDQ simply because, if the detractors had persuasive evidence, they wouldn't need to resort to such tactics. It's not going to convince anyone who wasn't already convinced.
The GDQ hasn't even started yet, nothing wrong with people voicing their complains from the previous one and hoping they fix it. I just would like it if the criticisms moved elsewhere once the actual event started, so those of us who do enjoy it can enjoy it in the company of others who enjoy it, and not have the thread hijacked by people who seem to care more about their agenda than anything else.
It's easy to see how excessively politically correct it is and I only watch the stream for fun. You lose something when people are not allowed to speak freely. It's like improv comedy without the comedy.
I can't wait till we get more runs where somehow there isn't any audio because it's not like you can actively see your audio levels when recording anything... Oh wait
Can't wait for all of the streams to be uploaded to Youtube at 25% of the original audio levels, so when I turn it up to hear better I blow my ears out when I listen to something else:cry:

Speaking of the audio, there are still uploads of full runs from SGDQ on the official GDQ YouTube channel, where the audio is only coming out from the left ear/speaker. The descriptions for the videos still say "There are currently major audio issues with this vod. It will be fixed after the conclusion of the marathon." I don't think they've even tried cleaning up the videos from SGDQ.
"I can't enjoy it if fp isn't enjoying it" what kind of logic is that
I don't need FP to like it. But it's natural, when you enjoy something, to seek the company of others who enjoy it. I'm disappointed that it's so hard to actually do so.
Seriously what's with the super quiet videos?
Seriously what's with the super quiet videos?
General incompetence.
General incompetence.
It ain't that hard to crank the gain up guys

I first watched AGDQ 5 years ago and people were bitching about how disgraceful their technical problems were and they haven't improved at all.
It ain't that hard to crank the gain up guys
Ain't that hard to make the audio levels correct in the first place. I thought these guy were supposed to be "professional". That, and their constant video issues, you'd think after how many of these? That'd know how to fucking get the game video onscreen properly.
the only thing technical-wise that's changed from the first agdq and the current agdq is that they have more expensive equipment. instead of 360p, we got 720p. instead of black background, we got layouts. etc.

There's probably a reason why they don't let the streams see the stations behind the TVs.
They got rid of Metroid? Fucking finally. Every year we lose out on good runs because all anyone cares about is the fucking kill/save the animals incentive. Last year the Metroid incentive was in the thousands before any other incentive even got met. It was actively harming the event because it became a fucking meme.
what does the save/kill the animals incentive have to do with having a metroid run at all though super metroid is like THE speedgame, IMO. it's what I think of when I think of speedruns.
Super Metroid is the best speedgame, but the optimized route is so lethal on runners that you basically have to do a race just to maximize the chances that someone actually finishes it, let alone get a good time.
Super Metroid is the best speedgame, but the optimized route is so lethal on runners that you basically have to do a race just to maximize the chances that someone actually finishes it, let alone get a good time.
who doesn't like ice 14 items races with zoast, zoast & zoast
what does the save/kill the animals incentive have to do with having a metroid run at all though
At the end during the escape sequence you can choose to save some animals you met in the early game who show you how to wall jump, or ignore them and leave them to die. It's slightly faster to ignore them so it turned into a joke incentive that spiralled into an overplayed meme.

Super Metroid is a really good run.
Cause it's getting old

Best solution is just to ax the run, it's done every fucking year anyway. I'm sure people could live without it for a year or two.
