Cause it's getting old
I mean that's pretty subjective, I think Super Metroid is the speedgame and it has a time estimate of what, like 45-50 minutes? Meanwhile Ocarina is still here after all this time and that's a 5 hour run.
Except that for better or worse they're tied together at this point, you can't have one without the other. Best solution is just to ax the run, it's done every fucking year anyway. I'm sure people could live without it for a year or two.
Just don't offer the donation incentive. I know it's tradition, but if it's not there, it's not there. People might still be obnoxious and go "SAVE THOSE ANIMALS" in other donations but they'll be forced to donate elsewhere. The problem is that other incentives are getting no attention, right?
If you include Super Metroid people will still spam kill/save the animals shit. Which could very easily lead to the incentive being reinstated. It's better to remove it from the schedule altogether. Bring Metroid back next year as an incentive for a race or something.

That's just the estimate and since it's ZFG who's doing the run I can pretty much guarantee it ain't gonna be that long. He posted a 4 hour and 10 minute run on his own channel just a week ago.
I'll say one thing, then thank FUCK chrono trigger is gone
More like thank fuck any super long RPG is gone.
:snip:
Ohboyohboyohboy. Can't wait to see the rats nest of cabling this year! Sad that Super Metroid is gone though, that's a good game to run.
I think for me, more than anything, I'm just tired of the format. It's the same donation comments, the same awkward personalities, the same technical issues, the same drama, and many of the same games from recent years. The only parts that seem worth watching live are when the show is taken out of it's comfort zone, like the Tasbot block, the Tetris block, and the interesting races (like the awesome Mario Maker one), and now they seem even fewer and far between. For me to watch live and potentially donate, they really need to give the whole production a big kick up the arse, and given how much money they continue to raise year after year I don't think that's likely to happen soon.
I'll say one thing, then thank FUCK chrono trigger is gone
I mean, it's fun to see games like Chrono Trigger get broken wide open, but 100% / "legitimate" playthroughs with some glitches are an absolute bore.
Still no Mario Maker, something that is legitimately different every fucking year, nope, had to cut that one early.
they already have 7 mario games in the schedule, some of them having been ran years ago with a long break in between
More like thank fuck any super long RPG is gone.
no this is a bad thing because my "go to sleep" block is now gone
Long runs make good background noise since you don't have to micromanage the videos.
Long runs can be pretty memorable if you have a good runner behind it, but it's still a lot of time that could be given to a whole bunch of unique new runs especially since FF7 and Chrono Trigger are done next to every damn year it feels like
Oh my, someone is doing a speedrun of Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko? Wow, and I though I was the only one that liked the 2 3D Gex games. [editline]7th January 2018[/editline]
Cause it's getting old
True, but it's still a great speedrun game regardless.
Except a 100% OOT run hasn't been done since 2015 at AGDQ, and it's not gonna be 5 hours. If I recall, they found a new glitch for Ocarina of Time a while ago and I wouldn't be surprised of they showed it on this run. Still, I'm excited to see the Link to the Past randomizer race, and it's Andy doing it so I'm sure it;'s going to be hilarious like the last time he did a ALttP speedrun.
Honestly if they just leased or payed us for our TV truck and facilities at my work (which operates in the Minneapolis Region where SGQD is often held) we could probably do a better job than power up audio for like 10 grand per day, they're just being cheap and or stupid with incompetent techs. Also we can do 4k streams :v:
Here's a donation message generator if you're stuck on what to write in your donation and want to fit in
First time watching AGDQ, second time runner. My Germany passed away from cancer. Money goes to save the Germany, donate the donation. Hype!!!!
GDQ is off to a roaring start
GDQ is off to a roaring start
imo that's kinda lame if true. I always liked how insane and rabid the chat shitposting was. I just go somewhere else for serious chatting.
Did Twitch get rid of chat rooms? I can't figure out how to switch to the FP chat. [editline]7th January 2018[/editline] Chat rooms seem to only work if I use the legacy pop out chat.
imo that's kinda lame if true. I always liked how insane and rabid the chat shitposting was.
imo that's kinda lame if true. I always liked how insane and rabid the chat shitposting was. I just go somewhere else for serious chatting.
I see a lot of people subbing right now, I don't think chat is going to be down and out of this.
I do like that they appear to have upped the quality this time. The cameras are FAR better, the audio is better, they have proper lighting for once, and they replaced their old layout with a brand new style.
tbh making the chat sub only mode kinda ruins another part of the GDQ spirit. The reaction from the chat. It's always a spectacle to see something really cool live, but it's a little special to see how other people have reaction to it at the same time. But now the fact that people basically have to pay to express their emotions at the moment, kinda destroys that in a way. [editline]7th January 2018[/editline] By the way, do subs also go to charity?
Are custom chat room/channels no longer a thing on Twitch? [editline]7th January 2018[/editline]
By the way, do subs also go to charity?

Twitch subscriber and bits revenue no longer are donated to charity during non-event months. GDQ HOTFIX will be using these funds to put on more great content for you all during the non-event months!
Emphasis on non-event months, so if I understood right they are going towards charity.
If they keep the scripted parts up, this is gonna be an interesting event.
