For this particular trailer I love it because it really reminds me of the times when Sonic was cool to pretty much everyone, instead of many seeing him as a joke.

Sonic CD-style Sonic is a combination of being both a fantastic design and being very easy to see as sort of a separate entity from post-Adventure Sonic.
