Ok Im about 5 hours in. Stop comparing VA-11 HALL-A to Papers Please, it's giving this game too much credit. The drink mixing mechanic is a glorified dialogue selector, not a challenging gameplay mechanic. You're not timed, mistakes can be reset without penalty, and most orders are incredibly obvious. If you like the aesthetic then you probably won't complain, but it should be made clear that this is essentially a visual novel with permutations.
Yeah, I like the game and all, but when you have this little gameplay, you'd think it'd be streamlined a bit more than it is? Like, if I search by flavor, wouldn't it make sense to then organize the drinks by flavor with the arrows, instead of alphabetically? That way I don't have to back out all the way to the flavor selection again just to see if the next drink is non-alchoholic

There have only been two comparisons to Papers Please, and both were in response to people saying this was a straight up visual novel.

it's a "VN" first and foremost. The main attraction of the game is the characters, dialogue and the world.

I would argue the bartending is there to keep the game engaging and to also immerse yourself into the character. They could have easily made dialogue choices instead of making drinks but that makes it less engaging to play.
while there isnt a timer visibly, you do get paid more if you make the drinks fast
