That is awesome, I'll try to see if I can get it to work. Can't wait to analyze my dick with it :D
post results please
post results please
Right now it seems they are set to render the videos they showed in the demonstration. But I'm guessing any video will work.

Need to install some codecs first.
Hahaha, they use MATLAB?

If it works, it's not stupid
I'm currently processing this clip: http://cinelerra.org/footage/rassegna2.avi
I had no other ones to test...
so it's not going to be successful in terms of what things program is meant to do, but I'm just seeing if it's going to process the video. Currently at 50%

Nice it worked :v:

I almost want to make a GD thread about this. This is so cool.
From what they said in the video, I highly doubt this algorithm can be done in realtime on any decent size video, especially not on mobile hardware.

We also built a prototype application that allows users to
reveal subtle changes in real-time from live video feeds, essentially
serving as a microscope for temporal variations. It is implemented
in C++, is entirely CPU-based, and processes 640 480 videos at
45 frames per second on a standard laptop. It can be sped up further by utilizing GPUs
The fact that this is done with normal cameras and can even be done with postprocessed videos (movies) is really amazing.

Run a couple porn videos through it :v
Where the fuck is a vid of boobs I ask. I can't see it. Where is it?
Put a twerking video through it

MATLAB is meant to be an excellent kind of setup to do this kind of thing, isn't it?
Image processing and science-y shit

I don't suppose MATLAB can compile to distributable binaries?
Hahaha, they use MATLAB?
Matlab is pretty standard Scientific software. Pretty much anyone with an engineering background will use it, and it's pretty powerful while still being easy to use. (I teach in Matlab so may be biased)
So can it see ghosts and shit?

I can think of a VERY large number of uses for this.

New death grips videos
So if we would meet aliens whose eyes are more motion-sensitive than ours, they'd see us pulsating and shaking like no tomorrow :v:
Just imagine our first contact
"woah, woah, woah, calm the fuck down, stop shaking I'm not going to eat you. ZX-251 please help me keeping this being still, it's going to vibrate apart"
When you really think about it, it's not that complex but very clever.
If anyone got a short MPEG or any other format except H.264 video of their wrist or something. I'd be glad to process it and upload the results.
Keep it short, and not too big. Hold still.
I have trouble with H.264 encoding for some reason.

On it
1080 at 24fps with an MPEG2 wrapper
https://www.dropbox.com/s/injmi8mglg6rf66/pulse%20test.mpg
It whined about MPEG-2 codec not being found, but I compressed it to MPEG-4 or something with VirtualDub.
It's being processed at this moment.
Currently at 7%.

see someones beats per minute
i don't want to know how much they beat

Oh god. I did not see your pulse (perhaps very faintly). But I saw your muscles going crazy:

you have a gross looking hand

Hm I can't get .MOV files working. Try some other format if you can.
Couldn't some of these methods also work to get higher frame rates in videos?
As it's a kind of prediction of movement and then amplifying them.

Such things have existed for a long time.

Swebonny is it not possible for you to compile it to an exe for us (you can do that with Matlab files I guess?) So all we have to do is select the video to process and the type?
Would be really handy.
I'm serious guys! LSD enables you to see the really small bits of the world magnified
These guys have made a web front-end which allows you to upload your own clips.
