M.I.T. Computer Program Reveals Invisible Motion in Video

I used to experiment with stuff like this. Wanted to apply motion data to oe-cake, so I could generate particles with physical properties from movements in videos.

Whilst this is cool, it isn't overly impressive. They're just comparing various factors over a chosen amount of frames. You could probably do this with temporal smoothing and embossing in virtualdub. Or something similar.

Or in photoshop if you exported the movie to image sequences and then created a batch script to apply varius filters.

There's even a 3rd way using Premiere Pro.

This makes me want to try it.
