My point is since this is a place to post interesting/entertaining videos. There is a place for Game Theory videos. But it seems like there's not alot of MatPat fans around here.
You've posted enough in this subforum to know what people here like and don't like... at least I thought... since you keep trying so hard to shove this horrible content down everyone's throats with the excuse of "well at least one person here likes it!"
Yeah.
You.
Using a popular YouTubers name to smooch success is nothing new.
Just like all of his theories these videos are only made to to piss people off and sway the gullible.
I don't even think he believes alot of the stuff he says, it's all just a viral product.
I'm not surprised he use a Youtuber who as the same audience to snatch some views.
[sp]'talking about kids[/sp]
[sp]But that's just a THEORY![/sp]
I remember a long while ago I watched his Companion Cube theory and I thought it was cool. I don't think that surrounding an entire series on game theories has enough integrity to last, though. At some point I would imagine he either has or will run out of ideas.
The only thing I saw from him that was good was the Binding of Isaac thing he did--Edmund McMillen flat out said that it wasn't entirely accurate, but was pretty close to perfect. I think that's been pushing him to crank out more theories for the most part since that's been his closest confirmed one.

Eh, that just shows me Scott saying "sorry, you're wrong." Anyone know where I can see MatPat's reaction to it?

Yeah, in /r/cringe.
Is this that guy that makes videos about how every main character in every game is actually dead and it's all a dream or some shit.
When he's not trying to apply real world physics to games that clearly don't follow real world physics.
Or pulling shit of his ass and disregarding canon to try and prove his theories.
I personally enjoy his videos, they have good production value and the guy clearly does his homework, and he has a ton of fun making them. omg lol

They have abhorred production value, and the "homework" he does is the equivalent of a 10th grader reading up on Mario Wiki and doing a creative writing homework titled "Super Mario Timeline."

This was legitimately 5th grade assignment that I had to do - I talked about how Super Mario Bros 2 was actually derived from a video game called Doki Doki Panic. I got an A! It was great.
I think the problem is taking things super seriously. I like entering rational discussion about what element of whatever form of media might mean, but you can't be so full of yourself.
imo matpat doesn't take himself seriously at all. but his viewers do, and that's what is shitty.

tbh even the best youtubers have shitty people watching them, nothing anyone can do to prevent that
its not like you can go "lol if your going to worship me then fuck off I'm like, just a guy, please stop, its creepy"
I don't know if anyone remembers this or not, but he made a analysis video of James Rolfe's AVGN character

I'm not really sure what to think of this to be perfectly honest...

Yeah, I used to like GT, but then that video came out and I was like "fuck this shit this guy is fucking stupid"

It doesn't defend his really shit, forced approach to things. Maddox barely got away with it, and that was mostly because his videos were either obviously satirucal, or "why are you overhyping that so much, its really not that big, you moron." But even then, he applied his "I'm right, you're a cock sucker" approach to saying that video game stories are stupid. He got blasted for it.
Game Theory pulls facts out of nowhere, and presents them as truth, in a matter that honestly seems like he's serious. Or else it'd be a lot more obvious that these are satirical videos.
But nope. He presents it as if it's theories he truly believes are true, and in fact pushes as fact.
In other words, yeah, he does take it all pretty damn seriously.

no he takes facts off of wikipedia and uses those facts to make bizarre or funny implications, he ends all of his videos with the cheekiest tone of voice imaginable. Have you seen how matpat acts outside of GT? i think it's hilarious if you think he takes it all "pretty damn seriously".
YouTube Theory: this channel is ass
Game theory
game dreary
i for one support a game theory thread
so then people can stop making individual threads of his videos
If the title of the video isn't a reference to you know what then shit, I'm surprised that MatPat had the brains to not bring up dead memes.
I don't care for Pewdiepie or his work though I respect him since he seems like a down to earth guy that's just doing his "job" and obviously doing it well.
MattPat on the other hand is just downright annoying, as if his voice and tone wasn't annoying enough most of the ideas he presents are very weak and overlook a lot of details. What's worse is some people I know take him completely serious and present shit that he says as if it's completely factual.
Brought to you by one of the other most insufferable youtubers
Do you guys remember that theory that said Zelda has fake boobs???? Guys its a fact!!!

The reason why it works for Maddox is exactly what you said, but also because he does a shit ton of research when it comes to certain stuff. He puts a herculean amount of effort in the way he writes and stuff. It might seem like I'm kissing the guy's ass, but Maddox works really hard to maintain the qualification to speak on a subject.
I don't feel like this guy is even in the same ballpark.
I don't care for Pewdiepie or his work though I respect him since he seems like a down to earth guy that's just doing his "job" and obviously doing it well.

I don't have a problem with PewDiePie because he's kind of the original when it comes to his style of Let's Plays. I just avoid them. It's not my thing, and that's fine. The problem I have are with bandwagoners who try to leech off of his success with a copycat style.

It's only a same ballpark in terms of presentation: they both present their side as objective fact. How they do it, though, is significantly different.

people watch this?
Tbh I like Gnoggin much better. Instead of using real life logic, they use the logic applied to the series they're making a theory on.
For example:

He's also self-aware.
if you can get past his narcissistic personality disorder, horribly unfunny jokes, and annoying voice, his videos aren't all that bad
