Another interesting watch relating to how cinemasins is just dumb.
I mean if you've not got half a brain missing, it's clear to see that some of the nitpicking that CinemaSins does is just for a joke (which based on your humor, you may or may not find funny). I really enjoy CinemaSins videos, some of their criticism is completely valid, some is obviously nitpicking done just to provide extra comedic value. They're not here to "review" films, it's just a bit of fun. Either you like it or you don't

They're not here to "review" films, it's just a bit of fun. Either you like it or you don't
You clearly haven't seen the videos. The problem with Cinemasins is that they ignore the facts, then complain about things and try to play it off as a "joke". How is it a criticism if you purposefully ignored the part of the film that literally answered the question you had?

That's one of the HUGE portions of it. Please actually watch.

Either you like it or you don't
I can tell you didn't watch the video in the OP because he addresses this exact defense roughly 2-3 minutes in.
I didn't watch the whole video, I don't need someone tearing something apart that I enjoy watching, basically telling me not to enjoy it. Maybe I'm being ignorant, but I find the videos funny, I laugh, and I don't take them seriously (because they're not supposed to be). They've done some movies that I love, and it doesn't make me feel anything less of them. Am I not supposed to enjoy the videos? Or am I supposed to agree why other people don't enjoy them? Guess I'm not really one for this discussion, I'm not the target audience of these videos.
I don't need someone tearing something apart that I enjoy watching, basically telling me not to enjoy it
So why did you come to a thread called "Why CinemaSins is Terrible" if you didn't want someone tearing apart what you enjoy watching?
I mean if you've not got half a brain missing, it's clear to see that some of the nitpicking that CinemaSins does is just for a joke (which based on your humor, you may or may not find funny).
So why did you come to a thread called "Why CinemaSins is Terrible"
Because I enjoy it and don't think it's terrible?
Because I enjoy it and don't think it's terrible?
But then you refuse to hear any criticism about it and refuse to watch the actual video? What are you doing here then? Just rating people dumb because they don't like the click-baity videos you do? [editline]13th November 2017[/editline] It's kind of astounding the number of morons that come to the defense of the shitty videos Cinemasins makes.
Because I enjoy it and don't think it's terrible?
If you're going to criticise others for criticising something you like, you have to actually listen to the points they have by watching the videos. Otherwise you're not creating a discussion/leading a discussion anywhere. At least TRY to address the criticism in the videos by watching the things...
Because I enjoy it and don't think it's terrible?
It's exactly the same misleading argument and presentation form that Anita Sarkeesian employs in her videos. Just FYI. no difference.
I think it's pretty impressive he managed to get a clip of the actual cinema sins guy alluding to this issue despite basically being part of it. I basically agree with his three points and I think videos like this are a much better way of talking about this than just taking the piss of cinema sins. But I think it's important we acknowledge that cinema sins is basically the worst case scenario, and that we at large basically have this problem stretched over the entire way we approach media, media criticism and media literacy. As a somebody super involved in the whole gaming sphere I think just how bad criticism is in gaming is actually actively harming the medium. I think it's more important we talk about that problem as opposed to lampooning cinema sins in particular. Look at their car criticism of Guardians of the Galaxy: it's serious and it literally makes me cringe. This is criticism that is being heard and nodded along to by regular movie goers and it's fucking awful criticism. I mean the bloody worst. But it's the most accessible and viewed stuff out there. I don't mean to sound arrogant but: cinema sins is bad criticism and bad criticism is bad for art. Bad criticism is ubiquitous on the internet, from some dude with 5 followers on Twitter to massive media outlets like IGN. Cinema sins is a small part of a much larger issue. I'd like to add a few other decent critics to his list: Lindsey Ellis Movies With Mikey Patrick (H) Willems Nitpix

If you can't take criticism on something you like because you're afraid it will change your opinion on it, then your words mean nothing.
Because I enjoy it and don't think it's terrible?
I like something, so I'm not going to hear any criticism of it, just going to go into places where people say they don't like it, and say I like it, for reasons that are addressed and criticized in the video the thread was created about.

I don't really care about the "idea behind Cinemasins" or what they're trying to portray or whether they're genuine or not. I care about whether it's funny, whether it works, and it clearly does because it has a large audience of people that enjoy it. Sure there are people that don't enjoy it, and they have these points as to why they don't, but that doesn't make it terrible, that's not a fact, that's an opinion. Some tv shows can be god damn awful but they're funny, deep down you know the show isn't that great but the humor keeps you watching

[editline]well shitttttt[/editline] fuckin ninjad seriously tho its cool to like something but what the christ was that post even

This video predicted, down to the exact detail, exactly how people like you would respond. If anybody was on the fence after watching this video, and then saw your comments, they would immediately go "Wow, that guy in the video was right, huh?" You're trying to defend CinemaSins but the irony is that you're only hurting them by proving the video 100% correct in real-time. If you want CinemaSins to continue to do well, I would advise you stop sabotaging them.
It's not supposed to be taken seriously, of course these two videos apparently prove that as false (I don't see how, maybe that makes me stupid), but you know, I don't take it seriously. They're videos on the internet. It sucks if people are taking it seriously, but I don't think that's CinemaSins's fault [editline]13th November 2017[/editline]
It's truly, honestly, incredibly amazing how prophetic this video was. That ending line is absolute fucking murder. [sp]"The worst thing about CinemaSins' Everything Wrong With series isn't that their content is a low-effort clickbait garbage fire. It's that they somehow tricked their fans, and themselves, into thinking that garbage fire is art, which lowers the bar for art... "... and for garbage fires."[/sp] Holy shit. :godzing:
I'm glad to see we got to have a real meaningful discussion about the points brought up in this video and nobody derailed it by being a strawman of exactly the kind of person you'd think you'd only find on r/cinemasins.

It's ok. We all do that sometimes.
