Funnily enough, I sent a request for them to play Erie.
Erie would be terrifying if the monster wasn't so goofy looking. The design is so comically nonthreatening it just kills the mood.
Yeah, give the game a bit of polish and it's a killer. I actually want to try it out.
Erie would be terrifying if the monster wasn't so goofy looking. The design is so comically nonthreatening it just kills the mood.
it should be more like the one in the thumbnail.
Erie would be terrifying if the monster wasn't so goofy looking. The design is so comically nonthreatening it just kills the mood.
It was the weird death animation that killed it for me, where it just starts dancing on your corpse.
It was the weird death animation that killed it for me, where it just starts dancing on your corpse.
It's supposed to be eating it.
It's supposed to be eating it.
I know but it doesn't look like that at all, but apparently they're going to fix that so at least they're aware of that.
I know but it doesn't look like that at all, but apparently they're going to fix that so at least they're aware of that.
still they need to make it like the one in the thumbnail. [editline]25th October 2012[/editline] i just posted a comment requesting chzo mythos.
It might also be scarier if the monster had more than one animation outside of scripted events. Watching him comically run in place kinda takes me out of it.
I think the best part about the monster is that we had ZERO idea of what it looked like before it appeared 2 feet infront of Pat's face, making it initially horrifying. A couple of stupid death animations later, though, it wasn't as scary.
What the hell was that thing on the window?
Erie looks like it could run on an older pc, does anyone know what are minimal/recommended specs? EDIT: Found it, guess I won't play it on this notebook.
Specs to run the game The game runs great on my workstation, not so well on my old PC. You should have 4G of ram (min.), a good graphics card and make sure Direct X is up to date. Windows only.
should i make a seperate thread for erie? I don't want this one to be clogged up.
Erie is one of the best they've done so far in the shitstorm of scariness. I love the ones where they are actually terrified. Call of Cthulhu was another good one.

They should play Jaws Unleashed. Sure, the game isn't scary, but it's BASED off of a horror movie! Besides, it's possibly the only time "so bad it's good" applies to video games.
It's supposed to be eating it.
Certainly a unique way to animate eating.
Erie is one of the best they've done so far in the shitstorm of scariness. I love the ones where they are actually terrified. Call of Cthulhu was another good one.
Cry of Fear too was a great one. I'd love to see a full playthrough. They went into it expecting your typical run of the mill HL mods. They got something so much better.
;38175743']I'd kill for a full Ju-On let's play, easily the funniest imo and one of the only ones that's seemed to genuinely shock/scare them, at least a little
I would love so see them do a let's play on Ju-On. They should play two players. [sp]If you plug in the second Wiimote you can you can trigger random jump scares.[/sp]
Holy shit, I've never been so scared of something so fucking retarded in my life. Fucking Erie man.
Imagine how amazing Erie would be with better atmosphere and a less retarded monster. Like, if the thing chasing you ACTUALLY looked scary, toss in some spookier lighting, it'll have everyone shitting their pants until it is discovered and subsequently ruined by Reddit.
Slender wasn't ruined by Reddit, it was ruined by the fact that it sucked.
Slender wasn't ruined by Reddit, it was ruined by the fact that it sucked.
It wasn't even a catestrophic kinda suck either, it was just a mediocre game with an admittedly cool concept. But then every 12 year old with a computer got ahold of it and it became "TEH SCAWWIEST GAEM OF ALL TEIMZORZ!!1!"
Slender was bad because it didn't (and couldn't) utilize the effects that make things like Marble Hornets scary. There's no visible reaction from the player character, though the strong reactions from characters in the ARGs let you know that Slenderman is a threat. In the game, when you see Slenderman, you just stand there. As does Slenderman; he poses no real threat. There's also no feeling of helplessness. When you watch an ARG, theres the feeling that everything you're seeing has already happened and can't be changed. If something goes wrong, you can't do anything about it. However, in Slender, if some thing goes wrong, it's as easy as turning around and walking away. Pardon any spelling errors, typing on an iPod touch with a very unstable Internet app and I don't want to fix them while risking a crash.
Erie would be terrifying if the monster wasn't so goofy looking. The design is so comically nonthreatening it just kills the mood.
actually the first time you see it, it added to the scaryness for me
slender feels like the minecraft of horror games. really simplistic and cheap, otherwise average game, held aloft by the merit that it's easy to run, easy to learn, and floating on mountains of undeserved youtube hype that inevitably makes it look like a huge piece of shit to everyone on the outside
Slender wasn't ruined by Reddit, it was ruined by the fact that it sucked.
It lost any vestige of fear when they introduced the "Slender just wants $20" meme.
Erie would be terrifying if the monster wasn't so goofy looking. The design is so comically nonthreatening it just kills the mood.
Yeah, and who's idea was it to stick a stupid animation of it after you die? The best way to make a scary monster is to make it so you DON'T see its for any extended period of time. [editline]25th October 2012[/editline] Oh, Cryostasis. I knew they'd do this one eventually.
[editline]25th October 2012[/editline]
It lost any vestige of fear when they introduced the "Slender just wants $20" meme.
That wasn't created by Reddit, this did:
