Just imagine if cockatoos had legs like flamingoes, just walking about on those long spindly legs while spouting nonsense about bed rats and how they can't work.
i haven't laughed this hard in a very long time
thanks Facepunch!

Birds might not be for you then.
It also depends on the bird. Like you can potty train a Parrot IIRC.
And the biting depends on how well you raise it.
I now seriously consider getting a bird, except it requires such a commitment that makes it unfeasible for me to.
I would recommend against getting any sort of parrot, they can be cute AF, but they're really temperamental, and often times live a very long time. There's also a surplus of unwanted ones that come from abusive situations, it's really horrible.
A big part is they can also be very "territorial" about people, My sister's parrot for example, will attack anyone but her or her boyfriend, and it took a year or so for the parrot to even like him.

Nah, Kids grow up in 16-20 years, parrots stay parrots for their entire life (anywhere from 10-60+! years)

no matter how well we treat her she's still a raving bitch lol, granted we picked her up from another owner so who knows how much damage was done? we got two birds from them, the other one was incredibly chill and relaxed - never bit, never screeched. but when we got his wings clipped, apparently the vet didn't do a good enough job because he flew off into the distance right when we brought him home later that day

I have a male ringneck that's pretty much never in his cage (yes that requires a lot of cleaning) and he's been pretty aggressive in the past and still is a bit towards other people. He seems to know very well not to bite and lunge at me because I let him know that he's not allowed to. It may sound silly but just going after him while saying "no biting" so he got a little bit scared seemed to be enough. I can't pet him or anything (yet?) but he can get on my arm to eat. This works for objects he's not allowed to bite either and he does seem to listen.
I haven't had other parrots so I wouldn't know for sure but I feel ringnecks are a bit more timid or agressive in general compared to larger parrots I’ve seen IRL. I've also heard female ringnecks tend to be a bit more territorial.

I've had him for about 4 months and he's about 1 year old and he was not tame when I got him.
I love the sassyness of this guy

I didn't know ravens could mimic sounds too.
why the fuck do ravens sound like microsoft sam
They just imitate their environment in hopes of blending in. I don't know if Cockatoo's will do this in particular, but some species of birds can mimic other birds to exploit them for food.
To us it sounds like gibberish because we can tell they are just sampling sounds at random from their memory.
Bluejays; they're known as the most useful assholes because they can mimic both prey and predators so they can warn prey birds or scare away predators.
But then imitate prey to get at their food.

I'm gonna bookmarking this thread for a rainy day
I remember when a crow learned my phones ringtone and would sit in the morning on the roof making that sound, always woke me up thinking someone were calling me.
What the fuck is up with those crows and ravens. They are so eerie at times.
