far cry 2 was good this will be better
Far Cry 2 was pretty annoying, but at least this one looks better.

Would like some kind of realism mode, where you cant take 10 bullets in your chest without dying, and other additions. Also, I cant get over that every soldier carries a knife and they die on the spot if they get stabbed in the shoulder.
I really want some other game to steal the massive amounts of unwarranted popularity away from Call of Duty so that at least not everybody and their fucking grandmother decries anything with sub-par animations, directional damage indicators and ironsights as a "CoD clone", regardless of whether they dislike the series themselves. Honestly, besides the bizarre FOV and the unfitting dubstep that just screams "We're trying to pander to the worst of our audience", I quite like the look of the game and honestly don't see the big issue. I really like the pacing of the gunplay, and it's a hell of a lot better than most games that just force you to take cover to regenerate your face every two seconds. I'm aware that it probably won't be too similar in the actual game when playing on normal/hard mode or whatever, but it seems to at least have some good flow and isn't bogged down by bullet-sponge enemies like FC2 was.
Love the doctor.
God damn it. Fuck you all. I'm reinstalling the first Far Cry again. I can't take this. Every time I read about FC2 or (now) FC3, I just can't forget how far the title has fallen. The first one was absolutely amazing. Love that game to Hell and back.
This demo has a part of you using stealth, for a little bit.
Though admittedly, this video looks pretty interesting. Even if the story, as he explains it ("your girlfriend is missing, your boat is destroyed, and you're trapped on a Pacific island") is a copy-paste of the first FarCry storyline. This game may yet show some promise. We'll see. [editline]18th February 2012[/editline]
And how exactly has this game fallen? Hope they keep the AI from FC2, it was pretty good when it wasn't glitching out.

It's only a matter of time. It's happened for Quake, UT, and Halo. Soon we will have a new series to compare everything to, to bitch about their completely legitimate business practices, and make hyperbole-laden conspiracy drivel about. It's probably not going to be Far Cry, though.
Love the doctor.
Seems like they've created some cool characters for this game. When that first gameplay trailer was released the guy with the weird hair stuck out really well in a good way to me, same with the doctor in this one. Hopefully all the characters, or most of them at least, are like that.
made me think of: Wow, he even jumped off the ship in a daring escape like Fc1. :v: Did they really do the disease thing again...?
Even if the story, as he explains it ("your girlfriend is missing, your boat is destroyed, and you're trapped on a Pacific island") is a copy-paste of the first FarCry storyline.
Even the (questionable) titles of Farcry: Predator and Evolution had similar storylines at the basics. Farcry 2 was, literally, a far cry from the previous entries, even if some people hated the console titles. But in any case, Far Cry 3 doesn't look bad to me - maybe not great, but not warranting of the 'OH GOD CALL OF DUTY HORSESHIT' cries. (god i've been defending CoD lately, but even if that series is in the gutter, it's getting repetitive and annoying to see/hear all the bitching and moaning every time a new FPS comes out)
I've said this before and I'll say it again. Bring back the predator storyline.
You guys suck, I think this game looks quite awesome and that mention of it being open world and ten times larger than Far Cry 2 makes me want it even more.
Far Cry will forever hold my gaming heart. I spent about 10 hours with my friend when we were about 10 playing it on the hardest mode and trying to figure out how to kill everything. [editline]18th February 2012[/editline] Far Cry 2 was still enjoyable, the open world elements were still really fun and the fire mechanics. Sometimes I would just light shit on fire and watch it spread, or try to complete missions only by creating fire storms and stuff.
I personally think this looks bloody fantastic, this looks nothing like CoD aside from it being a FPS.
quit comparing far cry 3 to your nostalgic views of far cry 1, instead start thinking of far cry 3 as its own game
quit comparing far cry 3 to your nostalgic views of far cry 1, instead start thinking of far cry 3 as its own game
so many nostalgia goggles in this thread
Oh yeah that looks so much like Call of Duty, especially all that driving and freeroaming that Call of Duty is so famous for. [editline]18th February 2012[/editline]
I've said this before and I'll say it again. Bring back the predator storyline.
Hell naw, all that mutant shit ruined the whole second half of Far Cry 1. If there's one thing that FC2 did right, it's that it didn't have any of that mutant bullshit.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. Bring back the predator storyline.
I agree. That shit was crazy.
Replace the dubstep and you have a good game.
would everyone stop fucking bitching about the dubstep holy shit it's just a bit of music for fuck sakes
would everyone stop fucking bitching about the dubstep holy shit it's just a bit of music for fuck sakes
I'll stop bitching about dubstep when I stop listening to it.
Replace the dubstep and you have a good game.
Dubstep is actually quite catchy in this game. I don't like dubstep in general, but this game is making it right. I also like how it changes the sound when he's underwater.
Dubstep is actually quite catchy in this game. I don't like dubstep in general, but this game is making it right. I also like how it changes the sound when he's underwater.
Dubstep doesn't belong in this sort of game. It's a tropical setting, I'm not saying they should start playing Hanna lu lu or something, but the only 'genre' dubstep can fit in would be with Syndicate, Deus Ex, shit like that. Where it's more sci-fi, and not.. A tropical setting on a beach. Onto the game; It looks boring. Same style of run and gun call of duty has, with a craptastic hud that just clutters the screen. Press A to climb. Show casing the 'demo' on Xbox 360 first, then porting it to PC, way to go Ubisoft. The character shown in the cinematic trailer doesn't seem like the type that would pull out a knife and jab the guy in the chest. He seems more of the type to slit a throat, or put a gun to their back and pop pop. The graphics look subpar at time, the draw distance LOD is lacking. They could of done what Crysis did, but no, Console. I love how the AK model and animations are similar to what you see in animations of what some people make for Counter Strike Source. Seriously. This is not looking to be a promising game. I like the tropical setting, only because it adds colour to the game. They could add .. different variables of enemies. Not just people dressed in Hawaii stuff.
I dont understand why it looks like shit for everyone... I like it to be honest.
I don't get it. So they made a trailer showing gameplay but they altered the way it's played to super easy mode. Then when people start complaining that it's a run and gun made by bulletsponge you people go "but that's not how the gameplay is going to look like, they made it on godmode obviously". Then what's the point of the gameplay trailer?
I love how the AK sounds like a gas blowback airsoft gun :v: [editline]18th February 2012[/editline] interest = lost
