Probably because Bounty Hunter with crazy alien tech vs galactic conspiracy sounds fun and black goo bioshock sounds derivative as hell.
Honestly, bounty hunter in space sounds like games we already have in a lot of ways.
I was super, super stoked for Prey 2 when I saw that game footage years ago. Now that time has gone on, and we've had the glut of open world games we have, they have lost their magic in certain ways and I really can't be certain Prey 2 would be the game we wanted it to be.
Our dreams are rarely what we want them to be.
You mean shitty shovelware like Fallout 3, Skyrim and Fallout 4?
"Games I don't like are shovelware!"
No, stuff like Wet, and Rogue Warrior. Bethesda cancelled Prey 2 because they didn't want their name to be possibly tainted again.
The twist of this game is going to involve the protagonist from Prey 1 showing up.

The theory is that because Beth didn't want their name to be possibly tainted again they wanted to buy out Human Head so they could have full control over the project, but they refused so Beth cancelled the project.
And a lot of people think cancelling a project because the developers refused to be bought out is kinda scummy.
Is that the fucking Half-Life 1 walking sound they're using for some surfaces? (1:39 - 1:41 among others)
I mean Valve like many others use royalty free sound effects and textures, but I've never heard that sound in a non-valve game before
If you haven't heard of the "Bethesda Buyout" theory, this video lays it out:

also it would explain why there was pamphlets in the FO:NV instruction manual about prey 2 coming out very soon. I really doubt a publisher would release that much material for a game they were planning to can.
no he was talking about prey 2
Calling this game Prey was a really unfortunate decision, I wish they hadn't but oh well, it's too late now.
I have a feeling one of the main reasons its called Prey is to pay homage to the book this game is pretty much based off of.

I have a feeling it's because the modern video game industry is relying too much on the marketability of already established titles instead of just making up new names for new games.

the mainstream game audience doesn't give a shit about the 2006 prey game, if they could even remember it
I hope they take away the enemy health bars, looks like it clutters the hud
I hate it when games do the disappearing hud until you need it trick for the sake of ~~~immersion~~~. I'm playing a videogame, not watching a movie. I want all the counters and health bars available to me at all times. Today's resolutions are more than enough to support all that. If the game is good, you'll get immersed no matter what. How much HUD is on the screen doesn't play a role.

This is a problem with the industry that's bigger than just the original Prey. This is not the first time publishers tack on the name of some old game on a newer one in hope of selling more copies. The countless of unnecessary reboots over the years prove that much.

Also the original Prey was great, screw you guys.
