• Lost Soul Aside - An Unreal Engine 4 "indie" game

For one dude this is absolutely impressive work. If I take a look at the actual game, there are things that could be improved though, but they aren't major critics, the trailer is also incredibly long. The quality of the environments don't seem to very constant and a couple of animations seem sloppy. The VA could be better but it's not like you don't hear bad AAA VA too. All in all, this could be a great game, even if you ignore the team size, most of the flaws are solvable with more time but the artstyle and characters are top-notch and the gameplay seems really solid. Looking forward to see more of this game.
"indie"
Well, it literally is. I would put quotes on games that try to be indie, but really aren't, which there are just too many of these days.

Saw this posted on reddit. He used a lot of assets from the UE4 marketplace: https://www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/comments/4viyth/how_is_this_even_possible_one_person_made_this_in/
To me, this shit is highly motivating. The tools are there now, UE4 is free, and many other industry standard content creation tools are available for individuals to own at reasonable prices or free. Making the art is totally up to will power. My biggest criticism of this would be the setting and overall design. It's fairly cliche, though meticulously put together. It's up to the creator to decide what he or she wants to create, so my criticism is subjective. Overall, this looks pretty good for what it is. Nothing completely mind-blowing (aside from it being developed by one person) but something decent, which is something to brag about.
I think aesthetically it looks amazing, but the writing definitely seemed shallow. Very generic dialogue and voice-acting. Would still play it, though.
People say "one guy" made it. I highly doubt he created all the models, textures and sound effects shown here. Unless he is an art student or something, and all this is basically a part of his everyday studies and stuff.

A good chunk of what you see is bought assets, however some stuff in their was made by him, such as the model for the main character. He says the game is far from completion so it's possible he'll change these assets with custom-made ones, maybe.
