This is before the first movie.
So why does all technology look a hundred times more advanced
It's so annoying
Kinda lame the facehuggers reveal is same old peer into eggsack pop out jumpscare.
I really hope this is good. The Alien IP has had nothing but shit for fucking ever. I liked Prometheus but it wasn't really Alien material.
I dig Alien as much as anyone, but I'm not sure how hyped I am at watching a movie go through the exact same plot devices again.
The trailer didn't really excite me at all, everything looked very predictable and familiar.
I'm excited
Heard that [sp] the new creature is called the neomorph[/sp]
I... actually hate that name, as [sp]it implies that Xenomorph is the original creature's name. It's not, even in the film in which the term Xenomorph is used it's just a reference term for ALL unknown alien species. Sure it's the nickname now, but if the term Xenomorph comes up at all, that's REALLY dumb.[/sp]
I'm disappointed Blokamp's crazy original Alien stuff got cancelled for what looks like a remake of Alien 1.
Wasn't Niel Blomkamp supposed to direct the next Alien movie?
Wasn't Niel Blomkamp supposed to direct the next Alien movie?
He has a sequel in the works that would negate Alien 3 & Resurrection. It's been put on the back burner for this film.
I'm really hoping for this to be a good 2-hour long apology for Prometheus. Preferably with an effigy of Damon Lindeloff getting his head chomped off by the Alien, but I'll understand if that's not included.
Can we stop doing sequels?
Can we stop doing sequels?
Nothing wrong with sequels if they turn out good.
Looks very 'meh' to me. There's nothing in the trailer that we haven't seen before in any of the previous entries. It's all up to how good the script will be.
Is this the same planet from Prometheus?
As hopeful as I am for this there's no way I can be genuinely excited for this after Prometheus
Is this the same planet from Prometheus?
Definitely not.
I'm disappointed Blokamp's crazy original Alien stuff got cancelled for what looks like a remake of Alien 1.
It's not cancelled. His version of Alien is still coming.
Looks interesting - finally nice to see more than just production photos!
On the other side of this, why do people always staring down the top of some wriggly egg thing is a good idea?
That entire scene is kind of like the sci-fi version of the trope "Radio/TV in same room as character happens to hear news/information that progresses narrative".
I'd like to see some freely roaming facehuggers.
It's not cancelled. His version of Alien is still coming.
Well they're gonna have to make it soon, Sigourney Weaver is in her late 60s now.

it's based on an older ripley, so that isn't a problem, unless they want to have her doing crazy stunts that require a double (which she'll have anyway).
-nevermind-
I sort of feel like the Alien franchise is good where it is and they should let it be.
I really hope they actually try to follow quarantine procedure, unlike in Alien and Prometheus. The scariest movies for me are the ones where people don't act like idiots and get fucked anyway.
considering there's people walking around on an alien planet with seemingly no face protection, my hopes of that died in this trailer
[editline]25th December 2016[/editline]
it literally cannot get worse than "scared, shitting himself character who suddenly attempts to befriend a fucking alien snake because ??????"

I wan't to believe that this wont be as brain dead stupid as Prometheus, but I'm not that optimistic.
oh fuck yes
only thing i'm disappointed about is the fact that it's not A) after the original alien and B) WHERE THE FUCK ARE MY COLONIAL MARINES?

That's what Blomkamp's Alien movie will be if he ever gets round to it.
Can't wait for Neil Blomkamp to somehow twist his Alien movie into a tired commentary of the Apartheid

poor discriminated aliens rise up against big bad way-yu
looks like a fan film lol, will wait and see reviews before i watch it
I'm cautiously excited, it seems they're actually trying to go for the Alien aesthetic instead of generic 2010s scifi movie. Though there are compromises, like those ARs.

Look at that, actual buttons! What looks like CRT screens embedded into the consoles!
Compare it with Prometheus...

And yes, they always have excuses like varying levels of tech and 'prettiness' based on how new or how civilian oriented the ships are. That doesn't matter in the end, pretty ships look awful.
How was the difference in technology explained anyway?
Prometheus looked really advanced compared to the other movies stuff, but isn't it a prequel?
