In what fucking universe was Halo's aesthetic not the spitting image of generic before? If anything, the way shit looks now is different than most contemporary sci-fi. Do you even know what generic means?
Exactly. The Human tech looked very.. modern. Most of the Human tech looked like it could be made in this era, other then the obvious stuff like the space ships.

They had plating everywhere and they made sense. Look at this, the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn. Badass? Yes. Does it seem reasonable considering the Covenant have big-ass shields? Yes. But does it look like it went into a "Star Trek Makeover Spa"? No. NOW LOOK AT THIS FUCKING IT LOOKS LIKE A FAILED ABORTION! Just look at it! It looks like someone took an aircraft carrier and put the fucking Willis Tower on it 3 times over. It doesn't look functional, it doesn't look good, it looks like it would make a rather loud thud when it starts to launch off a planet. IT'S ALSO GOT SHIELDS! NOT ONE UNSC SHIP HAS SHIELDS; THEY DON'T HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY IN THE GAMES NOR THE NOVELS
You realize everything in Halo was designed by an artist and not space engineers from the future right?
and that is where the problem with halo lies we need time travellers to confirm whether or not in 500 years we're still using bullets
IT'S ALSO GOT SHIELDS! NOT ONE UNSC SHIP HAS SHIELDS; THEY DON'T HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY IN THE GAMES NOR THE NOVELS
The Infinity has reverse engineered Forerunner and Covenant Technology (which is how they made the shields for the Mjölnir armour BTW). They have a Forerunner Engineer they found on the Shield World Onyx on board helping them adapt it all.
Too bad it's the USS Mary Sue
How, how the fuck is it a Mary Sue? Can you not come into every Halo thread and shit talk? We get it, you don't like Halo 4/5 you don't need to remind us every time you post.

Fuck this scene with a rake wrapped in barbed wire that's been coated in fucking acid. Can you remember when the covenant where a threat? Remember how imposing it was to see their ships hanging above you? Can you imagine terrifying it would be to see that ship moments before it glasses your entire planet? Neither can 343 apparently.

In Halo 4, they are a group of different species trying to stand up on their own 2 feet.

In Halo 4, they are a group of different species trying to stand up on their own 2 feet.
Doesn't mean they shouldn't be portrayed a threat to at least a minimal degree. The fact that they just show them literally plowing through a covenant ship just makes me think "why even bother making these guys antagonists?" Regardless of story consistency, it removes all sense of danger.
They're still a threat to the majority of the Human fleet. Infinity is the only ship of its class, it cannot be everywhere at once. Not that they need to worry about it. They're at peace.
That's not the point I'm making. It makes sense from story/lore standpoint for it to be able to do that. From a thematic standpoint, based on the message it sends, it's shit.
Doesn't mean they shouldn't be portrayed a threat to at least a minimal degree. The Master Chief, a single soldier, would still have a hard time defeating a ship on his own.
How, how the fuck is it a Mary Sue? Can you not come into every Halo thread and shit talk? We get it, you don't like Halo 4/5 you don't need to remind us every time you post.
It's a mary sue because it's written to be the best thing since sliced bread.
It's a mary sue because it's written to be the best thing since sliced bread.
Mary Sue is being used too liberally here. A character or entity that is perfect, has little or negligible flaws and has the adoration and affection/preference of the cast as they do many things no one else cannot as the plot bends to their whim. You can't quite apply it to the ship since Infinity itself isn't a character, and it sure as hell isn't perfect. While I do dislike the implausibility of it being built in the background during the Covenant War for the sake of it being there for Halo 4, it works as a setting and consistent basis for the SPARTAN-IVs and cast rather than just another warship.
You realize everything in Halo was designed by an artist and not space engineers from the future right?
It's not an engineering, it's just that they completely dropped the original Halo's art direction. That's the biggest reason I disliked 4 so much, they just did a 180 on the tech and the lore and the art direction.

It has like 3 MAC cannons that fire insanely fast, energy shields that are complimented with forerunner tech and it's larger then a covenant super carrier. It just keeps crashing for some unknown reason.
I don't see anything wrong with Infinity, it actually fits into the lore pretty well. The covenant are just a bunch of dumbasses that barley understand the tech they use and rely on the engineers to keep their things going. They were defecting to the UNSC by the time of Halo 3. Humans are also really smart and good with technology, such as the shield technology they use on the Spartans (in the books its actually better than elite shields). The end of Reach shows a god tier human ship on the planet. Its really just the next logical step

Jesus christ. As for Infinity... It looks like a cool clean silhouette. You don't even really explain what doesn't work aesthetically, you just say "it doesn't look good." How nebulous is your grasp on these things?
If you haven't noticed that Halo takes inspiration from Aliens and Syd Mead it sounds like you've never played Halo.
Spartan. An ad hominem? I'm not fucking surprised at all.
That god tier human ship showed up on Reach 30 years later.
Yes.... That's the point I was making, If humans are gonna have god tier ships in 30 years than the Infinity seems like the middle point. Humans also understand warfare unlike the covenant which is why they always won the ground battles in the books. It makes sense that when they could they would build a ship that would kick their ass with all that technology at their disposal. Need I go on?

It randomly shows up out of know where with tech that the UNSC shouldn't have for 30 years. You even see ships similar to that ship at the end of Halo: Reach at the end of Halo 4 which takes place 4 years after the end of Halo 3. And I remember correctly the UNSC only won ground battles because of numbers most of the time.
But the Infinity is literally written to be perfect. But not a Mary Sue, unless the Infinity suddenly became all sentient and was like 'notice me sempai' and shit
oh god watch that happen
-Announcer sounds awful -sword looks awful -Spartans shouldn't talk and they sound awful -etc few little things Other than that, I personally like it. As much as I kinda like the ironsights, it doesn't fit the Halo series right. [editline]12th November 2014[/editline] oh god, the way he says "DOUBLE KEEL" :shudder:
To me infinity is just a huge cockslap to the risky and badass as fuck tactics employed by the space fleet in the first place. Like the keys loop or the whole bait and switch in reach. Giving the humans this massive indestructible and powerful ship ruins what the UNSC is. Like the humans were totally fucked but thanks to a supersoldier they won the covenant war with risky and underhanded tactics.
