chromehounds guild wars 2 (i'm counting it because its not a mmo subscription model)
chromehounds got shut down. guild wars 2 supports itself the way guild wars 1 did. NCSoft's gigantic MMO line-up.
Then a video was probably a poor choice of format for displaying what he has done.
That was my point, he probably isn't trying to demonstrate everything that he has done. It's just a video of him walking around and shooting at nothing to show he hasn't stopped working on it.
If a man does us wrong.
okay now we're getting to the part i care about how in the world has notch done you wrong???
but they look shit
Then use a texture pack. That is what they are there for.
okay now we're getting to the part i care about how in the world has notch done you wrong???
I edited my post above.
And before you ask what he has done wrong: Gone from weekly updates to one update every several months. A lot of unfulfilled promises with minecraft. (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Upcoming_features scroll down to planned features, items and blocks. Some are from forever ago and still aren't done. See lanterns from the haloween update) Being sort of a douche after his rise to popularity. Wanting to charge a monthly fee for a game that should have none.
Just a couple off the top of my head.
but they look shit
You know that huge TEXTURE PACKS button on the main menu? Yeah? Use it. I personally find the vanilla textures to be pretty.
I edited my post above. Just a couple off the top of my head.
are you serious? he's done you wrong because he didn't update minecraft enough, and because he was "sort of" a douche? and if you read that wiki you'd see that most of those features are currently implemented in the snapshots so :(
What does the name mean? "Zero time ten to the power of c" ? What? Am I missing something?
Well, if we read it from a programmer's perspective, "0x" is a common prefix denoting a hexadecimal number, and "^" is the operator for bitwise XOR. So it would be 16 XOR c. Still doesn't make sense though.
are you serious? he's done you wrong because he didn't update minecraft enough, and because he was "sort of" a douche? and if you read that wiki you'd see that most of those features are currently implemented in the snapshots so :(
I am deathly fucking serious. He pretty much stopped developing on minecraft for a while and had jeb pick up the peices to finally implement the things promised forever ago. Notch didn't. Jeb did. We are talking about notch.
You know that huge TEXTURE PACKS button on the main menu? Yeah? Use it. I personally find the vanilla textures to be pretty.
we're talking about a developer and the way he made his game. yes you can change the textures to something more to your liking, but we're not talking about that; we're talking about how a guy called notch made a game i can mod any game in the world, it doesn't mean i'm not allowed to complain that the vanilla game has something in it i don't like
A lot of unfulfilled promises with minecraft. (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Upcoming_features scroll down to planned features, items and blocks. Wanting to charge a monthly fee for a game that should have none.
None of those are promises. They're just things that they've mentioned (About the lantern thing, there was a huge backlash in the community when that was announced so that might be a reason why it hasn't been implemented). And I don't see how he's changed at all since he got rich, he seems nice as ever. The monthly fee would be because the game is going to need constant maintenance.
I am deathly fucking serious.
If a man does us wrong, even if he has done mostly right, we will still turn on him.
I am deathly fucking serious. He pretty much stopped developing on minecraft for a while and had jeb pick up the peices to finally implement the things promised forever ago. Notch didn't. Jeb did.
So starting a company and hiring employees is wrong now? ok
I really really wish bad reading was back.
The floor texture is reused from minecraft too.
are you like a major shareholder in mojang or some shit
yeah if he was losing money i'd understand why he's so pissed off. because otherwise basically he's pissed off at someone for not directly working on a game and being "sort of" a douche. if that's your standard for a douche then everyone's a douche and the word is meaningless.
I really really wish bad reading was back.
He passed it to jeb because he thought he would do a better job. Is that a bad thing?
He passed it to jeb because he thought he would do a better job. Is that a bad thing?
He passed it to jeb because he didn't feel like working and wanted a perm vacation. It should have been obvious from the excessive vacations beforehand and almost complete stop of development for minecraft. Not saying jeb working on it is a bad thing, I am saying that what caused notch to give it to him is pretty funny.
0x10^c is hexadecimal for 16^12 which is is 281 474 976 710 656, which is the year the game takes place, or something.
Guys, he was putting together the new office at the same time, as well as juggling his shitty personal life, I think his wife left him. He's seriously got alot on his hands, and so far this looks okay, like System Shock only uglier and with dynamic lighting.

System shock 2 was released in 1999. [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline]
legolover122 vacation police
Oh yeah me just noting on how notch took vacations inbetween vacations indicated that he didn't feel like working make me the vacation police. Really now? And I do play minecraft. I have gotten tons of hours in it, and I never said it wasn't work the 15 bucks I paid for it.
0x10^c is hexadecimal for 16^12 which is is 281 474 976 710 656, which is the year the game takes place, or something.
I've known you for so long, that I'm not even surprised you know that

If this shit sticks with the monthly fee im gonna laugh my ass off. This is obviously early shit, but it being Notch I bet this is what the graphics are in the end and the actual gameplay sounds pretty retarded and I guarantee that 90% of the shit promised wont ever see the light of day, just how most of the shit that was promised to be in Minecraft never happened.
He passed it to jeb because he didn't feel like working and wanted a perm vacation. Not saying jeb working on it is a bad thing, I am saying that what caused notch to give it to him is pretty funny.
Again what does it matter if notch is the one developing or Jeb. If Notch actually did just want to bail and get perma vacation, why does it matter. Jeb is doing a better job as Notch wasn't cut out for mid-late development on the game and I'm pretty sure he admitted that he wasn't doing a good job and wanted Jeb to take over. Also the reason updates slowed down is that the modding community exploded, Each update breaks the mods. They said they wanted to keep updates larger and better spaced out so they weren't breaking the communities mods. I do think it was a terrible idea to go "retail" version so early. The game is still rather shallow in scope. Being sandbox only goes so far.
