k then what's the problem? you spent 15 dollars on a game that you got incredible amounts of value from, the game is continually developed on still, there's a huge mod community that is only growing due to the nurturing from the dev team. you're pissed off at him because he showed a video? get real dude, if you wanna go bother someone, go bother Data from Cortex Command. he thinks people who bought his game were doing it for charity and that he has no obligation to even finish the game. notch is just some swedish dude who doesn't know how to handle money or game development.
:suicide: I am talking about notch and only notch. Not the video in the op, not minecraft, I am talking about the human being that goes under the nickname "notch" and his behaviors.
I've known you for so long, that I'm not even surprised you know that
Oh you know, I lurk around here and there
:suicide: I am talking about notch and only notch.
Guys, he was putting together the new office at the same time.
jesus cut this guy a break look at the hard work that's goin in here!!
well to be fair that is a picture it resembles at most 1/80 of a second
And it's not like Notch is the only one rolling in money, it's Mojang's office.
well to be fair that is a picture it resembles at most 1/80 of a second
i'm sure in the second 80th of a second the office space changed to a functional office with work pcs and no wasted money on mahogany shit
i'm sure in the second 80th of a second the office space changed to a functional office with work pcs and no wasted money on mahogany shit
no you were talking about notch, not the office obviously the office wouldn't change, that's dumb i'm pretty sure that's the rec room, every single videogame company has one.
well it was posed under "office" so blame sensationalist media or whatever but i still doubt dice/valve/epic/etc's "rec rooms" cost literal millions and are made exclusively of cow and redwood tree
well it was posed under "office" so blame sensationalist media or whatever but i still doubt dice/valve/epic/etc's "rec rooms" cost literal millions and are made exclusively of cow and redwood tree
i know Bioware's rec room had like a cinema in it
It's kinda odd how so few so got done in so much time, what was he up to for all these months
that wasn't my question my question was "why is this of any significance to you in any way"? that is a lead up to the question of "why is everyone pissed at notch for showing a 95 second clip". i'm not apathetic, i'm just very curious at to why you're beefing
Because Facepunch hates Notch now for some reason, and never misses a chance to bash anything it hates. Do the math.
thanks for the insight there
Hold up, a staged photo is definitely a good representation of how the officework goes at Mojang.
mate look at the picture [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline] look at it
mate look at the picture [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline] look at it
All i'm seeing is the Mojang staff posing for a photo. What exactly is your point?
Maybe it's because I stopped following Minecraft a while ago, but I didn't hear about his divorce until I saw this YouTube comment
Can everyone just stop with the negativity? Yes, the graphics are bad. Those are called developer graphics. They take the place of the real graphics during engine tests like these. The reason little progress has been made is because he halted development in June* to resume on it after PAX and he has broken up with his wife. No one is forcing you to buy this game or even watch these videos. Sad that people just sit around all day criticizing others with no background information on the situation.

I think we're all too quick to judge other people's apparent lack of hard work even when we're close to that person, let alone when it's some man who we only hear about when he actively publishes things online. I'd also like to note that programming is hard work. You can work for months on something and people keeping track of your work will not notice much of a difference at all. A lot of programming is less about improving the actual end-user product and more about figuring out how to make your code easier to work with in the future. I had to start programming a game myself to realise how true that really is. [editline]4th October 2012[/editline]
:suicide: I am talking about notch and only notch. Not the video in the op, not minecraft, I am talking about the human being that goes under the nickname "notch" and his behaviors.
'lol I am getting divorced better make sure I work extra hard so that my fans don't get grumpy at me' is, I'm sure, the last thing that was on his mind
dynamic lights and unclimbable stairs amazing!!!
Does anybody have a link to the previous video Notch posted about the game? Because from where I'm standing, this is a pretty great technological achievement, especially if he's coded this from scratch. You may say 'har har I have seen dynamic lights already in video games come up with something new Notch' but I don't think you understand the amount of work required to program a normal lighting system, much less one that can ray-trace and recalculate shadows in realtime. The video shows; incline-dependant collisions dynamic lights an isolated impulse system within the ship and what appears to be a ship-wide impulse system that reacts to the ship being 'hit' by something (i.e., bullets hitting the walls), as shown by the swinging of the light. I don't blame you for not understanding the amount of work that goes into this; programmers are generally the least appreciated members of any team, but please try to understand.
I've never played Minecraft and this looks to me like a Minecraft mod.
chromehounds guild wars 2 (i'm counting it because its not a mmo subscription model)
Chromehounds represent.
I've never played Minecraft and this looks to me like a Minecraft mod.
This is made very apparent by the rest of your post, almost so that it's redundant to even put this disclaimer in the first place.
This is made very apparent by the rest of your post, almost so that it's redundant to even put this disclaimer in the first place.
Sure, I've never played it. I've seen bits here and there, watched friends play. And maybe if I played the game and payed attention to it I'd have a different view on it, but I'm just voicing my opinion under the circumstances.
I've never played Minecraft and this looks to me like a Minecraft mod.
At first glance maybe but the lighting is completely different, it isn't block based and there is a dangling light source with some kind of basic rope physics or something.
