But it only zoomed in multiplayer, didn't it?
regardless I'm sure that it won't matter gameplay-wise if you use them or not he's killing dudes just fine without them
That looks shit hot. Being honest the ironsights don't bother me that much. It's not made to be a complete like for like remake of the first anyway.
I don't really care about ironsights either on weapons like rifles, or pistols (as long as it doesn't show it right up against your face like you're retarded), but ironsights on the revolver? eeeeeeeehhhhhhhhh Also again, holy shit that voice acting...
it's just an extra animation added to the revolver's zoom "holy shit end of the world it's a call of duty clooone"
The youtube comments are still absolutely freaking out over the ironsights, crying over cockadoody and all that bullshit I had no idea Call of Duty invented ironsights guise
Sheeeit, that song gave me that same amazing feel the original soundtrack gives you when you play for the first time. It feels so familiar  My faith has been restored (can't wait to play it on my deathbed)
It reminded me of nightmare house 2. That mod had great music that went well with the gameplay.
just about everything about that mod was great IMO
Well... I wouldn't go that far. Still, i'll like it better when we find a way to disable them.
How to disable ironsights: 1. Don't press the ironsight button, or unbind it. Problem solved! Seriously, I don't see why everyone is bitching and complaining about this. Don't like it, don't use it. That one small feature should not warrant all this. On topic, the mod is looking great, and I don't see any missing assets like most of the previous videos. Pretty awesome!
can't wait
EEEhhhh, not really liking the soundtrack, I think I'm going to replace it with the old half life soundtrack once it comes out.
I'd say it looks great - sure the voice acting (or rather the writing) sucked, but the overall aesthetic is great.
This is exactly how I imagine it'd look if valve redid HL1.
My body is ready, bring on BMS.
The voice acting really isnt bad. This is a free mod with shitloads of dialog, im not surprised they dont have the best voice acting in the entire world. No one is paying these guys.
No it's pretty bad. It's not the quality of the sound or anything, just the presentation. It doesn't sound like battle chatter or anything like that and it sounds really slow and dramatic for no reason.

I've been wondering about this for a while, shouldn't there be some legal disputes or something? They're essentially copying a game. Is Valve just cool with it?
New soundtrack is pretty cool, but imo they should keep some of the iconic tracks, or better yet, remaster them. You know, Hazardous Environments, Diabolic Adrenaline Guitar and Electric Guitar Ambience. Hell, Hazardous Environments could be considered the de-facto theme of the series.
You have to own a source game I think, that's why they're okay with it.
If I recall correctly they have said it will be standalone.
If I recall correctly they have said it will be standalone.
It's standalone in the sense that it doesn't use need any content from the Valve games. You still need a Source engine game to play it.
They don't need to do that when you can do it yourself. Figure out which track plays, and where, then find the file. Take the HL 1 track and rename it to the name of the Blackmesa track and voila, you have HL1 tracks playing.
Yeah, but I'm just saying it'd be cool if they made remastered versions of those tracks.
...Ironsights? Since when did Black Mesa decide to use ironsights?
From the video, it seems they only used the ironsight zoom on the magnum. Didn't the original one in Hl have a zoommode of some sort? Could be a replacement of that.
That's interesting... I wonder if Valve knows about that.
Considering that's how all source mods work, yes.
What I dont get is why Valve told them they couldnt copy HL1 exactly as they were. Its a free mod so why did Valve tell them that?
What I dont get is why Valve told them they couldnt copy HL1 exactly as they were. Its a free mod so why did Valve tell them that?
Well if they copied HL1 exactly as it was, they'd have Half-Life: Source.
Do I see some chromatic aberration? I had no idea source could even do that.
Well if they copied HL1 exactly as it was, they'd have Half-Life: Source.
Ya but Valve told them they couldnt copy HL1 maps in their entirety, but its a free mod. I dont understand that.
Ya but Valve told them they couldnt copy HL1 maps in their entirety, but its a free mod. I dont understand that.
Valve probably thinks that it's not only a cool thing for the community to remake one of their games from the ground up on their own engine, but that it's both free publicity for the Source engine and, on a more crackpot theory basis, that it can free up ever having to do something like fully remake HL1 from the ground-up from their hands so they can focus on other projects. I mean, not that Valve would remake it, but you never know. v:v:v

I'm not saying the voice acting is really that terrible, but the argument of "nobody is paying them" is complete horseradish, just because they won't make money doesn't mean they shouldn't put in effort. The idea is that they want to make something that is good and enjoyable for both themselves and the player. Making it lean to far one way or the other fucks it up. The devs wont have fun if they are trying to hard to appeal to the fanbase but the players won't get the game they would like to get if the devs focus solely on their ideas and exclude constructive criticism. Not that I have an issue with the mod as of current, but this argument is just silly. They should still try to improve and take constructive criticism regardless of whether or not they are payed.
