the movie is about the origin of the [sp]"mutants who want to side with the humans vs mutants who believe they're superior" conflict. in the movie, she kinda marks the start of it almost as much as magneto since she's the very first one to switch sides (plus her character arc is that she's basically the personification of 'mutants hiding their true nature')[/sp]
Eck, Sophie Turner's American accent.
Jesus, seeing very recently the last Hunger Games makes me worried for this movie. JLaw scenes looked like cut out of those movies. Why isn't she blue? I thought Mystique accepted her true look so why is she human among mutants/friends?
Still on the fence about apocalypse but everything else apart from Lawrence looks good.
Why is gene grey older in a prequel?

Yeah, really. How can you blame an actress for being popular? They probably just want to shoehorn her into the spotlight cause she's so famous now.
someone needs to GIF that ridiculously bad shot of jar jar binks Quicksilver running toward the camera
holy shit
Yeah, the CG looks way too early for a trailer cut.
Why does Apocalypse look so dumb. Isn't he supposed to be a fucking monstrous badass god? Kinda like Thanos? He looks generic.
And Thanos doesn't?
"Im purple with skrull wrinkles, fear me"
Your opinions are like the Troll's Bible
there are lots of generic evil purple men in comic books
DOFP was cool, but it came out in the same year as Winter Soldier, a movie that pretty much blew the roof on what superhero movies could do.

Am I the only one that thought winter soldier wasn't that good. It was better than the first one and Thor but those movies were complete and utter shit.
You want a super hero movie that reached the full potential and was elevated beyond "capeshit" look at dark knight.
My reaction to your statement is covered by your avatar.

Look.
I like the Nolan movies as much as the next guy.
But The Dark Knight barely counts as a superhero movie.
Its a crime drama with a watered down brute of a Batman thrown into the mix.

And I think we all agree that if it wasn't for Ledger's Joker it'd be mildly enjoyable at best.

I think i should just come out and say it, keep in mind that i find them to be really good movies, but the Batman portrayed in them was kind of fucking shit at his job, too.
Also he had his "one rule" but at the same time blew up a monastery at the top of a mountain in the himalayas full of people.
Why is gene grey older in a prequel?
What are you talking about? Sophie Turner is only 19 years old.
Can anyone explain to me why is there the new Charles Xavier instead of Patrick Stewart? And other characters seem newish?
Didn't Wolverine (DAYS OF TUTURE PAST ENDING) [sp]come back to whatever 20xx they were in after "making things right" for mutants?[/sp]

This is what happens that leads up to that present. The current timeline is
First Class>DOFP>Apocalypse>>>>>>>>>DOFP "fixed" future
Throw Deadpool in there somewhere as well and maybe X-Men 1 and 2, depending on if we see more of that furure
Why'd they cast Sophie Turner? She's such a stale actress! Her scenes in GoT are just the worst.
Why'd they cast Sophie Turner? She's such a stale actress! Her scenes in GoT are just the worst.
Her accent is bloody awful here, but she's perfect as Sansa imo, she's not stale at all. She's also does facial expressions brilliantly on the show, some of the best even.
I guess we all have different opinions. I think her and John West are the two worst actors (not even mentioning that wildling actress who Sam wants to poke). Whenever they have scenes in the show, it's just really boring for me to watch.
I miss Tywin Lannister, he was such a good actor.

You might be disliking the character it's self, Sansa is meant to come across as wooden and reserved without displaying many emotions like in the books, she's very internal until this upcoming season. Most of her emotions have to come from her silent expressions, which Sophie nails.
I really hope psylocke has as little screen time as possible, I have a massive hate boner for Olivia Munn

That's what makes it so good.

And regardless of your opinion on TDK that doesn't make winter soldier any better.

Oh, so you just dont like superhero movies?
So you're saying that superhero movies, in order to be good, cant be superhero movies.
What a shitty outlook on an entire genre.

Literally where did I say I don't like super hero movies?
What makes a super hero movie and what makes TDK not one? Just because it has the mob in it? Because it has drama? Because it doesn't have a forgettable army of mindless goons for batman to eat up and a big laser thing that comes out of / goes into the sky?
TDK is good because it has good character drama. Which most of these movies are missing. And partly because its Batman vs the mob + joker, not Batman vs faceless purple aliens.
I like super hero movies. I just think Winter Soldier was an okay movie and over praised and most super hero movies are just "eh" and the genre is getting ultra saturated with forgettable movies. Except Thor and the first Captain America which are horrible.

TDK isnt a superhero movie.
It strips away the mysticism of Batman, all of the larger than life aspects of the character. it turns him into a near mindless brute who relies on only his fists than the actual comic book Batman who is billed as The Worlds Greatest Detective, yet at the same time being incredibly weak and frail. Everything feels way too small. Its cops and robbers with some green and purple and a few pointy bits mixed into it.
Also, in The Dark Knight, they pretty much removed every aspect of the theatricality or grandiosity from him. He's not a mythic figure. He doesnt have a Batcave. He doesnt live at Wayne Manor. His gadgets are few and far between. His car is a tank. He's a guy in a swat outfit with silly ears.
I would say Batman Begins is a superhero movie, but The Dark Knight isnt.
[editline]12th December 2015[/editline]
Also, there are plenty of great Superhero movies with drama and that lack a "forgettable army of mindless goons for ____ to eat up and a big laser thing that comes out of / goes into the sky"
The Raimi Spider-Man films come to mind. But it has camp. It knows its a superhero movie and its fine with that. They dont try to tone down Spider-Man, make him a guy who can only barely climb on walls and who can kind of shoot webs, and made his costume out of a red hoodie and some jeans, who has to face off against a guy in a purple hoodie with body modifications and uses army surplus weapons to terrorize NYC.
Batman beats the shit out of people in the comic too. I feel like he hasn't been billed as detective since the 50s when he really wasn't allowed to beat the shit out of people for censorship reasons. And in TDK he does plenty of detective work and has a lot gadgets that you're overlooking for the sake of your own argument. In TDK he figures all the shit out that the police can't.
Wayne Manor burned down in BB. He has a high tech backup batcave (since wayne manor blew up). He car has always been a tank (bullet proof + guns), it just looked a bit more like one this time.
Good to know you're requirements for batman are:
- Batcave being a literal cave with bats in it
- Mansion
- Cheese mobile
- Billions of gadgets that are over the top. Probably have to have bat as a prefix.
- Being mythical to the audience rather than to the residents of the movie (which he is in TDK and into TDKR). I'd argue batman has never been mythical to the audience, we've always known he's Bruce Wayne running around in his underwear.
Ignoring Captain America's one gadget (his shield) explain how he's more of a super hero than batman is in TDK.
Maybe you just don't want to view it as a super hero movie because it sets the bar too high?
[editline]12th December 2015[/editline]
Also for the record I agree that the first two Raimis are great. But that's because they knew what they were and didn't take themselves seriously.

Factually wrong. Theres been quite a few comics in recent years focused solely on his detective capabilities.
In fact, Ra's Al Ghul? He exclusively calls him "Dark Knight Detective" or "Detective" in the comics.
And in TDK he does plenty of detective work and has a lot gadgets that you're overlooking for the sake of your own argument. In TDK he figures all the shit out that the police can't.
Only in about two scenes, and its not touched really again.
Wayne Manor burned down in BB. He has a high tech backup batcave (since wayne manor blew up).
At the end of the first movie, where they said "we'll rebuild it". The "high tech backup batcave" is a white room with his suit and car in it.
He car has always been a tank (bullet proof + guns), it just looked a bit more like one this time.
No, his car has consistently been a supercar or dragster since around the 60's, give or take armor and gadgets. Being bulletproof with guns doesnt make something a tank.

You just described half of what makes Batman Batman, so good job.

No. He's very clearly not. Theres literally anti-Batman gang meetings and a guy who goes "we're getting wise to you, you dont kill people."
Ignoring Captain America's one gadget (his shield) explain how he's more of a super hero than batman is in TDK.
Well, his super strength, super speed, super stamina, super durability, and superior understanding of geometric spaces in order to accurately ricochet a discus come to mind.
Maybe you just don't want to view it as a super hero movie because it sets the bar too high?
lol.
No, i dont see it as a superhero movie because its a crime drama with some comic book elements thrown in.
[editline]12th December 2015[/editline]
Compare Batman Begins to The Dark Knight and you can see the difference between Nolan Batman as a Superhero movie and Nolan Batman as a crime drama.
