You know, that spider is actually lying in wait for potential prey to come buy so he can bust from the sand and pierce them with his fangs. After which he would inject venom into the poor sod, at which point said venom would begin to liquify the insides like some sort of animal sludge, which the spider would then suck out as child with a sillystraw would to a slurpee. Just something to think about.
I'm not particularly scared of spiders, but I've seen in some documentaries which explored the reason for phobias that say one of the reasons spiders scare us is that they subconsciously resemble a severed human hand moving. It's probably bullshit though, the more likely reason is that because they're poisonous our ancestors which tended to stay away from the buggers due to a general instinctual dislike probably lived longer, to the point that they could fuck and have kids who were also scared shitless of spiders.
I could honestly go close to a tarantula, it's fat and fluffy like a dog. But I hate these thin things.

I had a tarantula have kids while I was on vacation and the kids ended up devouring the mother who I thought was a male. Brought the tank out side and tipped it over towards the woods and left it there for about 2 days. Fuck reaching into a tank with a bunch of maturing bird eaters.

What determines how scary a spider is for me is if it's slender and skinny or not. Thin, small bodied spiders with long skinny legs are a huge nope, while spiders like tarantulas and jumping spiders I don't mind at all.
Also if they have venom or not. I'm afraid of venomous things, period. No exceptions.

I'm fine with big spiders (well, as long as they're not gonna bite me :v:) because you can see where everything is.
I don't like those really spindly hard to see ones though, they make me feel like they're hiding everywhere ready to tickle me with their little spindly legs :tinfoil:
