He took the words out of my mouth when he said "guys, there's ACTUAL hatred out there you could be reporting on" because holy shit, there's so much that it feels like we're drowning in it. They picked on PDP simply because he's popular.
And he gets the all important clicks.
I made the mistake of looking in the neogaf thread discussing the video. There are people literally comparing him to fucking Trump for blaming "fake news". Also, you gotta love the people who just looks at the picture of him giving the middle finger and say "thats all i needed to see". Great work taking things out of context AGAIN. This shit is infuriating but in the end it wont even matter. Its not like the people who dont like him watched him in the first place.

Reminds me of the US elections. Where they released article after article about Trump. Yet people still voted and he won the electoral vote.
Jokes should have career damaging, or possibly ending, consequences. Okay dude.
Incorrect assumption. I don't believe that should happen, but with how he's being targeted, it should be expected on his end. I'm not saying his career should end at all, I'm saying he should be careful if the WSJ is literally out to end his career over anything. Also, just to clarify, when it comes to the long history of comedians of every kind and backlash against certain jokes, it happens, whether they want it to or not. So get your head out of your ass.
I don't know what kind of silence is golden dictatorship big brother ass kind of society you want to live in, but you're alone in that dog.
Don't hurt yourself reaching for a reason to think I actually want or believe in this.
The only reason why sites like WSJ turn off their moral compass and tuck away their sense of humor is because it sells, and in no small part thanks to people like you that support it, even if it is with one foot in the door.
That's pretty obvious, this happens in the media all the time. Also, I have never in my life advocated for censorship or attacks like this, nor do I support defamation of character to any degree, even in the case of PDP. All I'm saying is that if WSJ is targeting him in this manner, he needs to be careful with what content he displays on his show. In the case of them accusing him of being a Nazi over a screen grab of him raising his arm, that is an obvious reason to be careful. I guess I'll have to put a disclaimer on every single post I make in SH from now on, or else I'll be considered a Big Brother shill by people like you. I'll clear the air a little further: I think there are actual issues to report on, that impact very real people's very real lives. There should be a crack down on slander and defamation like this.

It's unfortunate, but the damage is done and nothing short of going back in time and preventing the whole thing from ever happening will fix this. Which is to say, it's impossible to come back from this fully. Once people like this hear something that makes them angry, they will do anything to hold onto it.

The exact shit the media does.

I don't follow PewDiePie at all and am completely out the loop with this recent kerfuffle but anyone who points out the dramatic and relatively recent decline of WSJ gets my thumbs up.
This is the shit that is playing to the alt-right. It actually Does matter!
Fair enough. People on both sides of the spectrum will use this incident to justify their own beliefs. I was more refering to how people who watch pewdiepie will keep watching and people who dont watch him will keep on watching something else.

This is even real?!?
I wonder if the secret nazi salute will be featured soon on WSJ.
The last couple of years have really made me distrust the media in general. I feel like I can't believe anything I see from any of the legacy media sources.
Reuters and NPR are just about the very only things I trust.
The reason he got flak for the rape jokes is because they were repetitive and genuinely not funny. These "antisemitic" jokes have context to them, and it's also the context that makes them not only funny, but also non-antisemitic. Also, another thing I haven't seen anyone address yet - the media constantly points out how PewDiePie paid two fiverr accounts for two antisemitic jokes on different occasions. That's factually wrong. PewDiePie merely found Jesus' 'Hitler did nothing wrong' video on his fiverr profile. I would say you can see that in the video, but PewDiePie had to take it down so you can't.
I don't think the issue with the rape jokes was that they were repetitive. The repetitive and hysterical delivery probably didnt help but there is no way that people didn't take issue with the whole *sexual assault* part of it.

He references it super briefly in the video but for whatever reason, Reddits former alt right subreddit and /pol/ have adopted pewdiepie as a "repilling gen z hero" lol
"girls need to dress more conservatively if they don't want to be raped, displaying their titties and whatnot out all over the place"
This is a false equivalence if I've ever seen one. NO, I am not victim blaming here, PDP can be criticized at any time for the content he has on his show(s). Whether or not the criticism is valid depends on what exactly is being criticized, and who is doing the criticism. We could easily write off certain aspects of his content as nothing more than jokes of varying degrees, and ultimately nothing to really worry about since we have full knowledge of the context of that content. However, WSJ, looking for something to have a problem with, criticized something that wasn't actually there: anti-semitism coming directly from PDP. We all know he isn't an anti-semite and he didn't spread or support any anti-semitic messages on his videos. He simply displayed it and his reaction to it, which you and I both know is not him personally supporting those messages. Stop reaching so much. Also, again, all I'm saying is PDP should be careful if he's being targeted, specifically by people that will use any of his own content against. I do not support attacks on him, from WSJ or anyone else, and I definitely think it's abhorrent that they would go to such lengths to do this to him. If anyone really really wants me to explain what I mean, all they have to do is ask.
"girls need to dress more conservatively if they don't want to be raped, displaying their titties and whatnot out all over the place"
Are you a writer for the wallstreet journal because you would fucking fit in perfectly I can't believe someone could misconstrue a point so awfully
They are talking about colossal influence Youtube has and redpilling people at an early age, in addition to MSM stuff.
that's hilarious forcing political opinions on kids is bad unless its our opinions apparently

It's a good thing that journalist today are taking the lessons from Stephen Glass's mistakes of bending the truth that they teach to everyone in a Intro Journalism class and just throw it out the fucking window.
I find this media situation incredibly similar to that fracas between Jeremy Clarkson and the Top Gear producer for BBC. Not to forget all the other times before where tasteless jokes were made. Those jokes are still funny, they need to be taken as jokes or bad jokes and then everyone moves on. Fairly sure if enough people complained to Wall Street Journal they would go away or even reconsider their fake news and offer an apology, but in this greedy money driven world perhaps this could however have been an ulterior motive to get people to pay for the Wall Street Journal via viral marketing by blowing up this fake news about Pewdiepie.
Damn it, and I thought he'd create 4th Reich Entertainment
He references it super briefly in the video but for whatever reason, Reddits former alt right subreddit and /pol/ have adopted pewdiepie as a "repilling gen z hero" lol
its for an obvious reason, media keeps calling everyone nazis thesedays, when people get used to seeing everyone be accused of being a nazi and it always being a crock of shit by dishonest hacks it also delegitimizes claims that /pol/, r/the-donald etc are nazis (and they aren't, genius). I've been saying this since during the election but nonspecifically accusing the 'other side' of being bigots, deployables, racists, nazis only helps them, because generalizations always have counterexamples and makes the accuser look truly wrong, dishonest and manipulative.
Has anyone captured this yet and posted here? How to not love PewDiePie? [thumb]https://sr.ht/U_lX.png[/thumb]

The mad men, Dailystormer put this on their website page. Dailystormer is an "Alt-Right, Neo Nazi" news site. (In quotations cause I don't know if it's accurate.) [t]http://i.imgur.com/uiGaB0z.jpg[/t]

[editline]16th February 2017[/editline] i think I found it https://www.wsj.com/articles/disney-severs-ties-with-youtube-star-pewdiepie-after-anti-semitic-posts-1487034533 But you need to sing in/subscribe. i've seen a few other articles that don't require this quick buck, maybe?
