PewDiePie's response to claims from Wall Street Journal, etc

You know if you told me 5 years ago that one day I'd be standing with PewDiePie I'd laugh right in your face.
100% support for you, Felix. May the WSJ burn
Okay, I have to be honest: when people started to write things like "fuck WSJ" and so on, I thought they are saying "fuck SJW" but want to avoid being accused of using a buzzword
Here's the Journal's very insightful report on the response

People talked a lot about being sceptical of "alternative" media after Trump was elected but it's been clear for a while (say since mainstream media began reporting Gamergate) that people need to bump their scepticism for mainstream media up a few notches as well.

Why do we have to put them in camps of being good or bad. A whole lot of both is absolute garbage

they're both shit. alternative media makes shit up constantly, mainstream takes shit out of context. but mainstream also reports normal news, while alternative media constantly lies.
Why is the media doing this?
Moniesss.
Creating news articles is a competitive business and true news don't sell well. Like in reality tv shows it has to be as dramatic and scandalous as possible to make the most profit out of it.

Even if you want to have integrity, funding is just damn difficult so there's that strong temptation.
It's a cutthroat, deeply saturated news industry these days, it's hardly surprising that sensationalist headlines have become the norm. It has always been this way and it's only going to get worse with the internet and mass media consumption.

"took anti-Semitic content out of context"
*grabs a gun and kills himself*
Did they mention the part where Felix says "Fuck WSJ, try again motherfuckers"? EDIT: yes they did, lol

It's kinda disgusting how many people are trying to back up this libelous garbage. Like, there are people deciding that because they have a stick up their ass, nothing Felix did could possibly constitute a joke, there are people using the articles to justify their irrational hatred of youtube/new media/millennials, and there are others claiming that context doesn't matter, which would make basically every comedian in recorded history evil.
And the update article is written by the same three fucking hacks who wrote the obvious hit piece. That's some objectivity.
It's a good thing that journalist today are taking the lessons from Stephen Glass's mistakes of bending the truth that they teach to everyone in a Intro Journalism class and just throw it out the fucking window.
Funny you'd mention that. We spent a good quarter of a year during my journo/media classes on just one branch of ethics in journalism, and Stephen Glass was a huge part in it. So much for that, I guess.
The last couple of years have really made me distrust the media in general. I feel like I can't believe anything I see from any of the legacy media sources.
Yet, FP believes every title on Trump or any sensational news title before even reading the article or watching a press conference.
Sucks what is happening to PewDiePie but this helps for the mass awakening that the media is a crock of shit propaganda machine for discrediting the truth.

Or perhaps a simpler explanation is just that Trump is doing stupid shit on the daily on top of the outright malicious acts he's committing behind the veil of distraction and deflection. I've watched all of his press conferences at length and go to great effort to check the validity of my sources.
Sadly, as bizarre as it seems most the crazy things the media criticizes Trump for did actually come out of his mouth

Let's not compare PewDiePie who recognized the bad in what he did, apologized for it, defended himself and thanked the support in a civil manner to Donald Trump who throws press conferences to whine about the media for not portraying the most unpopular President in the US ever and pathological liar positively.

Trying to pretend like these are separate issues is what enables the problem though.
I will once again write this disclaimer I now regularly employ, "I do not support, advocate for, or in any way think Donald Trump is a good President."
However.
Media Agencies right now live on shock and outrage. They run stories like, this and like this.
Stories like this are run with the same credibility and value as stories about this or this.
That is, real news, news about things that will actually change the world, news about espionage and possible treason, is instantly conflated with, "PewDiePie is a Nazi" and "Trump's staff can't turn on the fucking lights."
It's no wonder people call mainstream media, 'the lying press.' It becomes very hard now to draw any judgement but that.
"Well those serious articles are true, the silly articles are just," you begin to say before I say, "shut up." If you willfully run those types of stories together, if you willfully read one side of the page as true and ignore the other, then you have no right to claim some factual superiority or moral integrity. Particularly when the serious articles are based on unidentified sources or leaks that can't be identified for "reasons*."
It creates an atmosphere where people cannot trust the news, because the news is not providing consistently trustworthy material. I can't recall who said it or how exactly, but there's a quote that goes along the lines of,
We have a mental blindness when we read the newspaper. We read something just long enough to decide it's not true, that it's ridiculous and it's a lie. Then we turn the page, and treat the next story as if it were completely true, until we decide it isn't.
Now we live in an age where it's happening so often, so regularly, we're even eroding that mental blindness, and treating the news like an unreliable friend, like someone with a clear and present bias. Because they are.
All you end up doing, if you say, "well this article is trustworthy, this article has no clear or evident bias," after immediately judging the last article to be-so, is giving in to your own bias no matter what side you are on. Plenty of people here would not turn on Fox News, give it a fair shake and walk away going, "oh well, okay, quite a few of their pieces were very true." Instead, those people would turn on Fox News, recoil in horror, then turn on CNN and say, "well at least I can trust these guys."
*I am well aware that the reason those leaks remain unidentified are for a wide range of credible reasons. However, to assert that those same leaks couldn't possibly be biased, or in any way at all unethical, is ridiculous. It is just as unconstitutional and flatly wrong for an intelligence agency (just for example) to illegally wire-tap somebody and leak the obtained information to a journalist as it is for the same agency to illegally wire-tap somebody and present that information in court.
What kind of problem do you guys have, why do you have to bring up Trump in every news article or something like that? Can't we just forget Trump for a moment?
Since joking about or at the expense of nazism makes you a nazi, I've compiled a handy list of some prominent card-carrying members of the National Socialist German Workers Party. Stay safe, and avoid:

They have. They just fear him too much. The savage by edoobz would send them into bankruptcy faster than saying Gay Retard.
I think it might be appropriate to point out that Wall Street Journal's parent company was bought out by NewsCorp in 2007 and they're now part of Rupert Murdoch's news empire. This could have something to do with their decline in quality.
I do a double take on half the posts in this thread because of my username
wait what does this mean?
it means that wall street journal went to his house in person, kept knocking at his door and started asking him to go defend himself on their website that slandered him
pewdiepie never opened the door for them.

This tweet makes me laugh.
I interpreted it as "Pewdiepie says there is context to his video that we didn't point out in our first article"
And more people are going to view it to see the conclusion to this story so more drive to their website. Easy traffic/money I guess
Obviously all of the slander and manipulation is horrible, he shouldn't be getting treated this way, especially the claims that he's a nazi based on nothing at all. But if he knows he's being targeted, why doesn't he at least try to tone down some of his content?
I dunno, why hasn't South Park or Tosh.0 or the Boondocks or any other adult show with offensive content been canceled?
If you don't like to watch it, you're not the target audience. Why should he tone down his content for those who don't even watch it?

People are fucking retarded. You've got one side who actually looks at facts and the other who who think they're looking at the facts because they decide not to dig any further than face value.
