They really tried to put all the everyday comforts into cans didn't they? I'm impressed that they put in the effort. Would of thought they would of stuck with the stuff that's less prone to going bad. However then again these videos are like 60+ years after when they were manufactured
A big part of MRE's is acceptability so they try to include a diverse menu of food to please everyone
He didn't need to worry about botulism from the can of jam - botulinum is an obligate anaerobe, since the can was cracked open any botulinum would have died decades ago. The peanut butter, though... possible. Unlikely but possible - I imagine the army did good QC, and it's not hard to do canning right.
Hey I know what that means! Thanks bio.
if you like MRE videos... I'd suggest you should check out gundog4314, gschultz9 and kiwidude mre. They've got modern, old (mainly gundog) mre and even civilian MRE videos. Be prepared though, these videos will make you hungry. I just think eating rations from 65 years ago is a bit risky. Especially if the contents have gone off / growing mould or bacteria.
Isnt this like vandalizing museum tier history or something
If it's not in a museum are you not allowed to do whatever you want with it?
He did one from 1951 as well.
How about a 1945 one?
So I told Steve to eat a 80 year old ration and he actually did it absolute mad man
This guy is going to make himself really sick one day.

theres something rather satisfying about the can opening mechanism these have
"I can't eat this thing" "There's no way I'm gonna eat this thing" "I'm gonna eat this thing" It's like he's possessed or something, and like almost every time he regrets it too. Ashens needs to step up his game to this guys level.
People keep giving me weird looks when they see me watching someone eating old food during my lunch break. But I can't stop.
I forgot to go grocery shopping on a sunday last week and resorted to a 2010 beef patty MRE and I was worried as all fuck that it went bad, despite knowing that a five year old MRE is NOTHING to be even remotely worried about. These things are amazing, if stored properly you could use them in a pinch decades after.
If you store them in a cool dry place I am not exaggerating they will last over 50 years. But I've had ones which were just like, a year or two old and were stored in a warm place and they were so, so, so bad.

This guy is too funny. He ate like, what, 8/12 of those crackers and the entire time he was just disgusted. Very amusing to watch, but besides that, it really is interesting to see this kind of stuff. I never really have seen much about rations and stuff until now, very interesting!
How about a 1945 one?
those little packets look so neat. i could totally see them being sold as "retro" looking

Even new ones can be horrendous. [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db19pT9lnZc[/hd] From 3:40 onwards is the true "why did I open this" moment
The recent JSDF rations he's been reviewing look really damn tasty
And old hot dogs are his most recent.
64 year old cookies, Camel cigarettes, and a lanky Dave Grohl
64 year old cookies, Camel cigarettes, and a lanky Dave Grohl
man i dont smoke much aside from ganja and the occasional cigar, but fuck if him dragging that camel didn't make me jealous me and my buddies used to have some like early 90s mres that we'd fuck around with and eat, sometimes there was some good shit like some fruit candies that i honestly got addicted to for a while, id always trade my gum or cookies for them
I don't know why MREs fascinate me so much, I've always wanted to try one but i could never bother to look into getting one Not a goddamn 60 year old one, but yknow
39 year-old ham and eggs, anybody?
