Ah HL2 RP. I almost miss it. Almost. The biggest problems on the couple of servers I played on was that everyone always joined their little niche and stuck with it, never allowing new people anywhere past the front door without basically sucking an admin's cock. Guns were ridiculously hard to get (but the admins never remembered that fact and never refunded them if they kicked you for some joke or some shit because they just spawned themselves new guns every time they came on), and RP was few and far between. A lot of it was just waiting around, and there wasn't a lot of stuff to do if you were a citizen. You were called an idiot or a minge if you wanted to become a rebel (despite the fact that all the admins and old timers were) and of course CP recruitment was hardly ever open. So your only option was to be bored. And stay bored. Really fucking bored. ... I decided to make a crazy stereotypical gypsy on my off time instead. I was sure was gonna get shut down in 2 days but then I started giving tarot readings and the admins were like "meh it's the most interesting thing going on right now, fuck it." What were the points of lockdowns anyway? No good RP has ever come from it for the people involved and it just bored people out of servers.

In practice, it was a bloody waste of time because the cliques were so ingrained, people would barely RP with others and do their best to shuffle off into some hidden little corner. CPs merely get free reign to do taxingly repetitive procedures and shoot people that do anything unusual. It's one thing to try to be authentic, but at some point most of the HL2RP servers I went to dumped canonical accuracy in favor for.. Other approaches. M4A1s with laser sights in the hands of 'starved, underequipped' rebels that look like anime girls. Eight different colored branches of CPs, assassins and soldiers all mucking about. 'Storylines' that utterly threw canon into a blender in favor of admins making their own centered plot around stupid things, to the point that Taco 'n Banana servers felt like the Rebels were trying to be the resistance from Terminator's future if I remember correctly. All things that illogically existed all over the damn place, but if you didn't have the right connections as a player, you just about never got to see any of it.

Admin: hey, I got something for you. 12 Year Old: ooh what? *BANNED LEL*
big post
Not gonna advertise or something but our server hasn't closed applications for more than 5.5 months because many who get a CP character go back to CitizenRP because they like it.
I almost miss it as well, but donations and shit ruined it for me. Give a child some candy and take it from him, he'll start to cry even though he didn't technically lose anything. This is pretty much what happened to me. :v: I donated then LemonPunch where I was playing changed to a freaking subscription based system. It's not an MMORPG, it's a freaking donation.
I miss corrupting the police force.
Needed someone getting shot, then arguing for the next half hour about how their character is too important to die.
Needs LOOC chat about S2M or just plain arguing about what people are doing.
Anyone else remember when C8 was being made? Did they ever actually make the maps? [editline]17th July 2013[/editline] I also loved how rations were almost never done in any of the servers.
I never once played HL2RP, and judging by the comments in this section, I don't regret that.
I have some good memories, once I managed to get CP and I smuggled guns to the rebels, met in an abandoned warehouse, and he gave me extra rations in exchange. So great. Once I managed to sneak out an SMG. And it was all admin-ok'd.
I lost it at the rolling dice part.
This is perfect.
I miss HL2RP, but most of all I miss STALKER RP. Oh man, I'd kill for a STALKER server.

Usually setting up a "scene" with items is better. I could do it more often if you want. Also the video is accurate.

May as well just set up a chatroom if all you're gonna do is text RP.
Yeah I remember, I played for a good while at TnB. Got kinda high in the Combine too. Of course most of the admins were leaders of the rebels, and pulled of shit that'd make Gordon Freeman jealous.
This reminds me: Hey, old TnB people: Who remembers when Rex Lee made an entire Combine Overwatch division go rogue? Even the striders 'n shit.
This reminds me: Hey, old TnB people: Who remembers when Rex Lee made an entire Combine Overwatch division go rogue? Even the striders 'n shit.
Fun times.
If anyone's still interested in TnB, you should know there's been some major reforms on the HL2 server recently. New map, no ridiculous content pack to download (it uses bodygroups now which allows you to customize your character with clothing like beanies) and it seems to be going well so far.
I stopped playing hl2rp because of cliquey groups, and the shoot to miss rule. I remember getting to some places on the map by doing the command to fall over for half a second, repeating till I got to the roof of the one building on rp_c18.
This reminds me: Hey, old TnB people: Who remembers when Rex Lee made an entire Combine Overwatch division go rogue? Even the striders 'n shit.
I remember the pictures of Dave Brown dressed as a disgusting tranny. In fact I still have them.
