I've never been on to dabble, but from what I've seen, the smaller "serious RP communities" weren't anywhere near as bad as the big ones. TnB is a giant cesspool of circlejerking and shit. I saw one or two communities not long ago that weren't full of shit and had literate players and admins.
That surprised me.

I have no problem with this in all honesty, because aquiring money should be something you strive to do in RP, what I did have a problem with was that money was fuckall useless. As a person who amassed a great fortune of credits through working Bar RP for a long ass time (and then had it subsequently bolstered by some dude who just up and gave me like 300,000 credits cuz he was leaving... honestly not sure why I never got banned for accepting that, but it doesn't matter since I couldn't use it for dick anyway) I can say without a doubt that money had 0 use. CPs couldn't be bribed because they had no use for credits, players had no use because there was nothing of interest to buy, and rebels were like "lol no we're admins, we don't need cash".
Everybody says they'd play on an RP server without kid admins, retarded rules, and a dumb RP system but they can't find anything and "GMOD RP is dead". Yet no one ever seems to check out the Games in Progress section.
I had the same idea as everyone else and I really wanted to play a good RP server, so I checked that section out and played on a server called Boonclan, admins were real cool british dudes who were on a lot, the server had it's own big custom map that was well done, the admins made their own content to spice up DarkRP and we had stuff like PAC and such. I never met any of them before and eventually they made me admin because I was funny, RP'd good, and I played a lot.
Yet the server remained mostly dead except for a few player spikes. A perfectly good server with a custom map, great admins, good darkrp, always being hosted, but there simply wasn't enough players to justify keeping the server up. The server was hosted by Ninja101, a FP mod for fucks sake. You'd think that alone would get people on.
Please support good communities guys, there are a lot of good guys in the Games in Progress section.

Yeah but there was no way of making the money. The only way you could make it was by selling stuff but to sell stuff you needed money to buy merchandise so you ended up with pretty much a catch 22 problem.
The only way anyone seemed to get any money was by getting it off the admins.
Oh man this brought some memorys back from my Fallout RP days at Live in Fear. Playing the old town doctor with a midget mayor was fun as hell.

Well the video came from my own experience with the mod. HL2RP is something I find my self doing from time to time, but I haven't really gotten in to TTT, or SSTRP. Possibly in the future tho.

Yep. Server economy was always retarded and no script ever seemed to have a good system for it.
It also hampered RP cause no one would RP buying something that isn't a power gaming script item cause that would be a waste of money to them.

I went afk on a coastal RP server and when I returned a couple had eaten me and was then fucking on my remains.
Pretty sure it was a dude posing as a girl.
And then I snooped on a high ranking CP officer and found out he was taking girls and beating them in the apartment next to mine, I got him busted.
I've seen some shit.
I've never done RP before so I don't understand any of this. The bit with the guys crowding around the female player can fit with any game though.
