fuuuuuck me, i am so STOKED!!!
I'm not sure if I'd like it in a multiplayer game, but a first-person RPG would be amazing.

my favourite mode would likely be the ARMA style mouse in a free aim area that turns the character if I push against the edges, while the head tracking can look independently entirely having the hud fixed to the camera looks neat, but I'd love to experiment with having it fixed to the mouse direction (character forward direction, but not so it follows the crosshair, just the center of the freeaim area)
This + Razer Hydra. Alll ooffff iitttt
I actually hope they implement the 'right eye sniper scope' thing they suggested. It looks weird having a three-dimensional sniping view.
Scary games like Penumbra and Amnesia would be so good with this. Mirrors edge too. Also, does anybody know if when you put it on, all you see is the game? Or is there like a gap between the left eye and right eye?

Sound will have a mayor part when using the Oculus... After returning my Logitech G930 because it kept giving problems i might give a other headset a new shot
Saw the thread on the main page, thought the T in team was going to be Tenga
Sound will have a mayor part when using the Oculus... You can get better sound out of a cheaper set of cans than a gaming specific headset. Just buy a cheap desk mic and you'll be good to go.
looks way too complicated but cool as fuck combine it with this https://www.leapmotion.com/ and 4 speaker headphones that would be just too amazing I mean holy shit like really could that get any cooler
As much as I think that might be the shit, I dunno if I'd like jumping around with that bulky headset. I think that might actually fracture a few skulls.
Playing TF2 with the Oculus seems really annoying. I'd imagine it'd be easier just to play normally. There's better games for it.
Scary games like Penumbra and Amnesia would be so good with this. Mirrors edge too.
Mirrors Edge would become a horror game.
Playing TF2 with the Oculus seems really annoying. I'd imagine it'd be easier just to play normally. There's better games for it.
But some players would like to immerse themselves in the game's world you know.
I actually hope they implement the 'right eye sniper scope' thing they suggested. Amnesia, here I come!
I want one but I really want to wait for the consumer version. When the consumer version is out why would anyone want the dev kit?
I want one but I really want to wait for the consumer version. When the consumer version is out why would anyone want the dev kit?
Because the dev kit exists now. Consumer kit is estimated to arrive in Q3 2014. Still, I don't recommend it to anyone on a tight budget that isn't a developer. If VR takes off in the coming years however, I bet these dev kits will be valued like 1st batch SNES consoles in half a century :v: I heard some talk about a 2nd dev kit launching later this year, with positional tracking and some other features that bring it closer to the consumer kit.
Desk mic with Rift might be less than ideal though.
It shouldn't be too big of a problem, but you're right in that it might not be the best alternative. Still, I'd rather have the better headphones, and there's loads of clip on solutions for desk mics if you are into the DIY kind of stuff.
Looks cool, but too expensive and my eyes won't work with it. I have really really REALLY shit vision, and I also have a astigmatism so my right is really useless even with glasses on.
You can wear glasses with it; the guy in the video does.
You can wear glasses with it; the guy in the video does.
Oh, well it didn't look like it. Still I doubt it will look nearly as good as it does for people who have decent vision. I have a hard time even looking through binoculars with my glasses on. I would need to test it or something before I ever even consider buying the product.
I'd rather say higher tier headphones.
you don't /really/ need over 4 speaker / surround really. I want to do this on Amnesia, and Stalker, and hl2, and just cause 2 modded for pure first person (because it'd be a mindfuck)
it's really cool if you know how to do stereoscopic 3d you can make the video 3d for yourself
Is there a mod that makes first person like that? I really prefer that over the current "arms stay still while moving" thing.
my brother bought the dev kit should arrive in a few days. pretty excited to try it out.
After seeing it was a tested.com video I tought for a second this was going to be 20+ minutes of Adam Savage playing and commenting on TF2 Oculus gameplay after it turned out he was a secret Valve nerd. I can't think of any other way to make this video cooler.
This could Run TrackIR out of buisness
