Because I think the incredibly urgent and dramatic tone of the outrage is incredibly disproportionate
Is it? Is it really? This is an industry that many of us have been investing both time and money into for many many years. And it's slipping further and further away from us due to corruption, and you want us to just stand by and fuckin watch it happen? I am very passionate about gaming. Growing up in a house where my parents were always fighting, my sisters always spending time with each other and ignoring me, and being forced into private schools where I didn't get along with anyone and was constantly bullied, gaming was my escape from all that bullshit. The time, dedication, and passion that went into creating these other worlds to play in was the most brilliant thing to me back then. But then gaming started to get big, and the ground beneath its feet started to shrink. Major game companies started doing get rich practices and simplifying things down for the sake of making a buck. I was mostly fine with that, however, since I knew I could always find the passion that those games lacked from the indie scene of gaming. Now we're finding out that the indie scene of gaming is becoming corrupt in it's own ways. Who knows how many fantastic indie games are out there that will go unnoticed and ignored because they aren't with "the in crowd" right now. We're seeing gaming as a whole starting to crumble away from bad practices and deals under the table. The indie scene used to be the safe haven to fall back onto for when the triple a's and such started to become progressively worse, and now shit like this threatens the entirety of it. The damage smaller companies will have to deal with because of this won't be something that will be easy to recover from, and if this keeps up it has the potential to get to the point where you will have to dig HARD to find what games are actually good anymore, as opposed to being what's popular because they either belong to a large company who can market like mad or because they had the ins with the right people to get their game out there. I used to dream about becoming a game developer, and about working in the industry to help give back to them after they gave me so much. Now I want nothing to do with this industry. It's heartbreaking to watch my dream be completely destroyed by things like this. It's like meeting your hero in real life and finding out (s)he's a complete fake and douchebag. You'd be pretty upset too.
Max was permabanned shortly before he was modded
No, he got banned for a month because he posted gay Russian pirate porn in LMAO Pics.
Quick question, why was facepunch mentioned at 4:50? Also how the fuck did Gran get dragged into this all of a sudden.
It is like there is nepotism on facepunch
Do you know what that word means?

[editline]5th September 2014[/editline]
Do you know what that word means?
golds are all secretly related
People still give a shit about zoe quinn? Jesus fuck I am so fucking sick of hearing about her.
golds are all secretly related
GMFmythos
People still give a shit about zoe quinn? Jesus fuck I am so fucking sick of hearing about her.
It's not about zoe anymore it's about all of the corruption in gaming journalism and the indy game scene now.
yeah once they found out Nathan only wrote like one article about Zoe they had to quietly switch gears
yeah once they found out Nathan only wrote like one article about Zoe they had to quietly switch gears
yeah, he wrote two, one has since been deleted from RPS. though, that's never really been the issue, not since the first couple of days. You know, those first couple of days 2 or more weeks ago. Yeah, that "gear switch" was a while ago, and very loud. [editline]5th September 2014[/editline] what about depression quest winning the IGF award through having her friends on those judging panels? Oh, is that NOT an issue?
what about depression quest winning the IGF award through having her friends on those judging panels? Oh, is that NOT an issue?
nah I didn't know about that I haven't really been following this until like right now because I don't care about the devs involved and I don't care about silly game journalism that I don't read anyway
It's not about zoe anymore it's about all of the corruption in gaming journalism and the indy game scene now.
and to drive that point home there's been an effort to avoid using quinnspiracy altogether and go with gamergate. zoe isn't even yesterday's news. she's last week's news.

That's why she is still relivant.
