Yeah back in the day when cops got charged by pitbulls they would lay down and let it rip their face off
Pittbulls are naturally meant for fighting and whatnot. The dogs you are talking about are also clearly trained to attack other humans.
This dog wasn't trained to attack humans nor did it seem to be plausible in inflicting any sort of immense harm.
Just like when cops wait for muggers to start lightly stabbing them.
Dog charged him, got shot. Shit happens.
Since a human's degree of power and intellect can be compared to a dog?
its not like they fucking killed the dog jesus guys, they disabled it and started caring for it until they found the owner

homeless man was having a seizure IIRC

They didn't know that when they shot it, it's lucky that it's alive. I can understand the force just not the extent of force used.
are you joking
what do you mean they didn't know that. do you honestly think that he aimed for the head
Yeah back in the day when cops got charged by pitbulls they would lay down and let it rip their face off
My post is easily misinterpreted but I meant that whatever a cop does whether it was a good idea or not always has negative impact on civilians. People are always going to pull the bad out of an event instead of looking at it from a different angle.

No you're wrong, it was a straight up execution. Did you even watch the video? Clearly a 25-40 lb dog with sharp teeth and a bite force equivalent to hundreds of lbs was completely harmless. Furthermore, it was evident by the way the dog was loudly barking and running directly toward people very quickly that it did not intend to harm them, and this should have been extremely clear to both officers.
If only one of them had a tazer!
Yeah back in the day when cops got charged by pitbulls they would lay down and let it rip their face off
You completely misconstrued what he was saying.
What he meant was that the cops were in the right, yet the people demonized them for it.

What are you failing to understand, they didn't know when they shot it that it would survive. A shot is a pretty lethal thing for a dog to survive.

of course they didn't know, cops aren't hired to make complex calculations ahead of time. he had a second or two to make a decision, and he was probably trying to disable the dog, but if it died it died. It was a threat to the area and an immediate threat to himeself so he disposed of it in a reasonable way

How is the police officer supposed to know that?
The point is that you don't for something to start trying to kill you before you defend yourself.
The point isn't that he should take precautions, he should be all means. But shooting it needlessly like that, it was stupid. If it continued to be aggressive and clearly was biting his clothing and the like after he forced it back then excessive force may be necessary. The dog didn't even move towards him at a fast pace, yet he shot it like some monster had just jumped out of the blue.
It didn't move towards him at a fast pace? It fucking charged at him. Perhaps he should have waited until the dog bit into his leg to do something.
I bet all of the posters regarding an excessive use of force would use any weapon they had to defend themselves from a charging dog if need be.
I bet all of the posters regarding an excessive use of force would use any weapon they had to defend themselves from a charging dog if need be.
I've been attacked by a dog and didn't use such aggressive force, satisfied.

Or merely kicked it away, like I said for the billionth time I'm not disagreeing with the officers action due to use of force I'm disagreeing with the excessive use of force. He could have kicked the dog away, if it escalated further then by all means shot.

apparently that just pisses them off

Why take that chance of trying to kick it away? It all happen in about 1 second and within a couple feet. Kicking a dog charging at you isn't a good gamble to take.

OK, I see your point maybe it isn't the most rational thing to do.
A sick homeless man lying in the middle of the street:Whatever.
An aggressive dog getting shot: Oh my god you sick bastards, what has humanity become!
"Yeah the dog was attacking him, but it didn't know any better." (lady in the video)
I hate when people say shit like this. A shark doesn't know any better when it bites a person's leg off, but no one's going to say "oh poor shark, it didn't know any better".

But think of what that man's leg could do to the shark's mouth!
Seems to me there was no other way to go about things.
1. You don't wanna get bit by any dog but a homeless man's dog is worse considering he possibly can't afford all the proper vaccines.
2. He had a split few seconds to think and he was in a panic, I'm sure many people would be in a panic if a dog rushed them.
3. Everything turned out fine in terms of everybody being alive the only thing I can see that could be considered bad is that the dog and the owner are now apart and the dog lives in the kennels.
People are fucking stupid as shit. Cops can't ever do the right thing nowadays.
reminds me of one of my favourite youtube videos ever:
I don't get it. The dog "attacked" the woman before the cop, in the first few seconds of the video. And all it did was like jump on her. She didn't look scared or anything. Then when the dog goes from the cop they just down right shoot it. It looks like the dog was scared and sad that its owner is either dead or something. This wasn't a job for the police it was a job from the animal pound.
I don't know if you didn't know this, but dogs can severely fuck you up. Most people would have probably went for the gun, angry dogs are not to be fucked with.

Dude, have you ever seen how quickly a dog can kick someone's ass? Dogs are not weak little animals.
Dear fucking jesus!
Dog attacks officer, officer shoots the dog, "WHY DID YOU DO THAT HOLY FUCK NO WADAS FAK GMALKGÖ AGMSDLKÖGM SDKLGMSD ÖGMEÖ MAEAÖWEAMD!"
SERIOUSLY?!
What was they supposed to do? Pet the fucker and throw it some doggy treats? Last time I checked the police are not issued doggy treats.
Or should they have just yelled "BAD DOG, BAD DOG!" until it became submissive and they would've been able to check IF THE HOMELESS GUY WAS OK OR NOT?
They did exactly what they had to do. The dog was a threat to the officers AND the people watching, as you could see in the start of the video when the dog attacks that one lady.
What does the police do if you're agressive, armed and running towards the officers? Yeah, they shoot you dead. End of story.
"I DIDN'T SEE THE DOG HAVING A WEAPON!!! THAT LOGIC DOESN'T WORK!"
Last time I checked, they dog has a mouth full of sharp teeth that can inflict a shitload of damage.
People are so fucking stupid that it makes me sick.
rofl
Pitbulls are like one of the most aggressive dog breeds. If their jaws lock onto you, they will fuck your shit up. He had every right to shoot the dog.
Wait, just curious - why is everyone saying the officer was in panic? He didn't have to be. Of course he was probably a bit nervous and maybe frightened, but I watched the video a couple of times and to me it looked like he handled the situation pretty well. Obviously his adrenaline was pumping and whatnot, I mean the guy did just use his firearm; the obnoxious stupid fucking crowd yelling and screaming for no damn reason wasn't helping either.
One thing some departments actually hand officers during training is a list of dog breeds with their pictures and information. If you see any of the listed dogs "charging" at you or acting as an immediate hostile threat, then you're allowed to shoot them. Dogs get shot all the time lol
why coulnd't they use taser???
why coulnd't they use taser???
"Whoops, I missed!"
And then the dog ate Johnnys penis.
