Microsoft's first Xbox One TV commercial has absolutely zero videogames

But people can do all of this on their PCs they already own
you dont start your video game console marketing with side functions.
What an idiotic way to start

the video games are the side functions
Are we going to repeat the "Games will be at E3" fiasco again or what.
Who the fuck even has TVs that big? Jesus shit sit further back assholes, you're wasting such a sweet TV.
The first television advertisement for a video console should contain video games. Fuck even put some footage of Madden in there at least. This is a clear indication that MS gives more shits about it being an "entertainment device" than a video game console, which is a sign that they may very well not give a shit about releasing good games on it.
It's almost as if they're marketing it as an all-in->>>>>>>>ONE<<<<<<<<<< entertainment system! Woah!
They should have learned from the mistakes that were arising with the 360 by making an entirely new entertainment system box thing that does tv music skype internet apps and all that and made a console focused solely on games.
What they have is an ugly mess of trying to combine both and neither parties are satisfied.
Watch against all odds this is exactly the kind of thing that makes xb1 huge in the "Wii" sense
AKA people buy xbox one for NFL and TV stuff instead of for actual games much like how the fad non-gamer crowd got the Wii because it was a fun toy to play wii sports on while keeping the kid quiet too
if this happens, it will literally not affect you in any way at all. "non-gamers" are buying my video game system! oh boo hoo!
this is why a lot of people don't like gamers. they treat their dumb hobby like an exclusive club and don't let casuals or women or anybody in.
play something i don't play? you're not a real gamer! play games that are "casual?" not a "REAL GAMER!" play mobile games because you don't want to invest up to a thousand dollars on a game system, gaming PC, games, and game accessories! casual/not a real gamer! you're an attractive female that cosplays at conventions? probably not a "REAL GAMER!"
grow up and stop complaining about people who don't affect you. you'll have an excuse to bitch if they LITERALLY steal your obscure niche-audience ukrainian developed tactical survival horror roguelike "REAL" games.
They should have had a thing where they say when the game is over you can keep playing and throw in a quick clip of Madden 25 or something.

yeah then why isnt there anything else besides tv and skype, those hardly constitute as "all in one"

The video is titled "The NFL on Xbox One." Why would they show skype or anything else in a 31 second trailer with that title?
And it's not like they can only create 1 trailer for the console.
Xbox one confirmed for being incompatible with video games. Only does sports.
Honestly I think this is pretty cool. They're marketing their selves towards people who don't just play video games. I'm sure upper middle class guys in their 30s wouldn't mind the inclusion of a fantasy football app for the console. Smart business decision and honestly a cool evolution of technology outside it's original purposes.
It's like how the cell phone became the smart phone. The video game console is becoming the smart video game console.
I feel like this points out something nobody mentioned.
YES, It's supposed to be a games console. If they did an advertisement your first thought would be that games are in there, but the advertisement is showing something you've never seen an xbox do before. I guess it makes sense "Hey, why put them playing games on the ad when everybody knows that's what it already does. Let's show them what you don't know you can do on an xbox"
It's true, 5 years ago you could easily argue what's the point of having a brand new mobile phone that does all these cool things if you can just do them on your computer. Why does it come with so many things that don't involve calling or sending text messages. You don't see them advertise a phone showing them answering and receiving calls, the ad shows you all the things you can now do on the phone.
It seems like what they are trying to do is appeal to people who wouldn't normally buy an Xbox because not everyone likes to play games, and people who won't ever play a game on their new console will still use it all the time because it's a fancy new home entertainment system, with way more features than any other, it's almost becoming a super smart digital television box.
You know there's something wrong when a video game console's commercial doesn't show any video games.
TV is a (very slowly) dying medium and is almost non-existant among gamers, so they seem to be ditching the gamer market in favor of something that won't be relevant in 50 years. this can't be good for MS.
which is fine because wii u for local multiplayer/good games and ps4 for graphics/lots of games, so why bother with an xbone?

what is your point, even. there are dozens of trailers about games on the xbox one. also if it's being marketed as an all in one media system, they're going to show off other features like the NFL app.
are you guys even trying anymore or are you literally finding any reason you can to post epic zingers about how much the new xbox will suck

nah im just trying to say the first TV commercial which will broadcast to a wider audience than "internet trailers" may want to focus on more than football and calling your friends.
Honestly you think you are any better literally going in every thread about the xbox and defending it just because everyone thinks microsoft is failing with it?

Big TV's aren't all that expensive anymore.

it's to be expected from him/her tbh now everyone pretty much ignores it
Whats the hell is NFL and what about Europe?
tv tv tv tv tv tv sports tv tv tv sports sports sports sports tv
I've always wondered why Microsoft didn't make a pure entertainment version of the Xbone (maybe they will in the future) where they removed the gaming capabilities so they could sell it at a reduced price to the type of people who bought a 360 to use it solely for Netflix.
