Been perma banned on that game for toxic behaviour, something to do with the name of Allah Worshipper just never got me off to a good start. Surprised I got to level 30 in all fairness.
It's not the fact that he used a little trash talk, it's the fact he literally got ANGRY and wrote a 5-6 line-long diatrive about this guy explaining how he's human scum (for not winning a video game). It's not even good trash talk or have any style to it, it was just flat out hatred from a popular figure in the community. A week ban is totally justified and the fact he threw a hissy fit and quit the game because they didnt give him special treatment by unbanning him early? Deplorable.
Man, it is weird to play Dota 2 and Heroes of Newerth and see how slow LoL looks.
League of legends has broken Dunkey but at least his healing can begin.
The funny thing is that this is exactly the reason I can't get into MOBAs or most competitive multiplayer games in general. I want to play games to relax and unwind, not get worked up, frustrated, and have some kid insult me for an hour straight. Dunky is exactly the player I wouldn't want to play with or against, so it's amusing that he's getting frustrated that the company making the game is actively trying to make the game more enjoyable for a wider audience. It's extra amusing that he thinks he is entitled to special treatment because he makes YouTube videos. I like how at no point in this video does he consider that he is part of the reason why these games are so terrible. Dunkey, I love ya, you're hilarious, but take a look in the mirror a bit. Maybe this is all a big joke and it flew over my head, but still.
context is key, yeah he deserved the ban but the fact that he was banned pretty much told his brain that he didn't really like league for a long time to begin with
I do agree with that, it's incredibly stupid for what you can get banned for in league. Dota handles every aspect a lot better, and you don't get punished for even speaking your mind.
I wasn't expecting him to start saying how he doesn't like the game, but I'm glad he said it. I think I've always felt similar (although I haven't played it as much as him) but I could've never put it in words like that.
i really like dunkey but this is just whiny i mean i completely understand quitting, when league's frustrating i just take a break which is not something he can do since he needs to produce content, but i still think the video is a bit too much
I talk shit in games because it's part of psychological warfare. I've noticed in rocket league, if I call my teammates trash (often a deserved insult) they get all huffy and start playing their hearts out trying to prove me wrong. Trash talk is an integral part of competitive games, in both the physical and digital realms. You should hear some of the shit football players say to each other on the field trying to get in each other's heads.
It's different from person to person tho. Like when I get called a shut player by a team mate I tend to play worse. I'm not saying that talking smack is bad or that you shouldn't do it, just that you can still win without resorting to trash talking. Then again I'm mostly a casual gamer so what do I know.
I'd be toxic too if I had to play a shitty game to make a million or however many subscribers happy.
i really like dunkey but this is just whiny i mean i completely understand quitting, when league's frustrating i just take a break which is not something he can do since he needs to produce content, but i still think the video is a bit too much
It's not really whiny, it's fairly obvious if you're a fan of dunkey that this video is largely a joke. He being over dramatic about it on purpose because that's what he does in his videos. He just got bored of the game and wanted out, so instead of just going 'im out' he did a final video and overshot it on purpose because thats the style of his humor. Also this thread's pretty funny with people bitching about talking shit in games. Is it nice to talk shit? No. Is it part of the game? not by design no but within the culture. Do you not like that or can't take it? the games not for you. 'oh but i like the game and i shouldn't have to stop playing it cause of the community'. Awesome you don't play bot matches or play solely with a party of your friends.
I guess the melodramatic music and the overall 'woe is poor little me' tone is supposed to make me sympathize with him but honestly, if anything, it's doing the exact opposite. Yes, let me feel sorry for the asswhipe who decided to full-on flame the hell out of his teammate and then cried when he got banned. I feel your pain, dude who didn't get unbanned and decided to be a whiny little bitch about it.
Dunkey's had to deal with griefers and dumb shits for a long time and he's consistently been punished more than they have both by getting banned in their place and by losing rank and wasting his time due to their griefing. He has every right to be pissed off.
Talking shit in a MP game is part of the experience. As long as he wasnt going around telling people hes going to rape their family and kill their dog, it's fine in my book. If you dont like being told you're terrible at a game and you should quit, you probably should either A, disable chat, or B, dont play online But perhaps I have a skewed opinion on this since i played a lot of COD growing up and gave/received a lot of terrible threats.
People that say "oh you should just stop whining and turn off the chat" are part of the problem. You're just enabling the toxic assholes with that statement. I shouldn't have to turn off chat to play the game. Chat isn't the only way people can be dicks. In competitive games like League, people can go AFK on purpose, fuck with their teammates by stealing shit like buffs or creeps or use gameplay mechanics to screw with them on purpose, or feed the other team kills all game.
Good. I stopped playing mobas entirely for the most part because it's just not fun anymore. He actually went through a lot of good points. The game forces itself competitively too much. It's hard to have fun while also playing to win because the meta is just so strict and you get shit-talked for trying anything different, and you also have people who just want to ruin the experience for others. At least Dota has custom games, I'd love to see Dunkey pick that up. I also just don't like Riot for various reasons but that's another story.
stopped with dota for the exact same reasons Smite is a really good alternative.
Imagine getting permabanned for swearing at someone in a videogame. Edit: Oh so it's a week ban?... well he could've waited that one out instead of asking them to unban him, in order to finish his video.
Imagine getting permabanned for swearing at someone in a videogame.
[sp]He was banned for like, a week[/sp]
Imagine getting permabanned for swearing at someone in a videogame.
he got a week ban, not perma'd you need to do this very very often to actually get perma'd in league
Sometimes playing with bad people in games does just suck (tho if he was feeding on purpose then that isn't bad that is trolling). Granted I don't think he should've raged in the chat but I don't like the direction games are going in of punishing players who want to have fun their way. Valve won't punish you for telling someone to get gunned down but they'll punish you for just abandoning a game filled with bad players in Mvvm.
Stop getting mad at video games, basically. And as far as I consider things telling someone "they should be gunned down in the street" is getting pretty mad at video games. Yes, yes I know, shittalking is a big part of competitive games... which is why I don't like playing them that much anymore.
Glad to see he is gonna quit on this (assuming this vid wasn't a joke) since that probably means more vids on other games. But he did seem pretty damn salty as well:
Y'know on the one hand I hate shitheads who harass you but on the other hand a game where you can be banned for the slightest transgression for being 'toxic' sounds way shittier. Yeah, sure, his insult was something that sounds like something a 12 year old would say. It probably wasn't even meant in a very serious manner. But when the other guy is an asshole, the other guy is an asshole. A blanket ban on insulting people sucks because some people really need to be told to go fuck themselves. Good on him for stopping playing League, really. If he doesn't have any passion or love for the game then he shouldn't play it. You should always play games that you like, or, if you don't like them, playing them on purpose for the laughs and making fun of it and all that shit (see TBF's Sadness Trilogy) when you're just playing a game that isn't fun, or interesting, or engaging and any way and just makes you feel like bored shit, you really shouldn't play it even if it disappoints the fans
Glad to see he is gonna quit on this (assuming this vid wasn't a joke) since that probably means more vids on other games. But he did seem pretty damn salty as well:
Damn, the hell is up with your font?
Damn, the hell is up with your font?
His ClearType is probably calibrated for his specific screen, so it looks terrible on ours.
"i hope you get fucking gunned down you braindead piece of shit".
Do you really get that hurt by trash talk in a videogame?
seems like someone's never played anything competitive oh wait you're brazilian, aren't they the most shittalkative people after eastern europeans and russians if you still haven't encountered bantz like that then congrats
Everytime I play with somebody from Brazil in csgo it is an awful experience
i really like dunkey but this is just whiny i mean i completely understand quitting, when league's frustrating i just take a break which is not something he can do since he needs to produce content, but i still think the video is a bit too much
i dont. league sucks, i used to play league and i had issues with the same things he has issues with. its a game that caters to the lowest common denominator and it's full of assholes and idiots. hes obviously salty that he got banned and that riot wouldn't unban him, but it's probably for the best that he plays other games.
his league videos had some really good jokes rip
I don't understand why people are suddenly acting like trash-talking in a game is justifiable. Sure, you can set them to ignore, but assuming they get their shit together sometime during the game, you won't be able to communicate with them as easily. It's a lose-lose situation. One of the biggest reasons why a lot of people don't play mobas is because of the toxicity. Everyone knows this. Why are we suddenly acting like it's okay? Just because Dunkey does it? You're not supposed to enforce one of mobas' biggest problems.
