i stopped caring what people think about ASMR because people are always going to intentionally find the most bizarre shit and then insist that those videos are what ASMR is truly about
to quote the always relevant snoop dogg, "if you don't know, you won't know"
I love asmr videos very much but i honestly hate this guy. The way he talks in general irks me, and his videos are like hours long clips of him rubbing blocks together while staring at the camera. All the while using low quality equipment.
These ASMR videos remind me of that one time where I was sleep deprived for several days due to simply doing too much stuff to bother sleeping and my brain just sort of started splitting apart into several beings with completely different voices and personality that had debates and arguments with each other and it went on to the point where I basically hallucinated about people chilling in my bedroom until I eventually just collapsed and slept for an entire day.
I'm not sure if I should feel comfortable about that.
I don't know what ASMR is and just kinda stumbled into this thread, but holy Shit something about the perfect shave video was incredibly soothing. Can't stand the weird ones where the people speak to you and roleplay and stuff. Pretty neat nonetheless.

For me, and I think quite a few other people, it was something that had to be slowly eased into. the first time I ever experienced ASMR was with people typing on keyboards, I didn't know what ASMR was back then, but I eventually seeked out other keyboard typing videos, stumbling into a field of "[ASMR] Keyboard typing" type titled videos. Eventually I started just searching for those keywords, sometimes I'd run into a video that had brushing, but whenever I landed on a video with whispering or "personal interaction" It always felt every awkward. After listening to brushing, typing, folding, drawing, etc... I eventually got used to the sort of weirdness ASMR videos made me feel. I've been listening to ASMR for 4 years now and it's really helped me relax and get to sleep.
Anyway, that's just my story, but I'm pretty sure others who watch whispers had a similar experience.
This is my favourite ASMR video
