the guns look like they have no weight to them at all
i get that they're laser blasters but it doesn't even feel like he's firing it at all
no recoil, very little spread, no ammo
all the game modes look like this too
game looks and sounds nice though, shame they can't get the gameplay right though
thats because blasters have none of those things
even their electron packs are rechargable most of the time
i can't see how they "can't get the gameplay right though" when the series jumped from a clunky mess that was BF2's gameplay to basically industry standard setting shit. Like I get Battlefield's formula may not be for everyone, but Battlefront has always been highly reminiscent of Battlefield titles, and most people seem to forget that BF2 (while fun!) was not a mechanically sound game in many aspects.
IIRC they were asked by Disney to focus on the OT and the new movie.
They focused on the OT so they wouldn't have to split resources between two sets of assets.
Also the only thing Episode 7 related is Jakku, that is it, and it takes place 1 year after ROTJ so it isn't even in the Ep7 time period.
Every bit of footage I see for this only further confirms that it'll be shit

But this looks like a boring cookie cutter shooter designed by a bunch of men in suits with pie charts

Try the open beta this week.
Try the open beta this week.
I would but it's unoptimised garbage that likely won't play on my 670gtx

The Alpha played better then Battlefield 4 does for me.
You don't have any of the consoles?
now i can laugh at people who said that the game is good despite half of the usual content you would find in battlefront 2 missing
now i can laugh at people who said that the game is good despite half of the usual content you would find in battlefront 2 missing
I still think it is good.
I still think it is good.
imo it will probably be decent at best judging by the new footage.
then again dice can pull a BF4 and build a good game over time.
People keep comparing the game to the other battlefront games and that's the problem
You gotta compare it to more towards battlefield
Honestly, the only thing impressive from BF3 is once again Dices great look and sound design.
It really just looks like battlefield with a star wars skin, when Battlefront was always far more of an AI army type game. Usually the players themselves were kind of the odd ones out. This looks like the players are more of the force with tiny armies.
If your one of those people who buy like 5 games a year and this is just something you want then thats fine, im sure BF3 will be fun and scratch a starwars itch. But if you even follow games or buy them more regularly you shouldnt be so stupid and fall for this, you know something more worthwhile exists.

If they wanted to avoid the comparisons maybe the shouldn't have named the game Star Wars: Battlefront.

This is just stupid. Why would you say this. The fans asking for a Battlefront 3 were asking for a Battlefront 3, not Battlefield starwars. Very big difference and deciding factor. BF1 and BF2 were so good because they stood out uniquely. This doesnt.

Excuse me if I'm not talking about the gamemode in this video in particular, but how exactly is this comparable to battlefield? Battlefield didn't have its vehicles cluttered around the map in a seemingly random "power up" fashion. It also wasn't possible to instantly switch to a one-shot sniper rifle and then back to your assault rifle with a short cooldown. Battlefield had a class system that pretty much forced you to do teamplay to be good. I can't see anything reminiscent of battlefield in this game, except the part where you shoot your gun at enemies and the name of the dev company.

Yeah.
Sorry for thinking my Battlefront sequel should be a battlefront game.
When is the open beta coming?
On one hand I am doubtful this game will be as good as Battlefront 2, but on the other hand I just want to shave my neckbeard and take off my fedora and try to find the next big multiplayer FPS to enjoy consistently since Red Orchestra 2 and Bad Company 2, even if the game is just a giant puddle of assjuice.
I can't believe people go "Yep this is shit because it's not 1:1 the same as Battlefront 2"
I'm really finding it hard to keep being interested in this game. There's just nothing to keep me hooked to the game. The different multiplayer modes will be fun for the first few times, but beyond that there is nothing, no singleplayer story or whatever, to keep me playing.

I never really did those singleplayer modes in Battlefront, to me battlefront 1 and 2 kept me addicted for the insanely good map design and the kickass gameplay with tons of in your face chaos and thermal detonators out the asshole with bodies flying everywhere.
It truly was like Battlefield but for ADHD starwars kids who loved ridiculously chaotic battles rather than the more long range and tactical maps of Battlefield 2.
This looks like it has nowhere near the same amount of "testosterone". it looks clean, pretty, polished, but I don't see the spark of insanity and fun.
Clone Wars > Galactic Civil War
The prequels were shit but the setting was pretty interesting
Honestly, drop zone looks okay if you're just looking for a simple sort of CTF/Capture point style game mode with just guns, a decent sized map, and no vehicles. But everything else so far has just looked like what everyone else has been saying: it looks bland, it looks like Battlefield with lasers (I was hoping it wouldn't turn out this way, really), and the lack of actual Battlefront* gameplay is disappointing. Why is almost everything a power up? Why not just have dedicated classes with class specific gear? Why can't there be vehicles set around the maps instead of using a power up (like how in RO2 you originally had to select a class in order to spawn as a tank, instead of just being able to operate one, however I DON'T think that vehicles should be restricted to specific classes.) to use one?
If this is gonna play more like Battlefield, then it should at least be like 2142.

Runs decently on my GTX 860M on low/medium settings at 1080p. Not getting a solid 60, but at least it doesn't dip below 30fps.
A GTX 670 should be fine.

Objectively wrong. Fighting as and against droids is boring as fuck.
now i can laugh at people who said that the game is good despite half of the usual content you would find in battlefront 2 missing
Didn't DICE some where say that in the beta we are not getting everything equip wise the game has to offer? Also if I remember correctly BF never had a huge amount of weapons really, just class specific ones. some just using the same model as the base blaster but with different effects will the trigger pull.
I really really am not getting the hate this game is gaining even though very few people have tried it. Even so with the amount of footage we've gotten why are we expecting something along the lines of an extremely enhanced port? When it first was spoken about I knew it was going to abit more "battlefield-ized" as to draw more people to it from that community.
I'm just happy its happening and I can mess with it this on my long weekend.

Playing as the droideka was my shit, man

It feels nothing like Battlefield.
I just laugh at how most of these games gameplay wise or either getting dumber or playing catch up with the past.
Looks great, but nothing innovative at all here.
It's really the lack of the Clone Wars that's so off-putting to me. CIS were my favorite faction :(
CIS scum
Nah it was nice, playing as a droideka was nice variety and stuff
In this there are no differences between the two factions in terms of weapons/abilities
Just appearance

droideka's demolished so hard though...
