I think the problem is that the people making the videos are trying too hard to be ''relaxing'', creating the opposite effect for many.
These videos work a lot better when they're unintended to be used like that. Take for example any Bob Ross video. You feel cozy and relaxed within 5 seconds of any video of him painting, even though his main idea was to teach you how to paint gorgeous landscapes.
If the person making the video doesn't have the tone/voice necessary for something like that, then no matter what s/he tries, it just won't work.
They got like all the Bob Ross videos on youtube now.
Lmao I just realized the jumpscare was another meta joke about ASMR, being unsettled & on-edge instead of relaxed for the whole video. Bravo salvia.
I do get the tingles from ASMR videos, but the ones that do it intentionally aren't really good at it for me (generally, rare exceptions exist). And now YouTube has been oversaturated with "ASMR" videos that are just plain dumb or half-assed, or comedy gold mines, like that Diddy Kong one.
Unintentional stuff is where it's at, like this:
No talking, no weirdo whispering into your asshole, just tea time.

Unintentional is best.

That's pretty fucking cool.
I wanted to see how the hell that thing "fired", didn't expect it to.
And then he pulled out the blow-pipe and blew the shot out (and then ejected the shell). My mind was blown. :v:
I lost my fucking shit on that Voldemort part
Like, why is that even a thing
OK now that i know what ASMR is all those videos are still giving only one question - WHY
what kind of a creepy self-centered antisocial person you'd have to be to watch videos on internet for a
tingly sensation feeling
Can't you just masturbate to porn like all normal people?

I don't get the hostility, if people can play a video that instantly relaxes them, then I don't see the problem.
If I want to get some work done that I'm stressed out over, I can just put an ASMR video on in the background, and get to work on a project.
It's also great for sleep, I used to have really bad insomnia until I discovered it (back in 2011).
And finally, ASMR isn't sexual to basically anyone who watches it.
People should try going outside. It's full of sounds.

It's nothing new or special, it's similar to how some people like the sound of rain. Stop being so negative.
If we're posting non-asmr ASMR inducing videos, The Food Surgeon is a great one

i can't enjoy this video because the cookie is oatmeal raisin. fucking disgusting man.
There is some YouTube channel that makes those insane Japanese candy kits. They have no music, no dialog, it's just the noises from them making that stuff. It's pretty great. I can't find it because there are a shitton of channels now that do that shit with music and people talking over it about bullshit.
ASMR videos can range from great to ...weeeeiiiird

I was unaware that Russia was against ASMR as well.

Don't try and deny it. I see you there, jerking your brain boner to sound smut, geting your audioerotic fix. Don't think I didn't notice the way you looked at those sexy ice cubes clinking in a glass as a beverage was poured in to the absence of all other sounds.
Come to think of it, throwing in a jump scare in an ASMR video would be a hilarious dick move.
Or suddenly yelling into the mic

I got this feeling all the time when I was little. I had a really hard time explaining it, and it always felt like something was wrong with me.
Generally, I'd get it listening to a teacher or watching someone do something complicated. A 'learning' sensation.
Attaching a label to it (ASMR) and then associating it with all these blatantly sexual and awkward videos kind of ruins it. It's a cool feeling.
i'm not sure if i really understand asmr. is it supposed to give you a tingle down your spine? cause all the asmr videos i see either make me really giggly or really agitated.
