Magic School Bus Rides Again - Netflix Reboot trailer
What makes this even worse is. We know Netflix has the money to give this show some decent animation and voice actors. But they just didn't.
I remember when "Netflix Original" meant that whatever it was it was going to be good or at the very least have high production values. That's obviously becoming less and less the case with shit like this getting greenlit.

hey, every company's gotta drag their reputation into the dirt for no reason eventually
why is that
this episode explains why 12 oz mouse looked like total shit, probably because it was on a budget of $50
I heard the story behind 12 oz. Mouse is Adult Swim allowed it to be broadcasted because the creator told them they could air it for free.

I think the first projects got a lot more budget to play around with than the later fare
hey, every company's gotta drag their reputation into the dirt for no reason eventually

Because companies get lazy. They assume their viewers will eat up this shit no matter what. It's the same shit that made people quit television all together.

many new projects, not enough budget or fucks given to have any idea of consistency in this case
Woah, total Frizzle overload!
That is the least Carlos joke they could ever make.
At my old school, we didn't have shitty reboots of beloved children's cartoons.

Plus a lot of:
You like a chat client because it's got some really clever design features, it gets sold for a zillion dollars, the guy who's clever enough to come up with those quirks that made it special no longer run the company...
What's next? A Reboot of The Big Comfy Couch? God help us all if that happens.

H-hey now, I'd kinda like to see that...
Why the fuck is Miss Frizzle being replaced? Is this like Jainie's makeover in Real Ghostbusters, where executives didn't think she looked nice enough or whatever?j
Yeah speaking of ghostbusters, Kate McKinnon is the new voice. Fucking yuck.
Christ. She jumped like 10 feet up to get those keys.
The show is for young kids, not us.
The show's 100% cashing in on our nostalgia for shows we grew up with as a kid. That's the only reason to reboot this, to reboot Bill Nye.
And, like Disney did with BNTSG, Netflix is lookin' to fuck this one up big time as well.
I think it's a massive missed opportunity for the new teacher to just know how to use the bus. Imagine if she was a typical substitute teacher way out of her depth. I mean, there's obviously no way the school would let the Frizz take those kids on all of those incredibly dangerous field trips, so she probably doesn't tell them about the bus.
Maybe I'm expecting too much from a kids edutainment show.
But its a kids show and I'm not a kid anymore, so obviously the quality is irrelevant because who cares if the next generation of kids have access to the same level of quality edutainment that teaches the value of both diversity and science education!
Just looking at that video's thumbnail makes me wish there was a "vomit" rating. It looks like one of those creepy mass produced flash-animated clickbait Youtube videos for little kids; you know the kind I'm talking about.
Teacher kidnaps kids using pseudo psychedelic drugs.
SICK FUCK.
No, not fake news, Trump! :chem101:
Yesterday at work I heard a kid chanting that "Johnny Johnny" rhyme. I can't escape it.

1,96 billion views wtf how
hey quick question people why do you insist on using generic looking designs for characters, which is especially a sin when you are rebooting something with an already established artstyle
Hey, at least it isn't live action.
The fuck is with all this garbage... this and the powerpuff girls getting a fourth... what is going on with these reboots being shite
It looks like trash

This is giving me those GoAnimate! Vibes.
America is running out of ideas.
They're rebooting everything.
Stop. Please

They're done because higher-ups are terrified of risk and want to cash in on nostalgia, not because somebody who really cared wanted to bring it back and to do it justice.
And they just gave it to incompetent people on top of that because said suits don't care either way for what the final product looks like.

No it's not that we're out of ideas. It's that the idea-creators and the idea-owners are different people. Mickey Mouse decided that if you make (or buy) something, you should own it long enough to sell it to the grandchildren of your original fan-base. Just go out to the public domain, steal a bunch of stories, trademark them, and then re-write the law to say you own them for multiple human lifetimes!
No but really, this is why you see so many reboots. It used to a bad word, and thus a sketchy move, to try and reboot something in case it flopped and thats all that people talked about for a day. Nowadays anybody with an asset of any kind is flipping it. These IP's that are getting shitty reboots are just the ones who's IP-holders would've said "Eh, its too risky. I'll just hold on to it" when propositioned for a reboot a few years ago.
Toonboom was a mistake.
Don't blame toon boom for this, Rick and Morty and Wander over Yonder are animated in toon boom
The art style looks like those shitty Yahoo! avatars from way back.
I feel like designs for reboots should be decided with a poll or something, because clearly the people doing cartoon reboots nowadays have no fucking idea what they're doing
It's a shame that the best part of this trailer was Lin Manuel Miranda singing the Magic School Bus theme
Why does 90% of animation look like generic flash garbage now? The theme is way less punchy too.
Also I don't really see why they're replacing Miss Frizzle, seems like kind of a pointless decision.
traditional animation is expensive and requires talent, one of the reasons why japan can still do hand animated shows is because their animators are paid really poorly and are worked to the bone.
1 week later, and upon re-watching...,.
I stand by what I said. I'm looking forward to this.
