as opposed to putting them in an easily identifiable, easily stolen, and easily cracked cabinet?
qvat
The company's channel uploaded it for anyone who prefers to watch it on YouTube. Gotta love one of the comments on Liveleak though: "200 guns and 4 books on the book shelf. I guess that's what America has become...."
Damn, this thread be full o' Fudds
That's not that many guns at all. He's not crazy or a terrorist, he just devised a better way to store his guns which he obviously collects. There's nothing wrong with that and I for one love this idea. It was so beautifully constructed and executed. I don't see why you guys are making a big deal out of it.
i have target shooters for friends that is, indeed, a lot of guns. while i'm less creeped out by the thought of hiding all of these things (they're much more secure there than your average gun locker - however i question how well it would stay hidden from children in the home which is important) than I am by the sheer volume of weaponry the guy has. that's a lot of knives and a lot of handguns. having a hunting rifle or two is fine, but there were a shitload of handguns, far more than is necessary.

Even then, I would think that any gun owner would most likely have this bookshelf in their bedroom, or at least in a spot that they can easily access it while keeping it in a spot where children may not even realize that it has hidden compartments. Now, for a single guy or couple without children they could put this in the living room and no one would be none the wiser.
The problem with safes is that they scream, "Hey! I've got valuables and or guns in here!" Safes aren't 100% impenetrable. Anybody with the right tools can bust into one; it's just to deter criminals from taking the risk. I actually have a friend who's house was robbed once. They had a huge gunsafe in their basement that was empty, it was given as a gift to my friend's dad for working with his company for 25 years. One day they came home to their place ransacked and the safe was missing; there were various metal shavings around where it was but the safe itself was gone. The benefit of hiding guns in places like this is that if someone does rob you there's little to no chance they would ever find your valuables. Of course, there's the fact that this isn't the best fireproof method, but it still does keep them hidden and out of sight.
Didn't he have all his expensive camera gear or guns or something in a suitcase like right next to it? Or am I thinking of somebody else?
