Sequel to Thunderdome. The movie was supposed to be made a while back but they couldn't find the time and Mel Gibson went absolutely bonkers so they gave up on it until now.
Actually, it takes place between 1 and 2.
As a side note, Nicholas Hoult's character seems pretty annoying.

i'm absolutely fine with that. if i've just seen every set-piece big action bit of the film then that's great because i want to know what comes in between and what story leads us to these action scenes
i dont want 2hrs of non-stop action and 45 minute fight sequences
They were going to film in Australia but then it rained in their filming location and the place no longer looked like a desert, so they said fuck it and moved to America.
But why doesn't it have any Australian actors? I don't think I'll bother with, it's too American.

"It's too American even though 80% of the cast is English."

19 of the 26 actors listed on IMDb are Australians.
have you seen mad max 3
Beyond Thunderdome is a decent movie but a terrible Mad Max film.
Although, its issues can likely be attributed to Byron Kennedy's death just before production started, so George Miller bowed out of directing the majority of the film due to the grief of losing his partner-in-crime and best friend. The "Americanization" feeling probably crept in when they hired an American director to film the rest of the movie.

that's for comedies
here it's not so bad because
the unknown context
I'm a little concerned about the presence of post-70s cars (considering MM1 seemingly took place in the late 70s/early 80s) but also sad because a lot of pre-70s cars are being destroyed.
I double checked and apparently George Miller said at a test screening last April that it was going to be a reboot because too much time passed since Thunderdome was released to make this one a sequel.

I'm saying cars made after 1979 or so shouldn't even be in the movie. There was a 90s something Mercedes.

this looks fucking awesome, I can't wait to see it. It's just insane.
I always found it funny that Max manages to destroy whatever power source he comes across in the end.

I heard accents all over the place in the trailer.
Go get your hearing checked.
this movie looks insane
i really seriously need to give the older ones a watch finally
Watch 1 & 2 and maybe watch Beyond Thunderdome. But remember, that one is PG-13 AND IS TOTAL BALLS COMPARED TO 1 AND 2. On its own, it's good.
