If you think this is what it's like in the "south", you're a fucking moron. I've lived here all my life and never met someone like that. Don't believe everything you hear.
The show takes place in Georgia and unfortunately there is a lot of people here like that. But then again there is people like that in every state.

Only south GA. North Georgia around atlanta is not like that at all, most people don't even have strong accents.

It really doesn't have to do with accents, just culture. Im sure there is a ton of people in North Georgia just the same. Specifically up around the Appalachian mountains.
[editline]9th August 2012[/editline]
Really a lot of people you would categorize as trailer trash don't have heavy accents at all.
It's pretty good. A lot of people from up here are more tolerable and accepting as well as intelligent.
My entire class is made of people like me essentially (I know that sounds egotistical, but I'm just pointing it out because that's why we get along so well). We have our share of religious nuts and conservatives but they aren't nearly as rampant here as, well, anywhere else really.
We don't have the "douchebags" like California or Florida (the 20-something assholes that crowd the beach and are generally shit) but we have the Great Lakes that you can use in the summer, we don't have the physco religious people from the deep-south or New England, we don't have the rude New Yorkers, and we don't have redneck fucks like these. Obviously, these are mostly stereotypes, and not everybody in these parts of the country are like this, but even the slightest hint of them in conspicuously absent.
We have Ghettos up by Chicago though, lots of Ghettos. And the farther west you get the more Conservative and horrible people get. Indiana is right in the middle, and it, Michigan, and Ohio are all pretty good.
What about Pennsylvania?
I don't see too many Conservatives around here, or maybe I'm just blind
They seem annoying as fuck but it also seems like they're happier than 99% of the people I know.
I fucking hate hedonism.
Only south GA. North Georgia around atlanta is not like that at all, most people don't even have strong accents.
Yeah, I lived in Douglasville, GA about 30 min outside of Atlanta. I did know a few white trash hillbillies but they're easy to ignore.
Same thing happened with the History channel.
Used to be the hive of educational shit and learning and then reality tv hit it and now it's all about pawn shops and bigfoot.
[editline]8th August 2012[/editline]
I appear to be late
Pawn shop is actually a pretty interesting show.
Where the hell did they find these people?
Only south GA. North Georgia around atlanta is not like that at all, most people don't even have strong accents.
Thank you, my point exactly.
Even in south Georgia, you kind of have to look for it a bit to find this kind of mockery.
[sub]...Says he who's ancestry probably was similar.[/sub]
if you miss the old history/discovery channels check out the Smithsonian channel
The seem like a nice and happy family actually.
the only concrete objection I really have to them on the grounds of this video alone is the child pageant thing, that's just awful
[editline]11th August 2012[/editline]
also the dopefish version of this video is far superior

My Uncle moved down to Georgia and he says people are even better down there.
When we went to go see them, we met some of the nicest and most hospitable folk I have ever met.

Texas would honestly be doing the rest of the country a favor if it seceded again.
So the mama was 15 and pregnant, and now the second daughter is 17 and pregnant?
Gotta keep up with the family tradition.
Texas would honestly be doing the rest of the country a favor if it seceded again.
And take a massive supply of domestic oil with them. Not only that, but also remove a gigantic amount of refineries, meat and military manpower away.
It would cripple the US.
