It's forbidden in the 30 smarter states of America, too.
I saw some map and it said that it's allowed in all states but only in the home in some.
Ahahaha.. Good.
It's not like children are born vicious and disobedient. They learn what to do from those around them. If they're too our of control for anyone to control them, it is still the parents' fault.
Most socializing for a kid happens at school, kids pick up most of their swear words at school, kids learn from other kids that they can get away with being assholes.

I am gonna "Like" this.
Xolo, peer review sources and newspapers don't backup your argument. First off, they never have a reason to vote so the ones not affect by the issue might aswell not vote. Second of all, unless it was a selected audience, anyone can vote And lastly, a newspaper or magazine wouldn't publish "Research shows beating your kids does nothing!" because it's not interesting enough. Also saying "It's illegal in 30 of the smarter states" is like saying "Fuck off any state who dis agrees with me"
What a bad ass father and/or uncle.
Xolo, there is an extreme difference between beating your child and giving them a spanking. If all you do is lecture your child over and over and over when they do something wrong, all you do is reinforce the idea that whenever they do something wrong, they just have to sit there for a few minutes while you yell at them. A few spankings won't mess a person up, it's when you go overboard with physical discipline that it becomes a problem. Stop telling everyone that if they EVER lay a finger on their child, they're horrible parents that shouldnt be allowed to breed.

Are you joking? What source is more reliable? You have to be a troll.
Discipline, what most of kids in America need.
Right because the majority of idiot teens is in America. :downs:
There should be a bar for child discipline. For example, I once got hit in the forehead, because I thought 2 + 2 = 2. And I wasn't even being bad about it, I thought it was just the way math worked. I honestly didn't understand that it meant 4. Just thinking about it makes me wanna be violent

This entire post is just a mish-mash of irrelevant points that I mostly didn't raise, but I'll do it anyway because you'll accuse me of ignoring your argument if I don't. There's not a difference, according to the formal and colloquial definitions of "beat" as according to my dictionaries: "a. To strike repeatedly. b. To subject to repeated beatings or physical abuse; batter. c. To punish by hitting or whipping; flog." Of course when you hit your child, regardless of where it is (be it the ass or otherwise) it is still striking them repeatedly. Repeated spanking falls under the second definition. I'm not going to argue all day whether or not the definition of "beat" is too ambiguous for your tastes; my point remains. If it's not acceptable to slap or punch your child if they do something undesirable, it's not acceptable to spank them. I never said you should lecture your child over and over when they do something wrong, and neither has anyone with an ounce of knowledge of parenting. I'm not arguing at what threshold spanking becomes a problem. According to the sources I posted, spanking is always an enabler to violence and causes anxiety as according to the frequency at which it is done. Very frequent spankings produce more violent behavior, less frequent spanking produce less (but still apparent) violent behavior. I'll say it again, because it is true: beating your child labels you an unfit parent. A good parent would lead their children by example.
Spanking isn't child abuse.
yes it is
Right because the majority of idiot teens is in America. :downs:
Well, I guess you could just say the whole world. I just said America because it is where I live and it is the first place on my mind since I want the place I want to live at to be not filled with idiots.
I would argue there's not much of one, but that's a different argument. For the present, I'll say that both of those things cause your child to be violence-prone. So do graduates from ivy-league universities. Just for those of you out of the loop, peer-reviewed papers are reviewed by huge panels of people many times who have doctorates in the fields the papers fall under. They are the single most reliable type of source you'll find.
Video won't even show up.
I want to watch this, someone help me out here.
yeah and they aren't surveys either: http://www.religioustolerance.org/spankin5.htm
I got spanked as a child. And I learned. How to be sneaky that is.
I want to watch this, someone help me out here.
A kid in his mid teen years and his uncle (I guess) step into frame. His uncle says something about his nephew posting about belonging to a gang on facebook, so he beats him with the belt for a while then makes his nephew tell those viewing the video that he doesn't really belong to a gang.
which won't really solve anything the nephew will just learn to resent his uncle and will probably delve into the gang even more
