Yes, of fucking course communities which are an actual democracy are great, what are you saying

Am I typing in different language or do you have some form of dyslexia?
well back on track then
so you don't know what people learn from getting hit by a belt, yet you defend it on a internet forum why's that?
Will both of you cut your crap, please? Settle with that you two got different oppinions, and deal with it.
He MIGHT have learned that he was acting like a dumbass and should be ashamed.
It's not that simple. Consider why there is dysfunction in the first place.
If you got humiliated and beaten you would probably pretend to be in a gang and be cool. Enter cycle.
no i'm sincerely interested in why people want to defend this
even when someone posts glaring evidence they cling on to it

Oh boy, go read the earlier comments, because I'm not jumping into that train again.

Well then, if this is a cycle of some sort, didn't this action just cut the cycle pretty well, because the kid lost all his credibility infront of his friends?
If he even posted the video on his wall.

And that solves this issue then? By making it worse? What are you going on about.

The best form of punishmet is the kind where the subject is placed into an uncomfortable situation where he can't blame anyone but himself.
This also helps the kid to see that if he really has any REAL friends that will stick around dispite the fact that he's a dumbass.
I rest my case and go get some breakfast.

I dunno about you but if I got spanked I'd blame the guy who spanked me
If you're OK with people beating their kids that's your problem
I'm ok with people beating their kids. But I'd be damned if I let somebody beat my (hypothetical) kid.
Moral of the story - I don't care about other peoples kids.

lol.
Clearly thisispain and Xolo have the right idea in this thread. And they're the only ones who can actually back up their claims with evidence.
no i'm sincerely interested in why people want to defend this
even when someone posts glaring evidence they cling on to it
Some people generally keep their own opinions. Most of the time studies can only prove so much. If you studied Group A, you'll get their oppinions, but if you studied Group B, they may have different oppinion entirely.

well you'd have to thank xolo for the evidence part
i'm just the bully heh

Yeah, peer-reviewed and published scientific papers/studies aren't perfect but they happen to be as close to perfect as a source can be.
Some people generally keep their own opinions. Most of the time studies can only prove so much. If you studied Group A, you'll get their oppinions, but if you studied Group B, they may have different oppinion entirely.
the difference between that (which is a survey) and what xolo posted is that xolo posted a scientific study
the difference between survey and study is that there is no such thing as an opinion in a study
we've studied this, anyone who looks at the evidence knows the type of damage physical abuse causes
and it doesn't matter how many hyperboles or excuses you use because in the end you are only fooling yourself
but the part where it becomes a problem is when people cheer it on, like a rape in a crowded area, or a bully at school
there's something very wrong when this happens, and it speaks very badly to people who are part of it, because when this kid becomes depressive, destructive, or all the other negative effects proven to be caused by physical punishment, it won't matter to you, you won't give a shit, but when this cycle persists you'd be surprised at the amount of shit you've caused
it's called perspective, something that a lot of people lack, and saying shit like people benefit from getting their "azz whoopin"
it not only brings up so many of societies ills in a loaded title, but i personally have a huge problem when people support such behavior
Well, you can say whatever you want Xolo, but I am sure the kid isn't going to make shit soon, at least as long as someone like the other guy can whoop his ass and humiliate him that way.
and even worse it becomes personal because i know people who've suffered a lot from such things
you can say whatever you want, but there's a certain feeling you get from knowing that someone you knew went to prison for shooting his dad to death
anyone want to take a guess at why?
[editline]9th January 2011[/editline]
I am sure the kid isn't going to make shit soon
and you being sure doesn't mean shit
did you know most bullies come from families that have physical punishment?
it's a chain
someone bullies a person below them, guess what
that person will bully the person below them too
and the lowest common denominator gets all the shit
this has been fucking known for ages yet we still have dumbshits asking why school shootings happen
and even worse it becomes personal because i know people who've suffered a lot from such things

There is a whole difference between actually abusing your child by basing all his education and hitting him, and just whooping his ass because he made shit once.
Seriously, you're generalizing too much. It's not because one guy killed his father because when he was a kid he got beaten way too much, that every single kid in the world that get some spanking is going to do so.
There is a whole difference between actually abusing your child by basing all his education and hitting him, and just whooping his ass because he made shit once.
first of all, do you really think this happens just once
the fact that he made such a scene out of it doesn't demonstrate to you it happened more than once?
and guess what, there is no difference, even one traumatic event causes mental illness
i don't think kids at age 17 should have post-traumatic stress disorder
Oh and yeah, punctuation.

Yeah, right, because a 17 years old kid can't understand why he is getting spanked and will turn into a serial killer for making shit and getting a "reward" for it.
