The purpose of these videos is to show a social issue in a short time to a casual audience. No one in there right mind is gonna scan through 10 hours of footage playing "spot the discrimination".
Thats a good sum up of how to make a dumb video for dumbies to get lots of views.
He didn't really stand out at all, he just had that jewish hat which is nothing really. If that warrants all those comments then there's obviously a problem.
If someone wore exactly what he wore here they're wouldn't stand out.
Stand out as in different. Other people are not wearing a "jewish hat".
You just quoted a post where I said that I'm not denying there's antisemitism in France. What are you doing?
Oh shit sorry, I misread your post.
[editline]16th February 2015[/editline]
Yeah, because he was wearing a Kippah which makes you look silly, easy to pick on somebody for that.
As someone who wears a Kippah, it's usually not noticeable. For example, I have black hair and I wear a black kippah which is the standard. As most Jews are dark haired, in most cases you have to look for it. The tzitzit were a bigger giveaway. The kippah that the guy wears in the video is actually a smaller one and most religious Jews wear larger ones. I'm sure there would be more negative responses if he dressed up like a Hasid.
I'm sure he went into one of those No-Go Zones.
Honestly, he looks like an absolute dork. He would have probably got the same reaction if he didn't wear a Kippah. His posture and overall presence makes him such an easy target, doesn't help much that he runs through the shittiest parts of Paris.
This is not a good video.
Haha yeah good one bro!!
Spitting on him because he made himself look like a target? Fuck off lmao, you're trying to victim blame.
You need to go outside more, learn basic human interaction to realize this is not ok.

No one said it's okay or justified. Try again.
What does it matter if his Kippah did not match his hair color, he was walking in a weird way, or if there is only a few minutes of footage, when all that really matters is, that people are openly insulting, ridiculing and even spitting on him without even the slightest bit of shame? I am pretty sure it is point of the video, that jews have a hard time showing themselves in public without blending in, which should be unacceptable by any modern standards.
How is this complicated? Recording 3 people making an antisemitic remark in a span of 10 hours (supposedly) is not proof of a giant antisemitic problem in Paris. That doesn't mean that there isn't antisemitic problem in Paris. Just that the video doesn't prove it. It's not complicated to understand. I'm not saying that there is no antisemitism in France. I'm saying this vid does not prove it.
good job arguing a hollow, semantic and meaningless point bud
it's still a good video to bring attention to an issue that most people wouldn't bother to confirm themselves because not everyone likes reading long fucking statistical data reports
The interesting thing is, that these days most anti-semitism in European countries comes from muslims.
The same thing could be seen when pro-palestine protests were going on in Germany, many of them chanted "gas the jews" and similar things like that.
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/26/international/26antisemitism.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1
This article even confirms what some people said, he probably walked through those areas.
I'm not blaming him for walking through there thought, he should be able to go wherever he wants without getting any harassment.
No one said it's okay or justified. Try again.
Then you're not arguing anything right now. What is the point you're trying to make?

So posting manipulation that's easy to understand is fine as long as it's serving a right cause?
Because that's what it does. It presents you something that isn't proof as proof. And apparently I can't question it either because it serves a right cause?

I think you're taking the video the wrong way or something, I'm not entirely sure though.
It's an example really.
"she was dressed sluttily so she deserved it"

Well this video is trying to make a point of him getting treated differently for what does he look like, and he's pointing out that he looks like an idiot even without the jewish hat, ie the different factors of his look may skew the reaction from the jewish feature itself.
I am pretty sure that different kind of person wearing the same thing wouldn't get even the attention he got.
If he really spent TEN HOURS and all he get recorded was 3 people spitting, and like three saying something rude, the rest of them just idly watching him pass, I wouldn't be surprised if he got a similar result without the hat outside of the instances of when he got explicitly called a jew.
I also don't get why did they put in the shot of the veiled women, is it something like "OH AND YOU CAN'T EVEN TAKE A WALK AS A JEW WITHOUT RUNNING INTO ARABS!!!"
Seriously, jews are discriminated against in Europe, and several people from this video were pretty despicable, but this video is shit and attitudes of some of your people show pretentiously credit it with value it doesn't carry.
like really why is this a discussion. this is a fucking open and shut case people being racist assholes
Don't worry, watch a short video with undocumented statistics at the end and you too can ride the high horse! Don't forget to call skeptical people racist for that extra pizazz.
Not saying that the statistics are false; I just wouldn't start preaching because a Youtube video told me too. Especially not these, now rather common, "10 Hours of Walking in X as a Y."
Well this video is trying to make a point of him getting treated differently for what does he look like, and he's pointing out that he looks like an idiot even without the jewish hat, ie the different factors of his look may skew the reaction from the jewish feature itself
They point out his jewish feature(hat) with their insulting comments and actions and you claim they do that because he looks out of place because of his other features? I'm not saying you're anti semite but you might be. "They are obviously giving him attention because he's jewish BUUUUT it's not because he's jewish so let it slide guys"
I don't even know why I looked, but the comments section for that video was as lovely as I expected.

Maybe because it's a defining feature - as in, it really sticks out? I wonder if he would have been haggled as much wearing the same thing, without the cap.
Also, you don't need to put words in other people's mouths - Awesomecaek never said to let it slide. He assumed that if he wore less distinct clothing all around, but kept the cap, it might have not gone as bad. And that people jump the gun way too fast over videos like this.
Give me 10 hours and i'll walk through some racist neighborhoods and get the same reaction.
Videos like this are a waste of time, yes these people exist. That's nothing new.
It's youtube bait, and people keep falling for it.

So essentially keep a low profile unless you want to be harassed because of your religion? It's like telling women to not dress in revealing clothes if they don't want to get raped. Or say if a guy with turban and pink suit walks around and people tell him something like "dirty muslim" that's just wrong.

The thing is that the person in the video was dressed like a normal Modern Orthodox Jew. It would be a different case if the man in the video dressed up like a Hasid.

People here tried to make that argument for the first one too, so it's not really a surprise that they're doing it again.

I'm taking the video as "look how bad it is for jews in France and big of a problem antisemitism there is".
And while I agree that there is a problem in France with antisemitism and that it's a despicable thing and should be taken care of, I don't like this video. Because you can record a video like this anywhere you want about anything you want. That's all I'm saying.

Quote the posts from this thread where people said he deserved it or go away.
Does this seriously surprise anyone
People are cunts and ignoring them makes it worse because they're cunts
You could do this with literally anything that's a minority and you'll get the same result
The video's comments gave me cancer.
I'm not denying stuff like this happens, but i'm really doubting how "real" this video is. If you read the report the guy wrote and posted in the description he writes down some of the insults he got. Alot of them were alot worse than the ones shown in the video, but why did they not show those? The video is under 2 minutes, and some of the parts in it really make me wonder why they put them in. For example, the part with the men at 1:00 and with the women at 1:14, nothing happens. It makes me wonder why they put those parts in, instead of the part where this apparently happened:
a driver stopped his car and approached us. "We've been made," I thought. "What are you doing here?" he asked. "We've had reports that you were walking around our neighborhood – you're not from around here."
or this
Walking into a public housing neighborhood, we came across a little boy and his hijab-clad mother, who were clearly shocked to see us. "What is he doing here Mommy? Doesn’t he know he will be killed?" the boy asked.
Once again, i'm not denying that there is a problem. But i'd take this video with a grain of salt.

That's not what I said, tho.
I am saying he looks
A) kinda jewish
B) like a massive assnut
and the (laughably minimal considering he spent TEN HOURS walking about; at least here you would get shouted at by multiple random hobos just for walking by regardless your appearance) reactions he gets are result of combination of A and B and claiming this talks about what is it like to be Jewish in Paris is nonsense, this isn't how you make research, the guy clearly looks in a way that's just baiting people into picking him and that invalidates this particular video as anything worth a while.
Claiming that disliking this video means you have to be antisemitic is like claiming that refusing to support Invisible Children and Kony 20whatever probably means you don't care for african children and that you are a racist.

No, I am saying that if you decide to make a video trying to prove a point about particular unfair treatment somewhere, you should make sure it's neutral and not skewed by other factors that shouldn't be relevant to it.
I can assure you that a muslim in a turban and a pink suit would also attract more attention than a muslim wearing normal clothes, and if somebody made a video about "being a Muslim and walking the streets of Paris for 10 hours" while wearing a pink suit, I would call them out for being dumb and adding an eyesore onto the person to ensure they get noticed.
I am not trying to be hating or something. But most anti-sentimism in west Europe now days is done by Islamic immigrants. I remembered they did the same in my country and they also shouted jew and try to run him over also threw hitler signs at him very sad

Are you legitimately trying to say that a Yarmulke is not only an eyesore, but something akin to a full-body pink suit in how much attention it attracts?
It's a little head-cap.

I dunno about you but he looked like a normal fellow to me except the Yarmulke.
That's about the equivalent, perhaps even less so than a Muslim wearing a veil. A veil stands out pretty damn well since it covers like your entire head except your face.
It's certainly not the equivalent of wearing a pink suit, that's stupid.
