Are you legitimately trying to say that a Yarmulke is not only an eyesore, but something akin to a full-body pink suit in how much attention it attracts?
It's a little head-cap.
No, not at all.
I am saying exact opposite. I am saying the guy is a walking eyesore and claiming that the yarmulke is the sole reason people react to him strolling by is nonsense.
No, not at all.

How is he an eyesore? Because he's jewish? Or what? There is nothing unusual about him besides the cap.
Honestly, he looks like an absolute dork. He would have probably got the same reaction if he didn't wear a Kippah. His posture and overall presence makes him such an easy target, doesn't help much that he runs through the shittiest parts of Paris.
This is not a good video.
Is this the post that everyone wants to make a snarky response to?
Some of the people just looked at him. Which to be honest I would too because seeing someone with a Kippah would catch your eye.
So saying jew to a jew now counts as anti-semitism?
If you walk by him like that yea.
So saying jew to a jew now counts as anti-semitism?
if said disparagingly for no reason then yeah it does
So 1:30 out of 10 hours in someones commuting time is an acceptable level of racism?
At what point does the ratio between nothingness and racism become unacceptable?
Maybe people don't want to watch 10 hours of a guy walking around a city for the one moment someone jumps in front of them yelling "YOU'RE A KIKE!!!!"
I think the acceptable level of racism is as close to zero as possible, however with saying, "10 hours of me, the Jewish man, walking around town", the "10 hours" is misleading. We have a minute and a half, and there's no way to validate the rest of the time spent walking around.
Were these just the highlights? Was the rest just as bad? Who knows. Cutting 10 hours down to 1:30 doesn't help his case, really, although I understand the need to work with people's attention span.
This sucks, but I can't really make a judgement since I have no idea what the rest of the time is like, and I don't really know of a solution other than to make it longer. I don't really have a reason to trust or distrust this guy either, so I can't make a judgement on the situation other than yeah that's a minute and a half of bigotry that shouldn't exist.
I was thinking to myself when I read the title "what would the french have against jews?"
then i was like oh yea

It was a hard J
So saying jew to a jew now counts as anti-semitism?
It's about the context. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out

I still don't get it. Weren't there people in France who hid Jews during World War II?
It's not about the attack on the newspaper that published cartoons lampooning Muhammad is it? The gunman wasn't Jewish was he?
So saying jew to a jew now counts as anti-semitism?
If I were to walk past a black person, look them up and down and then go "Pft, Blackie", you'd be up in arms
If I were to walk past a black person, look them up and down and then go "Pft, Blackie", you'd be up in arms
considering its impact1986 i say hed actually cheer you on
I'm not saying there is no antisemitism in france. I'm saying the vid does not prove it. Calm the fuck down.

You people are amazing. You still haven't learned that these vids are bad? Wear anything that will stand out, walk for 10 hours in any fucking town you want (but of course mostly the bad parts), and I guarantee you that you will get footage of 3 people commenting on the thing that makes you stand out and few other instances of people generally insulting you, especially if you don't look menacing at all.
And fucking really? Grand total of 3 people said something that had anything to do with him being a jew out of all the people he has passed during 10 hours and that proves a huge anti-semitic problem?
For the people who have problems understanding : THERE IS ANTISEMITISM IN FRANCE I'M NOT DENYING IT
this is pretty much a strawman
whats even the point of all of this?
[editline]16th February 2015[/editline]
Maybe because it's a defining feature - as in, it really sticks out? I wonder if he would have been haggled as much wearing the same thing, without the cap.
Also, you don't need to put words in other people's mouths - Awesomecaek never said to let it slide. He assumed that if he wore less distinct clothing all around, but kept the cap, it might have not gone as bad. And that people jump the gun way too fast over videos like this.
or hey maybe people shouldn't fucking hate people for things that don't concern them / what they look like
The purpose of these videos is to show a social issue in a short time to a casual audience. No one in there right mind is gonna scan through 10 hours of footage playing "spot the discrimination".
But I also cant take 1 minute and 30 fucking seconds of 10 hours seriously when it comes trying to prove how much of a problem it is.
Im not asking for 10 hours, but 1 minute and 30 with a few instances of it?
Not saying this type of shit isnt a problem, but it seems like this guy is trying to ride off the short success of these types of videos. Its not like crying wolfs dont pull shit like this all the time.
This isnt 10 hours of a jew walking in paris, its 1 minute and 30 seconds of selected video from those 10 hours, the short length of the video tells me not a whole lot happened during those 10 hours except for this shit.
Just because someone posts a youtube video of them being offended does not make them some saint who knows all and can explain all, this shit sadly just screams "I want views and attention, ill take after another viral video"
I also cant take his claims at the end about all the attacks because I have 0 citations for such a thing.
I dont care if I sound like an ass or ignorant to some people, this specific video screams attention from controversy, and small one at that. Would this really be the first time someone went on the internet for a pity party?
Why would France be so against jews as well? Asking this sincerely since i have no fucking clue as to why.

When you act hostile and act as if denial of your righteousness indicates stupidity, no one will ever like you.
You should be more open to criticism and learn to explain yourself in a way that isn't just yelling all the time.
Absolutely not, it's a shame that you have to be afraid these days walking around on the street and being discriminated. It happened to me several times before but this is really just baiting for some kind of reactions. I'm not advocating that the reactions are justified but you're bound to receive such comments if you behave like that guy and walking in somewhat dangerous areas.
[editline]16th February 2015[/editline]
Yeah, because he was wearing a Kippah which makes you look silly, easy to pick on somebody for that.
please tell me just how being jewish and existing somewhere is baiting for reactions
[editline]17th February 2015[/editline]
literally ALL he did was be jewish, and walk down a street
if you think that is baiting then you have some issues
I'm still not sure what the difference between antisemitism and racism is.
I'm still not sure what the difference between antisemitism and racism is.
Antisemitism is just the word used to specifically describe racism against Jews.
I think Kippahs are pretty cool, and I've never met a bad person wearing a Kippah.
I don't get what the videos try to prove, people are assholes either way and this is pretty well known in any city you walk through
I guess what I'm trying to say is this isn't news
But I also cant take 1 minute and 30 fucking seconds of 10 hours seriously when it comes trying to prove how much of a problem it is.

More people will watch a short minute-thirty video than a 10 hour video. Also, any amount of targeting someone for how they look or who they are is disgusting, and isn't dismissable because you think it's not an issue/not a big issue.
Antisemitism is just the word used to specifically describe racism against Jews.
I think you mean 'discrimination' not 'racism'.
If he were to explain how much of the rest was terrible and at least clarify why he chose what he chose, I'd be totally okay with it.
For instance, I'd buy it if he said, "I was basically harassed every ten minutes and I chose the exemplary cuts". But instead, there isn't any clarification.
I still believe racism is alive and strong around the globe, but when I'm criticizing this guy it's specifically because I feel like he could've made a stronger case.
Nevertheless, it's still depressing that the bigotry still exists even after all this time.
Sorry, I was just wondering why there was armed soldiers in front of that building in the beginning? Is that like a normal thing in France or something?
Just kind of caught my eye.
I'm still not sure what the difference between antisemitism and racism is.
Racism is discrimination based on someone's race and/or the separation of people into fabricated races.
Antisemitism is plain and simply hating the shit out of anything remotely linked with Judaism.
this is pretty much a strawman

What's the strawman I'm making? I don't think you know what that means.
And this is my point, like I haven't made it several times now.
While I agree that there is a problem in France with antisemitism and that it's a despicable thing and should be taken care of, I don't like this video. Because you can record a video like this anywhere you want about anything you want. That's all I'm saying.
I'm not the one on the moral high horse trying to imply that the people who disagree with me are antisemitic. And I'm all like "what the hell are you guys doing" when I see people taking these vids seriously. Especially when he managed to record only 3 people saying something that had anything to do with him being jew. And I'm going even more "what the hell are you guys doing" when people jump on me trying to make me look like I'm denying that there is antisemitism in France. Why is criticizing something that serves a good cause such a taboo?
No one said it's okay or justified. Try again.
Holy shit, can you tone down the condescension?
