This is getting absurd. It's a TV show. I don't care what it's about or how amazing it is, it's a TV show. Why do people treat it like the second coming of Jesus?
Overzealous fans who notice how popular it is and take it way too far because they see everyone else doing it
I've always hated the term "brony." It's a stupid title people give themselves to make them seem special for liking a certain show. I enjoy it, I use pony avatars, but feeling the need to directly inform people that you and others watch the show is fucking annoying, especially when it's completely irrelevant.
yes, this is how people should think
the only "bronies" I hate are the ones that feel the need to tell everyone they watch MLP. maybe, if people didn't start using pony reaction images and whatever else in places they don't belong, then not everyone would hate bronies so much
I've seen the show: she didn't.
They are, so the point is quite accurate.
welp

generalizations
His point was if grown men went out dressed as barbies they'd get killed, yet if they dress up like ponies they get praised, no generalization. Also it's not really an opinion either, it was the epitome of sappy girly advertising and nothing more.
Every idiot who thinks their opinion matters will make a sweeping generalization about people who watch the show or people who hate it.
I don't watch the show or hate it. It just gets annoying when people complain about people who like it. This thread is different however, some guy just humiliated himself.
I've seen the show: she didn't.
Entertainment is subjective, so to you she didn't do a good job and the show is awful, but obviously there are people who enjoy it, so for them she did.
If you publicly admit to being a "brony" you're nothing more than a tool who should be executed for the greater good of the human race.
who gives a fuck, don't be spergy
as long as they aren't assholes about it
edit:
you're a tool yourself if you wish death on someone just because they associate themselves with a fandom
even if the fandom is shit, let them do their thing, it's going to die out soon enough
His point was if grown men went out dressed as barbies they'd get killed, yet if they dress up like ponies they get praised, no generalization. Also it's not really an opinion either, it was the epitome of sappy girly advertising and nothing more.
man people like you ruin this section. why start arrogant arguments like this and ruin the thread?
His point was if grown men went out dressed as barbies they'd get killed, yet if they dress up like ponies they get praised, no generalization.
Praised by people who also dress up like ponies and sometimes those who like the show, if you honestly believe that a standard passer-by would think nothing of a man dressed as a giant rainbow pony then you need to look around more
Also it's not really an opinion either, it was the epitome of sappy girly advertising and nothing more.
Which is what you think personally, and others would disagree with. I'm sorry you can't tell the difference between opinions and fact
Entertainment is subjective, so to you she didn't do a good job and the show is awful, but obviously there are people who enjoy it, so for them she did.
I'm not talking about the entertainment value of the show (which I admit I consider to be 0 at most).
man people like you ruin this section. why start arrogant arguments like this and ruin the thread?
Maybe you are right.
But every time, these threads always end up going south.
Being a brony is stupid to begin with. If you walked around dressed as Barbie at age 17-21 around here, you'd be shot. How are MLP and Barbie different, besides the obvious points? Both are shows targetted towards young female audiences, both include gratuitous amounts of singing and girly things.
Oh yea if you're gonna rate disagree, please do explain your 'side'.
It's a TV show I like. Why is it any different?
Maybe you are right.

yeah, because of people that try to start shit with their "facts" when the thread is just there to provide an entertaining video, not a platform for rants and rash judgments
Wow this is stupid
hey let's talk about the video, shall we?
yeah, because of people that try to start shit with their "facts" when the thread is just there to provide an entertaining video, not a platform for rants and rash judgments
And unfortunatley, we can't stop these people, so the moderators really advise against making threads with content relating to MLP.
And unfortunatley, we can't stop these people, so the moderators really advise against making threads with content relating to MLP.
well just talking about them doesn't help any lol whatever
who cares. No one is "dressing as a pony" anyway, so your point is absurd lol

I don't even mind the show, but this made me cringe.
As for you guys, I have to say, I'm disappointed how easily you guys flip out at the show. The supporters always end up looking like idiots and so do the people who oppose it.
I never really understood it. It's just a show. Jesus Christ.
It's the people who exploit the living hell out of it, it's not the show.
well, we all know how this thread will end up
wow great job you got me
[editline]19th April 2012[/editline]
i mean do you really think more than a dozen people have those $400 fursuits lol

That doesn't automatically mean everyone does.
Also off topic but that is a really impressively made costume. Looks really nice and well made.
and that any of them wear that outside of a convention? how do you get to "a fursuiter at a convention" from "bronys all dress up as ponies!"

hahaha
I'm not talking about the entertainment value of the show (which I admit I consider to be 0 at most).
So whether or not people want to kill themselves while watching it has nothing to do with the entertainment value?
Wow this is stupid

"Ok, today for my presentation we're listing to Smile"
"Smile?"

"Cool, I love Brian Wilson."
I don't understand why people embarrass themselves like that. Why can't he just keep his interests to himself?
OH how dare someone express their interests!!
The irony is in your avatar

I don't go around my school making presentations and writing essays about how I read a webcomic about the Elder Scrolls.
there's a difference between wearing a metallica t-shirt and preaching to everyone how great metallica is, etc
How many fucking times do these threads need to appear before you all learn.
FACEPUNCH MLP THREADS WILL NEVER WORK.
Every idiot who thinks their opinion matters will make a sweeping generalization about people who watch the show or people who hate it. The other side will get pissed and retaliate. The arguments will follow the same course as always, saying the same stupid shit that everyone should know by heart now.
We are running in circles. If you are NOT an idiot with a loud mouth who thinks we care about their opinion on pastel horses, please, fucking report this thread and let the mods lock it.
thanks babe
these thread contain the same posts, arguments and generalizations on both sides pretty much word for word even when it's entirely unrelated, and quite frankly the OP's video is just ripe for causing a generic shitstorm. Every 'fandom' has its version of these embarrasing/dumb people to some extent, and it lends nothing but to give people who don't like it examples for extreme ad hominem stances on their views.
having said that I have to agree with a bunch of posts on the first page, I honestly have no idea how some people find it to be something worth doing for a school paper, nor fail that badly. There was that one guy who did a huge physics presentation a while back and that was kinda cool, but these kind of things make me rage.
On a side-note, That song is also one of those awkward traps to tell someone to listen to, I already had to sit through watching someone do this to a whole group of people when I was at the college the other day. It's a surprisingly well done song and really excitable bronies probably just think about the good part, but it starts out terribly generic and sugarcoated (go figure). By the end there's a full chorus and the harmonies used are the kind of stuff you get out of broadway-kinda showtunes, but I don't think anybody actually listened that far past ~my name is pinkie pie~
closing this up in a minute. When we didn't threaten closing these threads everyone thought they were strictly forbidden, now that I've gone and stated they're pretty much close-on-sight why is everyone making them, god
there's a difference between wearing a metallica t-shirt and preaching to everyone how great metallica is, etc
between you and me it takes a certain kinda attitude to wear something like rainbow dash to the mall, but anyone can wear a metallica shirt and not even care about the band all that much. I know a guy who has a custom hoodie he wore to a lot of different events for like two months straight, THAT took somethin' special.
WHY THE FUCK IS THIS SHOW SUCH A BIG DEAL
I am completely and utterly baffled not only as to why this show has not only become a cultish icon, but why it's apparently more polarizing and argument inducing than a fucking religious debate.
Every single fucking time even the merest whisper is uttered about this cartoon it results in pages upon pages of shit flinging and pure and unbridled e-rage, and I can only ask WHY?
