Eerily reminiscent of The Third and The Seventh.[

i love it, too bad it wont look like that in-game cause of the way we use our camera. unless you were looking at it with the cinematic scope it has, it'd lose a lot of the visual fidelity.
I really don't want to diminish this guy's work, because it's really impressive in and of itself, but you guys might want to pull your panties back up a bit. Firstly, these are "archviz" or architectural visualisation demo's, which are designed to be flown through rather than interacted with like a game environment. This means that they are focused on getting maximum performance out of the visuals and don't consider things like physics or game logic, and therefore they aren't really comparable to how a game environment would need to be optimised. Secondly, the vast majority of the geometry in these demo's is made up of hard flat rigid surfaces, which compared to other surfaces like skin and water are significantly easier to shade and light.
All that being said, these demo's still look really great for running in realtime on a game engine.
what this guy said
mmmm those walls would look nice with some flak cannon blood stains
maybe a few giblets from an 8baller
Makes me want to mess with UE just to make screenshots and videos like this.
Mate do it, $18 a month. Even I have managed to make something in it.

So the subscription is the latest thing? but I don't plan on making a game with it for sale. Can't UDK on some level do this, or no?

You can buy the subscription, then cancel it and still be able to use the engine.
legit can't tell the difference between that and real life, amazing stuff.
I remember saying this about early ps3 games... virtua tennis to be exact, yes things are getting better and better but you can't fool the human eye forever.
I want to see what kind of alien and mystical places we can make with this. Buildings made of glass, fog solidifying into playable spaces, an honest to goodness realtime render of a tron-bike assembling around you.
You can buy the subscription, then cancel it and still be able to use the engine.
You just won't be able to update without renewing your subscription. which is totally kick-ass
I'm still waiting for a real subway simulator with this type of lightning I personalty have a boner for metros and the underground rail ways I loved taking a stroll through them in gta iv
This looks amazing. Too bad Mirror's Edge 2 will be on frostbite, I would much rather have it on UE4.
List of people who can run this real time:
This and FOX engine are worthy of "Next-Gen".
List of people who can run this real time:
Actually all lighting is baked so it's pretty much free. The guy who made it says it runs at 50 fps on a gtx 670, with all those wicked reflections and stuff at max.
List of people who can run this real time:
You can easily run the example in OP's video on a mediocre rig, there is no advanced geometry and from what the creator has released the shaders aren't complex, lighting is baked (games have been doing this the past 15 years).
Up to 4K.
List of people who can run this real time:
its really not that complex or difficult to run actually
it helps that a lot of the lighting is pre-baked, so although it looks fantastic, its not by any means dynamic
I can't really tell the difference between this and photo's unless I really observe it detailed.
This looks amazing. Too bad Mirror's Edge 2 will be on frostbite, I would much rather have it on UE4.
IMO the engine really doesn't matter for a game like Mirror's Edge. It's so beautiful on it's own. Hell the original was on UE3, and that looked fantastic minus the large lightmaps here and there. As long as you've got good shading and some bounce lighting, you can make a sexy Mirror's Edge map.
Yeah if no one told me this was a graphics engine and I only watched it one time through I probably would have thought it was just showing off some sleek architecture in the real world

I think games need to work on lighting rather than make everything shiny. That demo looks good, but doesn't look very realistic. FOX engine seems to be focused more on lighting, MGS 5 and PT look great
FF 15 has nice lighting too

Looks vibrant but nothing next gen about it
I use unreal 4 but I'm not that good :(
