Active Duty Soldier "Illegally" Disarmed and Arrested

I love that part where one of the cops go and ask for the guy's ID and he just freaks out: "SHUT UP I'M TALKING TO YOUR... FRIGGIN... SERGEANT!"
What a tool.
I'm 100% behind CCW's and OC and all. But the guy probably did it to himself.
I'm pretty sure it was a case of "Sir, may you surrender your weapon while I determine why you're roaming around public with your rifle" and he decided to be one of those "AM I BEING DETAINED" guys and gave him a hard time which never ends well. Even if the Officer did 'snatch' the weapon from him without asking getting angry and becoming verbally combative doesn't really give the impression that he just disarmed a calm, innocent law abiding gun owner.
OC laws are for like, hunting or hiking or for when you're taking firearms to and from the range, your car or if you accidentally flash your CCW when you go to grab your wallet or something.
Not slinging your AR over your shoulder and going to Wal-Mart.
im pretty anti cop but if i saw i guy walking down the street dressed like a clown with an ar 15 i might arrest him too
and it turns out he actually is absolutely insane lol
Sure it causes issues, but he wasn't breaking a law by doing this. That's why I'm on the fence about this one.
Aren't open carry laws mostly there for the sake of convenience so hunters and people who go to the range can easily do so and legally without having to take extra measures to conceal the weapon ?
I don't think lawmakers came up with the idea because they really wanted insecure nutjobs to walk around with loaded rifles while dressed to look as fucking stupid as humanly possible.

Why is this even a thing

Here is the deal, yes open carry is legal. However the police reserve the right to stop you, inspect the weapon, and find out why you are carrying. Simple as that.
If a cop stops you while carrying a firearm, you begin to yell, scream, and actively resist and interfere with an investigation then you will be arrested simple as that. Here is an idea, don't be a man child and cooperate with the police. So tired of these people "muh rights, muh this, mah that." Just because you can do something does not mean you should, and if you do expect some type of attention.
Its like hunting, I'm open carrying a shotgun. A game warden can stop me at any time, ask for permits, tags and inspect my weapon to see if I'm following all rules and regulations.
I absolutely hate the fact that Texas is going open carry (handguns) next year. There are going to be so many dumbshits like this dude it isn't going to be funny.
Why is this even a thing
gee lets take a guess
a bud of mine from highschool for example got close fisted beaten by a cop a few days ago
texas police routinely busts into peoples' homes without a warrant in the middle of the night and put people in prison when they end up fighting back
let's go and find a few more examples of US cops acting like fat pigs
[editline]d[/editline]
all of the people in this situation look like total punks

It has nothing to do with hunting. If you're going hunting you're setting up in a tree stand or something. Carrying a gun is not at all related to hunting.

Are you serous right now?
Don't be one of these people that are so invested in open carry and all that shit that you fail to see the issues that stem from people like in the video.

Never said I agree with open carry. It sets you up to be disarmed before you know what hits you. But if he was within the law he should have never have been cuffed.
Honestly the video is almost three years old. I'm pretty sure that it was posted on FP before. Why did you decide to bring this up again?
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
A well regulated Militia
regulated Militia
[B]regulated

Militias are pretty much irrelevant nowadays, now that standing professional armies are the norm around the world.
Militias are pretty much irrelevant nowadays, now that standing professional armies are the norm around the world.
Even back in the day militias weren't really good for anything more than intimidating the civilian population.
yo im no cj grisham but gun control arguments are irrelevant and gun control is a false solution to whatever issues its being associated with
also the phrase "well regulated" in the second amendment refers to a militia that is functional and ready. does not mean that the militia should have government regulation imposed over it
[editline]29th December 2015[/editline]
honestly this video is retarded as fuck and the discussions that come from it will only be retarded as fuck
also the phrase "well regulated" in the second amendment refers to a militia that is functional and ready. does not mean that the militia should have government regulation imposed over it
The concept of running a militia in a well developed first world country with a functional military in the 21st century is ass backwards and incredibly retarded no matter how you put it.
its a good thing this nutjob wasn't a black guy he'd be toast
It has nothing to do with hunting. If you're going hunting you're setting up in a tree stand or something. Carrying a gun is not at all related to hunting.
Not everyone can hunt in their backyard and sometimes its just easier to walk to your hunting spot. I've seen it all the time in all 5 States I've lived in. Carrying a gun is absolutely related to hunting.
im all for guns and open carry and all that bullshit but i would disregard his political message entirely because the guy is a known nutjob

the guy is a shitbag NCO, do some research on him
[editline]28th December 2015[/editline]
and michael yon has done more to piss off cj grisham than he has pissed off yon. the most hes done to yon is send yon death threats over facebook lol, while yon has been publishing his history for years now

They sell these

As stupid as he acted, what they did could literally be compared to arresting a black or muslim dude for resisting arrest because "people are afraid of him"
Not everyone can hunt in their backyard and sometimes its just easier to walk to your hunting spot. I've seen it all the time in all 5 States I've lived in. Carrying a gun is absolutely related to hunting.
Hell, I've got family in Wisconsin who are buddies with nearly everyone within 5 miles in any direction. They all get together and wander around each others property during hunting season. My aunt in her late 60s wanders around with her husband and they both have tacticooled AR-15s. Oh the deer are in creek x vs creek y? Call to confirm you are going to be there when the landowners aren't and walk around.
Literally nobody gives a fuck.
On topic, this guy is a complete tosser. Cop shows up, you show paperwork, ID, or something, or you are in no position to argue.
Militias are pretty much irrelevant nowadays, now that standing professional armies are the norm around the world.
nah you have to have the militias to protect the people against the mexicans and the government
If you don't agree, you're a filthy commie muslim
I can't fathom how open carry in public at least for rifles/shotguns etc. is legal. There's absolutely no reason for the everyday gun owner to carry their fucking long gun with them everywhere they go. I'm pro gun, but this is just arbitrary and unnecessary.

Open carry is really a compound issue, but convenience is major factor in it. You functionally can't realistically conceal rifles in your pants or anything of that nature. They are just too big. So you are left with open carry or forcing people to lug their guns around in bulky cases for no good reason.
The problem is that people carrying them everywhere are perverting the intention of things. A major part of open carry is simple convenience. It would be legitimately fucking stupid to need to carry your rifle in a box or dissembled, or whatever just to go shoot something, then dismantle/repack it before you could leave. You can clean it when you get home where you aren't under any time constraints, and depending on what you were doing you might need to wait for it to cool down before putting it back in a case. It's far more realistic to just waltz the thing around. However, there is honestly no good way to create a law that defines 'legitimate' and 'illegitimate' reasons to carry. As a result the laws are typically blanket bans or allowances because there is no gray area.
That lets someone be a cunt. It's unfortunate, but there really isn't a way around it without majorly inconveniencing a ton of people.
