Suicide attacks are incredibly eerie. When I was in Japan, I went to the Yūshūkan which had a reconstructed Type 1 Kaiten (suicide sub) I didn't know at first was just looking at it idly and mentioned that there wasn't much room inside for pilots, then my friend said that it didn't matter as they wouldn't be coming back alive. Was pretty shocking just being next to something that people threw their lives away with.
If that shocked you, you haven't seen anything yet. Take a look at this (It's missing it's nose piece since it was being deconstructed) [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/56/MXY7_Ohka_Cherry_Blossom_Baka_Ohka-11.jpg/300px-MXY7_Ohka_Cherry_Blossom_Baka_Ohka-11.jpg[/t]
They would be dropped from a Mitsubishi G4M and the Ohka would use a jet engine to smash into an aircraft carrier, that entire nose piece would be filled with explosives. Before that they'd just use Zero's loaded with explosives and fly them into carriers but they tended to get shot down unless it was a swarm of them.

Don't think this was exclusive to the Japanese. The axis powers kinda didn't give a flying fuck about their personnel. There was a german air wing dedicated to ramming bombers, with decent success. The V-1 Buzz Bomb had a number that were fitted with cockpits and briefly planned for use as manned missiles. They build a rocket powered "point defense interceptor" made of shitty wood, corrosive glue, no landing gear, and a nose full of rockets.
Some of the little effects here and there are just perfect

This is great. The music, scrappy aesthetic, and spontaneous editing is like one of those mid-'90s "kidz" videos if the producers did a whole lot of drugs first.
It almost reminds me of You Don't Know Jack.
I don't mean this in a negative way, but this reminds me a little of that "The End of the World" flash from like, a thousand years ago.
-snip-
sorry forgot about that flash

Pretty sure he's talking about this one:

Not sure how you get "The Ultimate Showdown" from "The End of the World" when it's literally the name of the video, but it's this instead:
This video made me realize I didn't learn anything about Japan in school outside of WW2 stuff.
Wow, my fifth grade teacher must have been damn good. We learned all of this.
I guess it's like my IT teacher always said.
"I -taught- the dog how to whistle. Why can the dog -not- whistle? The dog -didn't learn- how to whistle."

I really hope this turns into a series, it's just too great. I cried laughing by the end of the video.
The Japanese invasion of Manchuria was the best fucking part:
"no, don't do that, if you're in the league of nations you're not supposed to take over the world!"

damn this went viral as fuck
Been looking through some of the files section on this guys website, where he's got like a handful of actual songs buried between mountains of vines lol. This music is actually pretty great:

this guy is ridiculously talented.
Eyy bumping this for a few reasons
1. god damn this is still getting shared everywhere

2. he finally set up the long requested patreon. But he's made literally no attempt to advertise it or add to it lol. you'll only even find it if you click the 'show more' button on the japan vid's description. if you wanted to support him that way instead of just paypal, then here u go:
https://www.patreon.com/billwurtz
and I guess 3. the next project he's got lined up isn't a "history of" video but apparently something that sounds like it's more aimed at his original vine followers. So another history vid is probably a ways off.
Been following bill since the start. Good guy.

It was at like 9.7 million ~24 hours ago, it's just been steadily climbing for awhile now. It was at the lower end of 9 million almost a week ago. The youtube stats feature is neat for seeing how much viral stuff like this gets shared. This things been at a really steady pace.
Wow this guy really hit gold with this video.
I thought the video was pretty damn funny, but I thought the musical speech (I have no clue on what to call it) kinda got old by the end. I'm pretty sure that's his thing so I guess I can't expect much otherwise but still.
