As a guy who's been listening to Metal bands for almost 15 years, I couldn't care less about the supposedly "sanctity" of Metal (I'd like to know who the fuck came up with that bullshit). Fuck that shit, I dig this band, it's fun as hell. Maybe I'm too old and I've grown out of being hateful of bands and other people's tastes. I'm mature enough to practically not care about that anymore.
Having the ability to switch from this to [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3Td8FXlOIo"]Dying Fetus[/URL], and being completely open and accepting of this sort of bands, is what pushes the genre forward, so I'm totally okay with this. I mean, little girls? On a full-on Metal band? Fuck yea.

I love babymetal because they're always about really silly things, like how bullying is bad and this one where they sing about how fun it is to watch anime with someone you like, but it's also kinda tiring cause anime isn't that good.
I'm a metalhead, and I actually kinda dig the music. What weirds me out a bit is the dancing (what are they doing) but if I just listen to the music I enjoy it a fair bit.

I will agree it's a very enjoyable song, but I wouldn't call it Jpop mixed with metal (at least after the first minute; I'd call the first 55 seconds and what I assume to be the chorus [repeats at 2:35] Jpop / metal, but not the rest of the song). In fact, I'd just call it straight-up power metal. Which may be part of the reason why people (myself included) enjoy it so much.
Songs like the OP's "Gimme Chocolate," however, I would most definitely call Jpop / metal (or "Kawaii metal" as they themselves refer to it as). It has the bouncy, bubbly high-pitched voices that are the signature of Jpop throughout. Megitsune, on the other hand, just has powerful female vocals for the majority of the song (minus first minute, as I said).
To call songs like Megitsune "Jpop / metal", like Gimme Chocolate, would be like calling bands like [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=dGCxgJFjnZw#t=72]Sirenia "Jpop / metal".[/url] Though, admittedly, Sirenia also have male vocals, but I (tried to) link to 1:12, which has female vocals over intense riffage, akin to Megitsune.
Sorry to be "that person," but I just feel like these things need to be said, and if I don't say it, no one will. :v:

Babymetal isn't really pushing the envelope tho. Mixing jmetal and jpop has been done for over 10 years ago and their songs are dull and repetative. It's cool that their singers were 12 years old when they started out tho.

I never got into [URL="http://youtu.be/Ujw0FTe7tTI"]X Japan[/URL] for instance, but even if I don't dig their music/style, that doesn't allow me to outright demean their talent and/or musicianship in any way, nor consider their band a lesser form of Metal - like plenty of "METAL-AS-FAWK HERP DERP " Metalheads do when bashing Metalcore. Specially if I'm not a professional musician/Metal musician with millions of records sold under my belt. So you'll realize that hating on them for no gawddamn reason at all, when they're just musicians doing what they love and having a good time at it, makes one a jealous, whiny cunt.
And if I may, your opinion is what ruins the Metal scene as a whole - not saying it's your fault or anything, though. Metalheads love to bash hipsters to no end for instance, but I realized they're just projecting. BM fans can out-hipster the most hardcore hipsters, when it comes to lo-fi, underground Black Metal bands - that only 28 people or so know about, so they should STFU and take a good look at themselves (a long haired hipster, dressed in black, with their faces painted like dead whores) before spouting their nonsensical, uneducated comments.
Not that a bunch of crybabies should spoil the enjoyment you and I get from listening to Metal, specially when they bring nothing of value to the conversation and can be easily ignored, but I just consider them toxic people who don't contribute at all to pushing their favorite genres forward, and I strongly suggest you be more understanding and open-minded about this sort of thing. I'm not saying you should like this band, or bands you just can't get into, but try to be more relaxed and have a more open minded view about music in general.

I don't hate them, I'm not saying their metal is lesser (whatever that means), I'm not trying to stop them from doing their thing and I don't care that much if people are into them or not. People have different tastes and I fully respect that.
I think we should be able to discuss tastes without accusing eachother of "ruining" the metal scene. If you think they sound good and that their doing something new I'm interessted to hear more about your opinions.
No doubt it's Metal, I can pretty much understand the same amount of lyrics as I would in other Metal videos.
